    I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

    I paid 280 bucks for a used 24' aluminum 8 in. I beam, modded my bar with threaded rod, circular aluminum spacers and a 2x8. I cut all the 6x8 and 8x8 beams for my barn from wood off my property right where I cut them down and dragged the finished beams to the pad I put it on. I traded a bunch of 20' oak logs and some welding work to the Mennonite mill near my house for all the 1x8 siding, roof purlins and second story flooring. So for under 1500 bucks including fuel, craigslist windows and some labor from HS kids I have a 24x36 foot post and beam barn. It'll be another grand for roof metal and trim when summer comes and it's done. All that for less than this contraption

    Let the haters hate on price.. That is a beautiful piece of engineering. Good on ya. I can think of a couple situations it is not only perfect for, but would be worth the price. Granted those are long odds...

    $2,800 for a chainsaw platform?!?!?!😂😂😂😂 For that much, I will pay a little more for a bandsaw sawmill and get a much better and bigger cut. not to mention I can mount it on a trailer so I dont have to keep setting it up and taking it apart. I like the design but damn, it's not the cure for cancer!

    • @baltsosser
      @baltsosser 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I've seen good bandsaw versions that start at $3,200. I bet if I was patient I could find them on sale for a bit less. For the amount of wood lost because of the chain width, the price really should reflect that.

      Rick Stewart www.machines4u.com.au/view/advert/LOGOSOL-F2-Chainsaw-Mill-/404082/ $2,445 AUD, and the price isn't even listed on the Logosol site which is always a red flag for me.

      No idea what you're talking about with saying there are no prices on the site. I found plenty of prices on the Australian site: logosol.com.au/chainsaw-sawmills/f2-petrol The U.S. pages says: "Shop Online! All Logosol products may be ordered online at baileysonline.com" and it has a link right next to it. Then, you can find the F2 Chainsaw mill simply: www.baileysonline.com/Forestry-Woodcutting/Portable-Sawmills/Logosol-Portable-Sawmills/Logosol-M8-Chainsaw-Mills/Logosol-F2-Farmer-s-Sawmill-4-Meter.axd The prices is listed in big red font.
      Regardless, it is indeed a lot of money for a chainsaw mill. I was only refuting the 1,000 dollars Josh Beck had mentioned. I am much more inclined towards this sawmill: th-cam.com/video/9fyUMNAjVas/w-d-xo.html

    just make a bar device like at 3:57-3:58, get a straight H-beam and put it on top of the log, rest said bar device on H beam and make your initial cut, remove H-beam and slide bar across top of new fairly flat cut wood. once youve got rough cuts you can clean it up with a table saw or whatever youve got. youre welcome.

    Very expensive lesson to learn that bandsaw mills are the way to go. If you're going to even bother chainsaw milling just get a granberg hand held set up for $150.00. Even in remote areas it would be less time, money and effort to set up a bandsaw mill. Looks impressive on youtube but chainsaw milling is ridiculously slow, expensive, noisy and labor intensive. It just makes zero sense. Been there, done it, got a bandsaw and didn't look back.

    $ 2,800 для платформы с бензопилой?! В этом плане я заплачу немного больше за ленточную пилу и получаю намного лучший и больший разрез. Не говоря уже о том, что я могу установить его на трейлер, поэтому мне не нужно постоянно его настраивать и разбирать. Мне нравится дизайн, но, черт возьми, это не лекарство от рака!

      I sold my M8 and bought an F2+ sawmill. The F2+ (and the F2) can only do 1/4" clicks. This is somewhat limiting in terms of setting the thickness of the board you want. It's not an earthshaking limitation, but I would rather have 1/8 inch clicks.

Luckily I happen to be a machinist and was able to finish the incomplete parts with no help from logosol. Unless you have access to a machine shop, I would definitely think twice about purchasing this product. The customer service is just awful and they do not stand by their product.

    is this ultra portable sawmill available for sale in Canada. Also will it work with a Stihl MS 461 chainsaw. I am looking to cut in remote location. Basically transport the mill with a snowmobile or side by side via trailer. Basically assemble when on location then disassemble to move to next group of trees. 5 to 9 meter logs and lumber. Also interested the orange colour pole and bracket that connects to chainsaw bar and carriage.

    To bad that in Sweden you are not allowed to cut down trees in the forest you own without government approval, even thinning to get firewood must be reported to the government. And when you get approval for logging the eco fascists that has infiltrated Skogsstyrelsen (the government agency responsible) will declare you forest Nyckelbiotop (Key-Biotope) thus preventing you from ever logging or touching the area again, this without compensation.

    • @EanTxelan
      @EanTxelan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to search for a approval only if you're going to cut down larger amounts of trees. However, you need to report yearly to the government on what you take down, that includes smaller trees for firewood. And you can get on the good side with the "eco fascists" by changing your logging to a selective logging system. That way you can take down trees around the forest for a longer period of time and still have the key biotopes protected on your land!
