  • The country of Ethiopia celebrated its New Year on the same day as the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
Africa's second most populous nation follows a different calendar than what America goes by. The Ethiopian calendar begins in September and marks its years differently than the commonly used Gregorian calendar, and Saturday marked the first day of 2014 for Ethiopians.
Ethiopian American philosopher, author and leading member of Ethiopian royal congress, Lij Tedla Melaku, joins Marc Lamont Hill on “Black News Tonight” to talk about the significance of the Ethiopian calendar.
All this and more on “Black News Tonight.”
