    Okay, I did this full workout yesterday and let me tell you. HOLY SHIT!!!! I'm dead today. I've never felt this way after a work out. James wasn't kidding when he told Kirby he wouldn't be able to get off the toilet. That said I might have pushed myself a little harder than I thought I was. I'm a big dude. (6' 1" 265 lbs) So I thought I could get away with lifting a bit heavier. Needless to say, today is a rest day. Thanks James, you seriously know what your doing and now I'm on my way to my 210 goal. Subbed!

    I began this program just over a week ago, after careful study of James techniques and can feel the benefits already. I have had extensive practice over the years with only a few stories of what I consider successful. I watch and then apply what I have learned. I am so very excited about this program. Thanks James!!!

      I seperate my leg days. One day is quad focus, so leg extensions, squat movement, leg press with quad emphasis. That day is legs only. The other day is leg curls, deadlift or rack pull, glute bridge or lunges, and shoulders. I do AM and PM workout on that day. Leg quad focus is the only workout where I do whole workout. Others are split AM and PM. So like Biceps AM and Chest PM. This gives me full energy and focus on that bodypart. Then I can recover energy stores before PM workout.

    • @clamum
      @clamum 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally do squats, lunges, romanian deadlift, leg extension (I need more quad focus cause I tend to lift with my hamstrings and glutes), calf raises. Brill

    Hey James, you have completely changed my perception on training and regenerated my motivation to get into the gym again. Your videos have great flow and logic. You do things a bit differently to everybody else. I've always wondered why my bench press hadn't grown my chest for example. Meanwhile my shoulders are getting too big. But you help explain that perfectly. Keep them up and I'm following Kirby too. Please please please do some videos on nutrition at some point! I'm keen to hear your views.

    Hi Mr. James! I'm a gamer but I always stay active. Your videos popped up under my suggested youtube vids and when I checked it out, I first thought to myself, "this guy is not alarming my bs meter at all!" I'm just a noob, but after trying all of your workouts except this leg one, I can clearly see that your giving us valuable info here. I've never felt such defined results! Now when I see you pick up the 15lbs.ers I am scared because I'll have to be starting with the 8's,, lol. This leg day terrifies me! Seriously though, thanks for keeping it 100, it goes a long way! When I show my friends they like your style as well. Thanks again!

      If you lift your upper body using your hamstring with your back straight, it's for hamstrings and is called a glute-ham raise
      If you round your back forward and then straighten it, it's for lower back and is called a Hyper extension. They look almost the same and often use the same equipment

    James, you are the man this workout kicked my butt. I did legs yesterday, following you step for step. My gym has the diamond shape bar to keep the weighs at your side, I have to be honest I didn't even put any weights on it and just focus on the form, and it was hella hard. I watch your videos on my phone to guide me through the workout, and I do feel the muscle working.

    You're amazing man. Thank you truly. Doing a PPL routine and so far your tips on Push exercises, im talking about wider shoulders, THROWING the lateral raises out for shoulders, taking the dumbell incline OUT AWAY from your shoulders (maybe wrong terminology but you know what I mean), and so many more tips helped me so much! The best was the cable flies with bringing elbows together! Got legs tomorrow so watching all your leg videos and back in a few days. Already seeing huge results! Thank you!!

    Trap bar....soooo underutilized & misunderstood I think. My gym doesn't have one so I bought one for home last year. Best investment. I have a weak low back due to being hit by a truck (landed on my tailbone, several bulging disks as result - getting better tho!!). I'm also a leggy gal so regular deadlifts & squats put a lot of strain on my low back w problems being getting the bar around my legs in a deadlift & too much forward lean in a squat. Trap bar is best of both without the back issues! Excellent for single leg deadlifts too. Loving your videos and major respect for how you are mentoring Kirby. His enthusiasm is endearing!

    Thanks for this! Legs are the area I struggle with the most, so I have been really looking forward to this video the most. Being 6'7", I've had knee issues. One thing I realized was that I was actually going a little too heavy on the hamstring curls. I started getting a sharp pain in the top of my right knee when I curled, so thanks for the reminder about not needing to go heavy.

    • @entspeak

    • @scottymcbuckets2802
      @scottymcbuckets2802 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +entspeak I know what you're going through. I'm 6'6" and I have knee pain doing squats/lunges. I'd love to hear James' thoughts on taller guys training legs. At 26, if I go ass to grass on squats, I'll be in a wheelchair by 40. Honestly, I'm not sure how to train my legs and I don't want to regret it in the long run.

    • @JamesGrage
      @JamesGrage  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey guys. This is one area where height can work against you. If you were to sit next to someone who is 6' you would see less of a difference in height than if you were to stand next to them. That's because a lot of height with taller people comes from their femurs. This puts you at a biomechanics disadvantage for squatting movements. Because of the longer length in your femurs, the more it pushes your pelvis backward (relative to your feet) as you squat down. The lower you go the more it forces you to lean forward to maintain your balance. Shorter people are definitely better built for squatting. My best advice is to not go as deep with your squats. Another possibility is putting a wedge under your heels to push you forward slightly. This will also put a little more emphasis on your quads. Hope this helps.

    He is soon right in the beginning when he is explaining why he starts with leg extensions and leg curls. This is 100% correct and I don't understand why people don't get this and, more importantly, why those giving advice (let's say on BB.com) always get this wrong. No matter how old you are, this is how you should start. What I don't understand is why does he do both back squats and dumbbell squats? I would chose dumbbell squats because it is the same exercise, but, with dumbbells, you eliminate the spinal compression.

    I seperate my leg days. One day is quad focus, so leg extensions, squat movement, leg press with quad emphasis. That day is legs only. The other day is leg curls, deadlift or rack pull, glute bridge or lunges, and shoulders. I do AM and PM workout on that day. GLUTES HAMS POSTERIOR CHAIN IN THE MORNING, THEN SHOULDERS LATER IN THE DAY. Leg quad focus is the only workout where I do whole workout. Others are split AM and PM. So like Biceps AM and Chest PM. This gives me full energy and focus on that bodypart. Then I can recover energy stores before PM workout. My year starts on my Birthday. So April is my start. Let's get it and see where we are next April 2021.

    Pre fatigue into 55 reps of squats into two types of lunges... damn I'd be laying flat on my face halfway through this workout! :o

    got to ask - deadlifts and squats look like the same exercise. How about good mornings with leg/lower back?
