They could have given this away for free, and people would have complained about paying for shipping. I am grateful we have new Heroscape! Let's support this thing!
Astute viewers might notice I didn't talk about people complaining about the cards -- it's cause I don't care I think they look fine. Quite frankly people are gonna be pissed unless everything looks just like Rise of the Valkyrie and is priced like Rise of the Valkyrie, even though Rise of the Valkyrie came out 20 years ago. Quite frankly I'm excited it's back, I don't have any real complaints, and people should be allowed to be hype for things.
Loving the positivity, way too many people/communities getting caught up in the negatives, but HEROSCAPE IS BACK and that alone is worth celebrating in any form.
For a group of people that call themselves “the community” or fans of Heroscape, all I’ve seen when looking up info on this game is complaining and crying. I get that die hard Heroscape people want certain things, but if Heroscape is gonna survive it needs new people coming into the game, and the Heroscape community and TH-camrs seem to be doing everything possible to stop new people from getting interested. It’s such a downer. Personally I’m stoked that Heroscape is back, but I have a feeling the Heroscape community is going to make sure this thing fails within a year. Such a shame.
Some fans complains about the price and the design. I complain because Renegade mistreated its playtesters and are trying to pretend it never happened. We are not the same
Salute to you Bro! 🎉 let’s crack open a cold one and sit back and wait patiently for August……. *Starts to pace around room* zooms in on forehead, sweat slowly begins to form sliding down near bulging eyes. “ I NEED IT!!!”
JOE! Great to see you here !! * LORD - IVD Pulls up a chair * " The spells have been cast, the ferryman has been paid now we wait for our beloved to RISE again.."
10 - 15% more my butt. That's just barely less than double the price of the unpainted Master Set. I'm still buying it, because I'm addicted to this game, but I wish they would be honest with us, and admit when they are wrong.
I have been collecting heroscape since I was like 14 or so. It started out with me seeing a video explaining the game and its mechanics - it grew into me collecting (almost) every piece (in the box) over the years. After being hyped and dissappointed after the Hasbro stuff, I was so exited that the game will actually be continued by Renegade. The fact that it is now real, looks good, IMHO is reasonably priced and will surely be shipped is like a dream coming true. I haven't really been involved in the drama about the playtesters, but the end result looks really good, and I really like that competitive Heroscape is coming to life with even a world championship. In my opinion, in contrast to what a lot of people think, this shows that Renegade actually cares about the game (at least to this/a good extend). Mr. Tabletop Bro, please let me know when your affiliate link is available, since I appreaceate you all this time making Heroscape videos even when the game was "completely dead". Proost from the Netherlands!
Given the $20 increase on the prenium battlepack and the $100 increase on the master set, I would estimate the price range of each painted figure to be a little over $3 for the typical figure and a significant increase for bigger figures, maxing out at $5 per figure in a box. I would say this is a really good deal considering the "bigger figures" in this limited example includes probably the biggest and bulkiest figure in Heroscape history(Aside from the Marro Hive) and the new Raelin figure. As far as the overall cost to product ratio increasing, I think this can be mostly attributed to the Hazlab campaign failing, and Renegade trying to guarantee getting their money's worth, which is a fair move on their part. My biggest issue is that we are not seeing the entirety of what was promised in Avalon Hill's masterset in wave 1, though with the proximity of wave 1 and wave 2 I would be able to swallow this if everything else came out in the second wave, so long as they are using that time to develop new plans for the IP beyond producing what Avalon Hill promised and then basically doubling the price and multiplying the packaging. Additionally, I am hoping that they either bring back old specialized terrain and produce new terrain pieces, though that might be on the backburner after getting Wellspring Water ontop of the terrain Avalon Hill designed.
I think they’re staggering the releases over two maybe three waves. Which I don’t hate. Keeps the hype going if you do multiple releases a year. We’ll see what sort of stuff they develop themselves
During the Avalon Hill launched, I bemoaned the lack of a premium edition with painted figures. I bemoan no more because Renegade DELIVERED, and they got my money!!!
I have ALL of the original stuff. Multiples upon multiples. I’m on the fence to just sell it and move along or to hop on the train and see where it goes. I guess I have a few months…
Fellow Scaper I too have everything of old.. and currently almost blind with no game shops anywhere around me, but I will play on and once again I shall find players .
New Heroscape! No idea if there’s a scene where I’m at though, and it seems unlikely. Maybe my local war game grinder store will try it? We can only hope
It sounds like renegade is really trying to put in the infrastructure with a sanctioned competitive scene and the battle network that will allow Heroscape to grow for the long term and hopefully become a main staple at any game store like DnD or Warhammer.
