KTM (in their infinite wisdom) decided to stop making the RC8 because they felt sportbikes were too dangerous for the street and should only be used on a track. But some how the 1290 super duke is perfectly acceptable. Go figure.
They will produce it again dont worry since now they are making some serious steps in moto gp. I guess in a couple of years they will make it again
Rumour has it RC16 is coming......
@@pistolpete5805 1 rc16 every year is being sold right now. It's a collector bike, and along with the bike, you get Pol's leathers and a free tutorship from ktm. It's literally their MotoGP bike. And you CANT ride it on the road.

The bike didn't sell that well and needed to be updated to keep up with the competition. I think the whole "too dangerous" part is just an excuse.
I loved this bike, reviewed one back in 2014, super fast, no rider aids and everything was adjustable. Hopefully with KTM doing what they are in motoGP, that can bring in money for a new superbike.

Maxy! At the end of the vid he was trying to say the longer the wheel base the harder it is to get the front end up. Even a small adjustment of an inch of moving the wheel back from chain stretch is noticeable.
I owned a 2015 Rc8 for a short period of time in 2016. Miss how raw that thing was. I remember getting it delivered a day before cars and coffee and I kid you not there was a crowd around it. (Bonus: on the paper tag it had the make as 2015 Other)
Dude if that thing had a new LC8 engine in it, then you would have loved it and felt some real torque power. They need to make a 2021 upgraded RC8 bike.
Nice to see a review of an RC8. There's actually 2 gear indicators on that bike lol but the owner is right, ZERO electronics. See if you can find a newer model RC8 (2011 and up) they went with a twin spark on the motor, I'm also guessing that bike is stock. To the owner look up Jester86 exhausts, and strongly consider a Rottweiler intake, sas and O2 deletes. She'll be an absoloute weapon.

there is a gear indicator on it. switch to different display mode and it show gear as a big number.
RC8R is a great all around bike. I’ve had two of them. It’s all analog. No traction control, no ABS, no wheelie control....nothing.
Just bought one of these, waiting for some dryer warmer weather to unleash the beast.
Thinking of buying one next week. Thats why I'm here. Not sure yet.

And the RC8R is even better , I have ridden both and they are magic , the R has smoother power delivery and better suspension . But I loved the way I could carve up the weekend warriors through corners , so stable but very nimble and so easy to change line mid corner . One of my all time favourites
How does it do on the top end ? Top speed ? Compare it to a zx10 or a r1 gxr

You need to change the page on screen , it has a gear indicator in one of the pages , but if not your bike you probably didn't know to change it . I love my 13' RC8R , the slipper clutch is great on it . Would love to have a quick shifter though . Usually every time I go for a ride when we stop someone will come up and want to look the bike over or take a pic because they are a rare sort of beast . May trade it in for a Super Duke though .
I'm thinking of buying a 2008 next week , just here for research. Anything to look out for on them.
@@bg-gq7bf I would ask the owner how long he had the bike , If it was for a short time there probably is something wrong that's EXPENSIVE to fix . Find as low of mileage bike as you can . See if there is any extras such as engine oil and you can tell if it was taken care of or not if he used cheep oil .

I viewed a 2012 today , very happy with it's condition, crap weather so didn't ride , I'm going back tomorrow to take it out for half hour , I'll probably be taking it home :) I've decided to keep my Buell1125cr too . I've done too much work with it to pass it on . Thanks again :)
@@bg-gq7bf its all about the maintenance with these bikes , it can get expensive in a hurry . I bought mine from a retired Italian banker guy who had a heated garage full of Ducati's and the RC8R that I now own .
