  • Dailey's Farm & Walk-Behind Tractors breaking new ground with a Berta rotary plow and BCS 853 with Honda GX390 engine, electric start. We are running upgraded 5" x12" tires, adjusted all the way out. The plot we plowed was roughly 25' x 100'. Note: We sped the video up to 2x normal speed so viewers don't need to watch 30 minutes of video. Happy Growing!

    Been there, done that. No more walk behind rototillers for me. Now it's a rototiller on a tractor on a 3 point hitch.

      Hi LarsDcCase. Too each their own, right. Riding on a 4-wheel tractor is super boring and annoying to me for small scale vegetable production. I feel like I am doing nothing with my time. On the flip side, I like the hands-on nature of the 2-wheel tractor. Some agree with this and some won't. Its all good. Its nice to have a wide variety of options out there to suit all the needs of the market.

      Glad it helped Richard. I have a document walking through this same process as well as building raised beds. Email me if you need it. Happy growing!

    did you amend it with anything . peat moss? compost?

    • @DaileysFarmTools
      @DaileysFarmTools  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Harry. No. Just plowing and we wanted a good video to show the process to customers. That was our main point of all this. For my growing beds I mix amendment on top of beds and stir into top inch or 2 with the power harrow. "JM" style. So applying compost that way.

      ok. cool. I was thinking you could just do it with what you have but a harrow would work.

    I wouldn't recommend wearing a full-length skirt while operating farm equipment. If the skirt gets caught in the moving blades so will she.

      Hi Josh. So, my daughter was into exclusive wearing of skirts back then, hence the skirt in the video. So in that case, we had to work as safe as possible. Thanks for the good safety comments, it is most definitely safer to not having any long, dangling clothes/items of any kind when working near a PTO driven implement/driveline. Great to know there are folks out there caring about others enough to make these comments. We appreciate your feedback. You stay safe as well! Thanks!

    Wouldn't it be better to cut the grass first?

    • @DaileysFarmTools
      @DaileysFarmTools  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Zip22Zip...well that depends upon situation. If one is in no hurry its just fine to turn the soil over on the grass and let it break down. But yes, if in a rush mowing it with a flail mower first works wonderfully. Although I personally tend to mow it, then tarp it for 3+ weeks and then create beds. "JM" style. Thanks for the comments!

      Could have been a good video but children are an irritating distraction. You may feel that they are safe but unless you let them run through the discharge chute of a lawn mower why would you ever think (????) It's ok to play along side the discharge of the tiller. Only more silly would be wearing tennis shoes while you are behind the tiller while operating it. That why those things are called accidents!!!!

      I'd watch the full 30 mins with voice commentary since I am a farmer and love this machine.
