I think it's very good! Maynard is in a class all his own. I found what works on cover songs is to just use your voice and change it as needed if you can't hit the notes. I also find when I try harder to sound like the artist, it get's worse sometimes. It's always better to make it sound better your way then the original way and sound bad.
Old comment, but this is some great advice. Also sometimes with the dynamics that artists like Maynard use, it sounds like they're singing higher notes than they actually are, and that can really mess you up when trying to cover a song.
