Many thanks for this video! My Samsung C480 had very dirty prints. On inspection the drum was also very dirty. First cleaned the transport belt, but that did not help. It turned out that the toner waste reservoir in the drum unit was completely filled to the rim. So it couldn't clean the drum anymore. I removed the roller and shook out all toner waste. Cleaned the drum unit and voila: happy clean prints!
Thank you very much for this video. I was able to fix "image ghosting" on a Samsung CLP-315W by following your instructions to clean the charge roller with water. Imaging Unit was only at 1100pgs, 84% life remaining, but living in dry climate(Denver, CO) made the charge roller(and foam roller) ineffective at removing excess image toner. Imaging unit drum was diagnosed as culprit by measuring 7.5 vertical inches between original image and ghosted image. Again, 10,000 thanks.
Original factory units that come with the printer do not have the thermal fuse anyways. In order to reset the drum without the thermal fuse, just put a jumper across the terminals of the resistor (small piece of copper wire will do). Close the door and plug the printer in. It will say "Initialize..." followed by a flash of lights, after which it will most probably reset itself as it is unable to "blow" the fuse (the cycle will repeat itself indefinitely). At this point switch it off (unplug power) and take out the holder with the resistor again. Take the jumper off (break the wire) and put the holder back in. Close the door and let the printer startup. Tested on CLX-3300 series with CLT-R406 drum.
Thank you for the video. I have a Samsung C460W that began to have faded printing. Cleaned out the waste toner tank, the transfer belt, and finally the image drum per your videos. +viandant5 No problem. @@Dickwooten When the printer sees a drum unit with very little resistance, it assumes a new one has been installed. It has no way of recognizing the toner (or a new one) besides a low resistance path that became high resistance after trying to initialise it.

CLX DRUM SHAFT INSERTION: Samsung seem to use the same drum design for many of their printers esp CLX series but bearing different Model numbers. The most important point in dismantling and removing the drum shaft is a result of the internal electrical contacts that while rubbing on the shaft, allow a clean shaft to pass easily through them in only one direction. This is from the end bearing the gear (and internal contacts) towards the opposite end. Unfortunately this is not mentioned in this "Remanufacture" procedure but can be seen by carefully comparing both the disassembly and assembly segments of the video.
Hello, I have a question : when cleaning my printer (samsung clp315) last week I removed the drum unit and noticed that the drum was full of toner. I swipe the drum and turn it but still a lot of toner. I shake it and a lot of dust (probably toner) was getting out. I am wandering if this normal or not : should we have toner inside this unit ? I tried to shake it until no more dust is getting out but it lasted for long. Should I dismanteld it and clean it as shown ? Thanks.
Excellent video. I followed the instructions and did pretty much what you did on the video on my CLX-3185. Alas, it made no difference to the print quality at all. Still washed out colours. And now, a white line down the middle too. I must have left some dirt in the unit when reassembling it. Hey ho, if new unit doesn't solve it, I'm chucking the printer and buying a new one.At a loss of why it won't print colours out nicely. Black is more or less OK.

Hi, My CLP-325W printer worked fine when I put it away for storage in 2021. Now that I want to use it again I find that after the power-up sequence completes it shows a steady red light. All toner lights are off, so toners are good. All doors are fully closed. Paper tray properly fitted (with paper). Any ideas on how to fix it? It was a new printer when I got it several years ago so I'm guessing that there will only be one resistor currently fitted. Should I fit a resistor or try the reset thing? Thanks for your video and help.

Is the drum that should 'lubricated' with toner a NEW one, or the same one (called the 'old' drum when removing it) that was taken out? I just installed a new drum assembly and my 3170 still prints ghost text & images and strange horizontal black lines on the paper.

a ghosted print may be related to the drum or to the fuser unit. the distance of 188 mm is related to the drum but I don't think it's a wiper blade problem. Probably you have to change the OPC drum
Hehe... Just have a look when I gently pushed the wiper blade in the drum direction in a way of having a better contact on the drum you can see spectacular result on the right :

the space of 188 mm is related to the drum the developer roller is 26 mm but the ghost images are related to toner cartridge too. the developer roller is the roller covered with toner you can see on the toner cartridge
I found that my imaging unit had an overflowing toner that stacks up from the top. Following your guide, I cleared out the waste toner tank (there was a TON of powder). Let's see what happens.

