The county decided in 1972 that it needed to be demolished.
I like the laptop being held out over the cataract.
He had a neck tether for it, but yeah still made me nervous.
I got the vibe from everyone in the video. "Would you look at that, just look at it" then the reporters trying to not start a rap song probably saying the dams name. Lol
The guy with the beard nailed it. Don't mess with Mother Nature. She's always holding all the cards!
"Don't mess with Mother Nature."
Humans exist because messed with mother nature. Agriculture and its accompanying modifications of nature.
Why arent they clearing the debris? What does our tax money even do. We couldn't afford a new one in 114 years? Maybe some updates. Can we not have trains and infrastructure from the 1800s. With the amount of tax money we spend. Where is it going?
Trump said our Countrys infrastructure is failing we see that here ..
Water is moving too fast and as you can see the are around the damn is unsafe.
The county engineer said that they had contacted the company that clears the debris off the dam. It requires a special piece of equipment that is 5 hours away and they wouldn't have let it bet onto the dam under the current circumstances.
@@JeffWelsh-pc6kw Really, Trump said that? Wow, he's so smart!
The dam itself has held up. In fact a lot of stuff from the 1800s still holds up
Well we can't say we weren't warned this day would come.
"Well we can't say we weren't warned this day would come."
There is no WE.
I was not warned this dam would be bypassed.
They just show the house going in the river and now you're saying it's not there's a video of it
Is it a Hydroelectric dam?
A god dam.
Based on the news report, it once was used for hydroelectric power generation. However, over its 114 year existence, it has filled with silt, rendering it unusable for power generation. In addition, because of the silt, they always target that the outflow matches the inflow (i.e.) it no longer serves as a reservoir. What happened here (as you can see by the debris against the dam) is that this flow washed so much debris downstream that it has blocked the normal water drainage chutes, causing the water to crest over the dam.
Yes, it was built for hydropower, to replace a hydropower dam already there, and was producing power until 2019. No longer economic, will cost 80 million to remove.
I hope those people get to keep their house, or at least rescue some of it. Maybe some of it can be moved.
it's waterfront now! the DNR would never allow it that close, but they got it.
It's already fallen in like 2 days ago
"Maybe some of it can be moved."
All of it was moved.
Immanent failure!? Boy, the news agencies sure milked this story for all it was worth!
This is an old story. The house fell like 2 days ago
Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. At least the dam is still standing. Good.
When the representative you voted for block infrastructure improvements for you but vote for billionaires to get record tax breaks.
Speaking of the ones that wanted to "block infrastructure improvements", you conveniently left out the part of that bill that was to send 850 billion dollars OUT of this country. I bet we could build some damn good dams with that kinda money huh.
@@VladimirBlarp 850 Billion, lol who told you that Hannity, Putin or Tucker?
@@gameosapien13 It was in the bill, that's all public information when you take the time to read it
@@VladimirBlarpNo it wasn’t…

The USA has not spent money on maintenance of infrastructure ie. dams, roads etc. in 50-100 years. Instead diverting trillions into overseas wars and the war machine. Its people now face failing dams across the country, failing road and rail bridges across the country, a road network that's crumbling under the weight of the demands of traffic. Its the same world wide. But, in the end, its the people that suffer.
While simultaneously allowing unchecked immigration, loose policies on crime, encouraging drug addiction, homelessness.....one begins to conclude the destruction of the US society is their goal
Insted of voting for billion dollar tax cuts to billionaires you mean…
Donald Trump gave trillions to them to buy another yacht from Germany…
Talk to the Republican Congress who wouldn't pass infrastructure bills until Biden got it done 2 years ago!
"in the end, its the people that suffer."
Not just people, but here on TH-cam, its people.
Isnt this old? The house already fell in like 2 days ago
No, there were trees covering it. This was posted only a couple hours ago.
@@Bus-16 yeah theirs a post from 1 day ago with the house falling in tho
@@jonathanpalmer228 it fell on last night.
