gas charged are not only gas filled .They are partially filled by oil and partially by gas which reduces cavitation of oil during shock absorbing action and high heat/temperature thus extending the life of shock absorber.Moreover they are more comfortable than oil ones .the spring based shock absorber have oil in them and all shock absorber have spring in them.The difference comes by their damping action performed by which medium/substance(oil/oil+gas)