I just subscribed. Thanks for your videos! I have a question. Toner got behind the lens array when was emptying the toner out of the cartridge. Can I remove the array? Do I blow it out with compressed air. Wash it with isopropyl alcohol? Not sure what to do. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
oh. never mind. I just did it. A quick puff of compressed air and the toner blew out.
Thanks.
The waste toner is contained inside the drum unit, so it's normal to have toner in the drum unit
@@viandant5 OK so it is wated toner, then I can clean it, this will not affect negatively the printing ?
@@fredericpageot3506 no, you can remove it. Or even let it there, it does not change nothing

How do I fix it?
yes it should be a drum problem. probably you have to change it
Hi, My CLP-325W printer worked fine when I put it away for storage in 2021.
It's a general error, perhaps the drum unit or toner waste box. If moved the toner could cover the windows of the sensor so you have an error message Are there addtional information in the printer folder?

Hi friend. Where can i find the foam / cleaning roller? My printer is a Samsung CLX 3185. I've been trying to find it but whitout any success.
I think nobody sells it. You can remove it fro another old drum unit
Good video very informative.
Hi I've apply your guide on my samsung CLX3175N, and i've same problem with a 5 millimeter black line at the top and another 1/3 of the darker leaf. When i print 3/4 pages, it's better on 3 and 4 pages. i don't succeed to see which piece i must change. thanks for support and thanks for your very best videos.
+Antoine Girard I would check the fusers, or the belt
+viandant5 thanks viandant5, i've unmount fuser and check it, don't seen something seems wrong. On belt, i see trace of precedent print, i've unmount it and clean it, without success. when i just do a copy without something on the window, i've trace on the page. thanks
+Antoine Girard I think it's something related to the fusers, that when are hotter after some copies work well. or may be a toner cartridge near the end of its life
What liquid was the green colored drum lubricated with?
It's toner powder
Cori Fung, you have a starter drum started drums do not have the fuse. you have to insert the new reset fuse near the colored fuse
Is the drum that should 'lubricated' with toner a NEW one, or the same one (called the 'old' drum when removing it) that was taken out? I just installed a new drum assembly and my 3170 still prints ghost text & images and strange horizontal black lines on the paper.
the lubrication only help the drum to rotate freely. probably you problem is related to fusers or toner cartridges
Thanks for your videos. I have followed your steps and it became obvious that my smudgy printing was due to waste toner everywhere after printing envelopes etc. After rebuilding I am still getting big patches of no or feint print but some decent print across the full page in places. Also, any pictures including the test page come out as a yellow smudge. Any ideas please?
may be one of the toner cartridge is near the end of its life. check if the developer rollers of the toner cartridges are fully covered with toner