@@Bus-16 it literally fell in Sunday. Go google 2 seconds videos and you will find them 2 or 3 days old
Damn that Rapadan Rapadan Rapadan Dam
Dang, looks like a brand new roof on the .... house.
The spillway failed. The dam is fine other than it’s old. It’s designed to hold more water than this. The spillway failed. The spillway.
there should have been a backhoe pulling those logs from behind the dam and the house side reinforced, what did they do? A BIG FAT NOTHING !!!
Should have cleared debris in front of dam!
Did Half Pint make it out!!! And Ma??
Just wait until it starts raining again later this week . We haven’t seen anything yet . The rain will continue all summer and fall
Rob Olson in Mankato... - just another episode of Little House on the Prairie but some force of nature blocked any real coverage of real events....
Start by keeping the debris cleared from the normal spillways.
SAD the house is gone now! This is old video. Sad.
They better get another location on higher ground & move the house
Scariest part of the video is at 1:46 with that guy hanging his computer over the edge smh
I row boat very very fast weather permitting
Dam was abandoned and county doesn't care. Looks like a natural washout solves a lot of problems.
They already admitted it needed replaced they neglected to do it so they should help pay for the house too
They have reported for 2 days that the dam has failed, or failure was "imminent". Seem like they exaugurated. The dam doesn't appear to, nor did it ever, lean or fracture. The other issue is that as more and more land is converted up stream to hard surface, we are going to see this more all over.
That house is now gone
Omg 🥹🥹🥹hope you guys are ok ! And our President instead of taking care of other nations is better to take care of our people !! This is making me mad !
House is sadly gone now
The house fell tonight
We need a bigger dam!
Dam it!
Steve is missing hair on top!!!
Did Steve lose a bet or something??
When I saw this yesterday I thought for sure that white house would go
🙏🏻
That dam was fine when Donald was president.
The water would not have overflowed to the West side of the damp if the town had kept removing the debris built up along the damp. The debris built up along the damp acts like a beaver building a damp effect, which raises the water level and causes the water to overflow to the West side of the damp.
Damp.
Agreed. A little town, all by itself, somehow going to remove entire trees from in front of the dam during a raging flood.
@@thomasmaughan4798 LARGE equipment that have long reaching mechanical arms that can pick up ENTIRE trees- operated by only ONE man that sits in the booth using the control panel (like your kids play station control) surrounded by glass that operate the arm to swing -- then lower - grab entire tree - pick it up -swing back and dump it behind itself - repeat -+ clear the debris - water flows - There only needs to be ONE MAN in that itty bitty town that can operate it that was needed. Maybe another dozen MEN on the other side at least attempting to shore up the breech when it FIRST STARTED AND WAS little but they sat back and said flock it and watch the destruction.
😱O, DAM,🤐
Lol 😅😅😅
Boring story 🎉
😂😂 There's no such thing as mother nature. That's another lie from scool. You mean don't mess with God or his children? Cause he's in control of the water, the fire, the winds everything, but don't fear remember in the boat, father, God was sleeping when the storm was going on and he told our brothers to disciples why you fear in the storm. Cause remember he's in control. So the thing you should be doing is praying. Cause he's the only one that controls. He could calm every storm and every water. Remember who's in control of all waters and who can calm the storm? It's Christ, Jesus mother nature. Through your study on it, it's a false goddess. Don't be deceived of the false doctrine that they embedded in us and the false education. The real education is the holy scripture. And that is the truth, and the truth, to say you're free.❤
GOD IS IN CONTROL I SEE Prophecies being fulfilled from a sinful nation.❤ Remember the black horse is famine. This is all written people. Just don't see it in the spirit. Pray for spiritual discernment and ask the Holy Spirit.FATHER speak in, you just gotta speak to him and listen.❤❤
"GOD IS IN CONTROL"
Presumably. How does that help you or me?
"Pray for spiritual discernment and ask the Holy Spirit"
Good advice. Quite possibly someone did and was advised to move. Or build a boat. In Minnesota pretty much everyone has a boat.
REMOVE THE DAM!
