73 was my first car. Learned a lot of what it takes to keep it running. lessons served me well over the years. Lots of memories heading up and down the coast chasing waves and chicks lol!!
I remember when these came out new, people had a hype for this when it was new, the 60s generation had a another hype for it and todays generation has a like for the beetle too. seldom a car model has this much likes over so much time. Volkswagen made the car and people made Volkswagen.
If the owner says it is a standard bug then so be it. Clive Prew's book and the book VW : Then, Now and Forever describes explicitly what a standard bug is. A 74 standard bug has a 1.3L engine or 1300A. This has a 1600cc engine. I am not the owner of this yellow bug and if the owner says it is a standard bug, so be it. Padded dash for a standard and big turn signals on the fenders??? Again the owner said its a standard to him.
@@cmilk6177 USA is the main market of VWs during the 60s and the 70s. In the USA, any beetle that is not a Super Beetle is a standard beetle. In our country 🇵🇭 and some countries, with the birth of the Super Beetle in 1971, we have three choices - the Super Beetle, the de luxe and the standard. That is because we are a third world country. So the yellow beetle is your version of a standard beetle.
Joey Sarmiento I own a 73 standard beetle. I am very aware of the differences. You can tell this model doesn’t have the extended trunk, or the vented front allowing for a air conditioning conversion.
@@2GR_XSE @Hector Manuel in the United States this is considered a Standard Beetle. What makes it a Super? The vertical spare? The flat dash? The flat windshield?