Hello. Would you please shoot a video about how to dismantle the whole printer, especially the fuser. A paper is wrapped on the roller of the fuser and I don't know how to remove it!!
+Morhaf S I've done a video, search in this channel "how to remove transfer unit samsung clp 310"
Your Tips are Great!!.Thanks a lot.Only what everybody should remember" toner is harmfull so don't get in contact with skin, body or inhale ".Whats about the resistor to replace?...this is a normal 100k resistor,..so how should the system short or open it when the counter for drum is full??...maybee you know it?
TheFlyer67 yes you are right, toner is harmfull but probably not carcinogenic.
the fuser it's a normal thermal fuse 1/16A and it blow when you insert the drum into the machine. you'll find more information in the comment of khurram akhtar
coal miners stay yeas inside the mine
My name is humar...I saw in the video ..that you change the fuse in blue color... so can you tell me the value of this fuse are you wearing... the 100k, resistor I already changed it..so I only need the blue fuse..Thanks buddy for you excellent information and video too...Grazie e Arrivederci...
+Humarbugo Ballesteros it's not a resistor, itìs a thermal fuse. In order to reset the drum without the thermal fuse, just put a jumper
across the terminals of the resistor (small piece of copper wire will
do). Close the door and plug the printer in. It will say "Initialize..."
followed by a flash of lights, after which it will most probably reset
itself as it is unable to "blow" the fuse (the cycle will repeat itself
indefinitely). At this point switch it off (unplug power) and take out
the holder with the resistor again. Take the jumper off (break the wire)
and put the holder back in. Close the door and let the printer startup.
Well, it is printing very well now. However it seems to be making scraping sounds inside. i didn't see any suggestions to oil the drum axel - which is what it sounds like... Should i try this? Otherwise it seems to be printing just fine.
Have a super day and thanks for such a wonderful video! :)
+Frederick Frazelle yes, you can use a bit of lubricant oil or conductive grease on the drum axle. have a godd day you too

Hello friend, I have a big problem, clean the unit as mention it, but after installing all print command and all the leaves are blank, if I take the same copies, always leaves blank, nothing is printed.

Hello viandant5.

My printer is Samsung CLX 3305w and I wanna do this procedures because it's asking me to change the drum unit and it's very expensive. Btw, I have 3 doubts before. I would ask for your help. :)
+Thiago Mouço hi, which doubts?
Followed these instructions because my Samsung CLP365's drum needed to be reset. All seemed to go well. Put the printer back together and the status light went green, but whenever I try to print, the green status light just flashes slowly. Printer never starts. Just sits there for hours flashing the light. Any ideas what went wrong?
+wlcgblog you can view the status of the printer in Easy Printer Manager. If not already download, you can find it in the Samsung Download Center.
viandant5 OK, I installed it. It just says "Status: Warning" and then below it always says "Warming up. Please wait." Doesn't tell me anything else in detail. Wish it did.
When I try to print anything, the little status popup appears and says "Preparing Print Job", and the status light on the printer starts blinking, and that's where it stays. Even the popup stays on the screen.
+wlcgblog probably the fuse you use to reset the drum is wrong. remove that fuse and try insert the drum unit without that fuse
viandant5
Still nothing. Just sits there, "warming up" forever. Thinking it's time to have a funeral.
+wlcgblog I think it's related to the drum chip. this defect may happen when the fuse does not blow
Hi, i have followed your guide but i guess i have did something wrong. I tried printing a test page, but it only prints on the left most side for about 0.5cm thick. All the colors are there so the result is a heavy colored one. Any way to fix?
+Jepher Chang I think a component of the drum unit is out of position, may be the rod lens array. I suggest you to dismantle and reassemble again the drum unit.
tried dismantling and reassembling it. now the dirt i want to remove is back. but still no text/image
+Jepher Chang are you sure the defect is related to the drum?
+viandant5 not sure. but that's the only thing I have touched. I still have inks about 50+%
+Jepher Chang I think the rod les array is broken, dirty or out od position or the drum is not reassemble correctly and the developer roller is not in contact with the drum surface.
Hi Viandant! For the same problem, can I do this same procedure, for SAMSUNG XPRESS-460W? Thanks!
yes, it's the same
I assume your drum has been used for quite awhile. By cleaning it, does it help to last for even longer or it will just die after awhile.
+Jackson Boo Any ink reset guide?
+Jackson Boo cleaning the drum does not help to last longer. it only improve print quality
+viandant5 As the drum get older, the quality drop. By improving the quality = lasting longer? Or it just doesnt work that way?
+Jackson Boo It cno, it does not work in that way. the quality of a drum depends on the shape of its outer layer and light fatigue. cleaning a drum does not restore the outer layer
+viandant5 Ahh! I see, Thank you for the knowledge :D
