Ted Riggs Relax you knew exactly what she was trying to say. I don’t see why you had to correct this person. They were making a nice comment and you had to add a unnecessary correction which everyone understood what was meant.
Even though he mostly just sits around in these sketches Rick is a pretty positive influence on Kaitlyn. In the other Kaitlyn sketch he talks about how much he loves Kaitlyn's mom and reinforces the idea to his brother that he shouldn't be afraid of marriage.

I think this skit is funny and it's really touching, too. I've worked with ADHD kids and honestly? They all could use a person like Rick in their lives. He knows when to engage and when not to, when to set a boundary and when to let things go, and he is attuned to Kaitlyn's fears and supports her, helping her return to safety when she's crossed a line, without ever shaming her. People who have worked with special needs kids will know what I am talking about.

@Iam Silvie I think it's funny -- and more than that. I think it's really touching. I've worked with ADHD kids and honestly? They all could use a person like Rick in their lives. @Iam Silvie whatever. It's a matter of taste. I found it funny. You don't. I have no problem acknowledging that some people don't find it funny. Can you accept the fact that some people do find it funny -- or do you think your opinion is the only right one and the people who find it funny are wrong?
Perhaps the most REAL sketch SNL has ever done. Sweet, poignant, hilarious, and magnificently performed by all 3. Only once in a blue moon do you find a sketch like this.
THAT was Kate Winslet!!!???!!!??? I am up on Hollywood and Pop Culture and I could not figure out who was playing Becky! She looks impossibly young and her accent is so goddamn great! BTW, Look at her right ear - it’s fire red. That happens to my daughter, too!
I didn't recognize her either. I'm American and when I heard her accent, it struck me as somewhat antiquated-- like something out of a 1980s movie. It's a dialect I'm envious of. Very movie-star and old fashioned. You don't really hear it irl.
I really enjoyed that! I like that they kinda had a family vibe. The cousin was sweet in a way. I laugh the most at Horatio just concentrating on not breaking.
Rick is such a good step dad. He’s so patient and knows when to help her out and doesn’t make a big deal when she changes her mom. He also knows when to shield her from inappropriate conversations.
Man, Amy Poehler circa late 90s to early 2000s had so much energy. Her early years in SNL, the Upright Citizens Brigade and playing Andy Richter's little sister on Conan's Late Night show really showed it.
Amy is so damn talented for real. She NAILS being this type of little girl. It's hilarious. Also, Rick is a treasure, with patience of a SAINT lol. What a great step dad. I thought I commented this before, but who knows prob same vid uploaded a diff time lol. Kate Winslet also did a fantastic job as the (not dramatic) angsty teen cousin. 😂 Love this sketch. The old people parade is one of my fav parts 🤣
I remember when this came out lol I used to quote the hey rick part to my mom a lot after seeing this, just to annoy her. Also dressed like Kate Winslet in this skit as a tween. Also if Kaitlyn and Dot from Mad TV had met...imagine.
Rick is literally the best stepdad! This is no joke the funniest thing I've seen in like my whole life :) My favorite is when Kaitlyn yells "REMEMBER THAT RICk!!!!!"
Someone has ADHD. Man I feel bad for the people who dealt with me when I was unmedicated and 10 with my ADD. Anyways watching this actually made me exhausted.
Amy’s character here always made me think of Bruce McCullough’s character Gavin on Kids in the Hall. Amazing sketch. Didn’t even recognize Kate Winslet at first.
I’m so glad this skit is popping up in people’s recommendations again. My friend and I found it in ~2014, we were obsessed with Kristen Wiig and Amy poehler skits and we’d quote this one all the time. It’s a 10/10 for me 😂
I love the underline message of how much Rick loves his stepdaughter

I agree

@@Peter_Cordes Came here to say this, but you did it much more eloquently than I ever could.
I never realized how teeny tiny Amy Poehler is.
Todd Foret I think she might be wearing a chest binder in this skit, though. I’m not sure.
@@ohboy1098 ya she said she did
She’s got a huge personality though !
@First Last Tiny in my book, but I'm borderline Amazon. :)
@First Last You're very welcome. :)
Rick is the best stepdad ever.
Rick Rick Rick
Seriously. A biological father would’ve lost it with her lol
I was looking for this comment 😂
My real name is Rick
I thought he was an uncle.

dfsfds Special needs kids ??? ADHD is not a real thing It was just made up to give kids pharma drugs
ADHD isn't special needs.
dfsfds as somebody who spent the whole summer as a camp counselor for kids with similar issues, i can 100% confirm

THIS IS THE BEST IMPRESSION OF A 10 YEAR OLD I'VE EVER SEEN. I ACTUALLY HAVE A HEADACHE LOL
It's just like watching The Mighty B!
My daughter is 10 and you're not wrong.
Kate Winslet is amazing and beautiful. She totally looks and sounds like a 19-year-old American teenager
She looks like Tiffany circa 1989
Laura Catania on the thumbnail I thought it was Tiffany
Omg I did not realize that was her until I read this lol
No, she doesn't
I totally didn't know that was her
That was literally every 8-10 year old girl that would come in to Claire's when I was the manager there 💀
Raquel Toth How many free piercings do you think happened while you weren’t there
😂
Occupational hazard when you take a job at the mall- especially at Claire's, lol.
That would've been me and I apologize lol
How did the others 2 actors keep straight faces by Amy Poehles shenanigans? 🤣 🤣
Gregor Baby they were probably actually annoyed
Magic!
Especially “Rick.” He and Jimmy Fallon always broke character, cracking up.

OMG how does "Rick" keep a straight face?! So funny... Pohler sounds just like a kid.
I guess Horatio Sanz can keep a straight face every time except when Fallon is on stage.
Jesus, this skit is rough for teachers. I'm having war flashbacks 😂
@Petra Hannen Voice yeah teachers can't handle ADHD... that's why I home school now.

d*mn Kate Winslet. I didn't recognised her. She's not British!
+aldy gosal Kate winslet is the best british actress atm . She is so underrated .
Shes from NZ.
LV wasn't she born in Britain?
She's from Reading in the south of England.
Who played Rick?

You can tell Amy is trying to get him to break 😂
she's trying *so* hard she's almost making herself break, that's what makes it so good!
omg this is where Bessie Higgenbottem came from - Amy’s cartoon character from her show The Mighty Bee
The mighty bee bee bee!!! 🐝
Omg I like that show.
Even before SNL Amy played a similar character on Upright Citizens Brigade
Yes!!!!!! I thought the same
Oh my gosh, I hated that show
I know this step dad and daughter. Rick handles her well. Wish more step dads were as chill

Amy Poehler did such a great job in this sketch! My favorite part is when she said “ Look Rick, I’m in an old lady’s day parade “😂

Amy’s character reminds me of Dot on madtv
Tiffany Glickfield SO MUCH Dot!

Amy Poehler is the funniest effing person on earth... and Tina Fey.
