While I’m not sure that it mattered. On that last turn, Stephen HAD to attack before going to second main because of Jon’s Planeswalker
Thought the same but the outcome would have been the same nevertheless... attack John, Zndrslpt lives...Stephen would equip and ignite the world...
It does matter. If someone had killed the 1/4 when it attacked he wouldn't have a second creature to equip the lightning greaves to. I don't know if someone had something to kill the 1/4 when it was attacking or not, but it is relevant.
Ryan McClelland yes and no...In general you're right,but Justin was tapped out,Jeremy had nothing and John wasn't able to block...
Since Rowan's ability just says "attack if able",Stephen could hacve taken the safe road and attack John...
The outcome is still the same
Steven could have a second creature in hand as well, so it could have really not mattered at all. The choice of who he was attacking was never made and there were blockers that could kill a 1/4 on board, and some interaction is only relevant for tapped creatures which should have been their state during second main phase (especially in blue). All of that could be relevant, we just happen to know it wasn't. It's never good to assume that after making one mistake (missing the "must attack" trigger) that they wouldn't make a second mistake (like attacking Justin when Jon has no blockers) even though clearly there is a line of play that appears obvious.
tl;dr
I agree that it only half-matters because there was an obvious line. To me, it still matters that the player sees it themself. Not like this is some sanctioned event that needs rules enforcement in a format that's known for it's competitive nature like an SCG Modern Open or something, either way.

You guys should do an episode where each of your decks' must consist of only one card rarity. So one deck is all commons, one all uncommons, one all rares and one all mythic rares.

I kind of thought that when I got an alert for SCG Commander that all the legends were going to be Jeskai (MURICA) colors
I know it's early to request this one, but I'd like to see the Horde come back for the Halloween episode, was super sad you guys didn't do it last year.
I know that this wouldn't really change the outcome, but stephen was supposed to attack with all of his creatures before Chandra's ignition. Either way, his 96/96 would have survived.
He didn't have to. He could leave the Combat Step without attacking, which is what he announced.

First play from Stephen commander. He should have been able to keep that last card. He flips until he loses but it says whenever “a” player wins you draw a card not whenever “you” win. So technically if he is playing against an opponent they would have won the flip if Stephen lost
Coin flips aren't "against" any player; they are something that player does individually.

Hey team, Director Kyle needs his own Commander Vs Series playmat!
In my commander playgroup we are actually thinking of making a joined effort in creating the most chaotic Zndrsplt/Okaun deck ever with Warp World,Pyromancer's Goggles,Mana Clash and all other sorts of crazy stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated. We do have some good silly ones like Tide of War (from Justin's favorite set ever ;p),Chance Encounter,Stand or Fall and the aformentioned Mana Clash.
Best ending for Battlebond Commander and for July 4th!

This is the happiest he's been all season, and all they had to do was just give him 2 quarters.
Can we do recommendations for the next season? I would like to see an episode where you get an extra point, when you succesfully meld two cards. There were some attempts for it (most by Jeremy i guess) but you never got there. Otherwise it could be a fun Kyle extra rule card in a future colosseum of randnomness.

Wow, that coin flip deck is no joke. I think Steven won just from the first 4-6 draws that he got. I thought for sure he was gonna get gang up but nope.
They try to drag the game out as long as possible and rarely gang up on one player. And frankly, a coinflip deck isn't worth ganging up on unless you just want to remove a random element from the table.
Is that how ponder works?

Watching Stephen trying to understand his own cards, I'm not 100% convinced he can read.
Just started watching the episode and had an idea..... Winner should get to pick a card or commander the last place player has to run. Even make it a season champ reward to push commanders that don't see a lot of play.

My girlfriend was interested in using Will and Rowan for her next commander deck, but all the ideas on the internet seem to revolve around planeswalkers, which are beyond her budget. Wish we could have gotten some different, more unique ideas for using these commanders. I think their abilities are general enough to build a variety of archetypes, so people should experiment a bit more.
I'd have expected more spell-slinging archetypes, mostly because of Will, with Rowan providing some utility/control with easy access. I think the main problem is that Will&Rowan are a bit too general in their abilities. It makes them feel a bit bland/uninspiring imho.
Commander VS will take a week off (or more), but will there be anything else to watch this Wednesday?