Never played Heroscape. Wanted to for a long time so I’ll probably pre-order. Do you think it would be worth getting both the Master Set and the Battle Box? Thanks.
I think the master set does a better job at giving you a good feel of the game. The Battle Box supplies you with six new units who all look really cool, but I think are more of a supplement to the Master Set than either a necessary thing or a good jumping in point. Does that make sense?
@@tabletopbroTotally! The Master Set is pretty much the base game and the Battle Box is basically an expansion to that. Thanks for the info! Now I just need to buy 15 copies of each and I’ll be good to go!
@@tabletopbro But they are Sci-Fi pirates-four arms, laser guns, etc. Nothing wrong with that, just not my thing. I'm hoping for the return of Roman Legionaries, Highlanders, WW2 GIs and Germans, that sort of troop. Also would love to see 'classic' monsters- the Wolfman/werewolves, the mummy, Vampires, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein's Monster......
Ok I recognize several songs you're playing in the background there but I can't for the life of me think of what they're from besides the smash ones at the beginning
I was about to pre-order from sir heroscape's link but I'm glad I waited because I would rather you have the support (no hate on sir heroscape). so hyppedd
Well, the original set was actually only $40 with 30 figures, ruins, and craptons of hexes, dice, etc. And regularly was on sale for $30 and occasionally for $20. Yeah, I don't know how it made any money either.
As someone who has been hating Games workshop recently due to their egregious prices. I’m definitely gonna be preordering. This is definitely more budget friendly
Welp, Hasbro(with a majority of help from Renegade's part) may have redeemed some respect from me. I'll be looking forward to the sets should they appear at my favorite game store. P.S. as for the prices, I'm taking inflation into account as well as the fact I have a job now(compared to my unemployed child self back then). P.P.S. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't hear this from Hasbro themselves. They can't advertise to save their company!
As someone new to the game, I have bought in despite the "community". Can barely stand visiting the discord and reddit for this game. Just constant complaining, a feeling of entitlement, and constant pressure on the design team to answer a neurotic level of mostly repetitive questions. For this game to return in a meaningful way, it will need to reach a much wider audience than the people who "kept the game alive". Thank you for the positivity! Criticism is fine but it also kills the hype. Especially if it is expressed in a childish way. You are a beacon in the community. Someone people can look at and think "I wouldn't mind playing a game of Heroscape with that guy".
Thanks! I really appreciate it! Some of the complaints during the reveal from people in chat were so eye roll worthy cause they’re such small complaints. I think they nailed it on everything that matters
Let’s just take what we can get, honestly as a diehard Heroscape fan I am willing to put aside my turbo nerd ego for just a decent survivability of Hersocape. We need to stop being so nit picky and just enjoy that it’s back and enjoy it for as long as we have it. (Because in all honesty I’d call it a miracle if we reach wave 3 before the hardcore fandom pushes renegade to the point of annoyance and abandoning ship.)😢
I think the price is pretty reasonable and that it was smart to offer painted and unpainted versions. Sadly, the initial release doesn't look like anything I'm interested in, partly because I have most of the older stuff. The abilities of the new units seem uninspired and the aesthetics are pretty off in my opinion. They went hard on the "I'm a pirate. Look at my buckles and pouches" theme, even on the soulborg admiral....meh. Hoping things turn around in wave 2 or I'll just stick to what I have and add C3V custom figures in as I go.
@philm.5153 I agree. A lot of comments on this video talk about complaining and crying but what I have seen is good criticism. The newer characters are a bit much. I’m not a fan of much of the side switching for characters even with a backstory behind it. Also I think people don’t like the new army cards because there’s so much unused space on it, like you’re recruiting a subpar character. I have no idea why they are leaning into a pirate theme so heavily, especially with the Marro hero. Heroscape has limitless themes and I hope they steer away from all the pirate stuff. It doesn’t make any sense to have pirate themed stuff for every faction. Einar should have had ACTUAL pirates, as it would kind of fit the theme with the odd timeline recruitment like with the samurai and the centurions. I’m glad heroscape is back, because it’s an IP where they can adjust course in any direction at any time which is why it’s amazing. But for me right now, I’m not impressed, and that’s ok for me and others to think that.
For this long-time Heroscaper, I find AoA a really tough sell. For $225 I get 20 figures. I don't need any terrain. So, the return on investment is terrible and hardly justifiable. Great for new players, really poor for us veterans. Oh well.......
They could have given this away for free, and people would have complained about paying for shipping. I am grateful we have new Heroscape! Let's support this thing!
@ThomasJ112 no one would've complained if all they had to pay was shipping, now your just being ridiculous.
Now that I'm an adult for this release I have adult money and that's quite dangerous

It's just paper.
