crazy how this is now almost 10 years old. I got into Glassjaw right around when this was uploaded and 10 years before that point Worship and Tribute was still new.
As I do agree that it's cool that they do everything DIY I do have to admit that I was there for this set and they definitely had the worst sound out of every other band that I watched that weekend. Great set regardless, but the quality of sound could have been mixed much better.
Drummer is immense. People talking poo obviously can't appreciate drummers with solid tempo and don't resort to double peddle/sheer speed in order to put in a good performance. Decent cultural vibes in there too.
You do realize that Larry never appeared on a Glassjaw recording right? Sammy played on EYEWTKAS and Shannon Larkin played on W/T. He was serviceable live, but that's about it.
@@chevin79 Sammy was a late fill in for Durijah who was fired for reasons nobody talks about? Similar situation with Larry Gorman. Ross Robinson likes the the whole band mic'd up in one room, no metronome. He wasn't used to that which I find odd cause he played on old Fountinhead and Orange 9mm EPs. Guess they played to a click on those classics too? Anyway Larry did backround vocals on W&T, and Ross had just did the Amen record, so they got Shannon Larkin. Continuing with the tread they had Billy from Dillinger Escape Plan on Material Control on all songs but Strange Hours which current touring drummer, Chad Hasty played on.
I have seen them 23 times and every single time it's been amazing. Every few years their live shows sound different and I love it. Wish they toured as much as they used to.
Only because I lived in Long Island my whole life and was willing to travel as well. I've had shows get canceled as well. They used to play every 3 Months or so.
I wouldn't say it was a weak emotional performance by Daryl, keep in mind he has Crohns disease and it affects him constantly, so to even to get up on stage and give as much as he does is amazing
I perceive since reforming, they've traded some of their crazy unstable energy for more intricate composition and pushing the envelope a bit more as far as song-writing. Best direction for them to go in, in my opinion. We all get older and it's not as exciting seeing a few thirty somethings jumping around on stage only to exhaust themselves after 5 songs.
for all those bitching about quality, keep in mind this is recorded on a device not meant for quality recordings, and the fact that glassjaw has barely been a band for the past like, 10 years, with their last FULL LENGTH release being in 2002. They probably practiced only a few times before this show. That's how bands like that operate.
Do you not see the audience in this video? If that's their fanbase, then i'm probably one of the youngest fans and I'm 21. Lots of people my age do not listen to this band, and it's a shame too because these guys are very talented.
Im sad he skipped my favorite vocal part towards the end of Pretty Lush... I wish he was healthy enough to keep doing shows. I was always too young to go see them.
That was an awesome concert!!! I wish I could of been there... I never saw Glassjaw live, but I did see Head Automatica open up for Thrice and Dashboard Confessional. Also... just wanted to tell the people that talk shit on youtube... I don't care what you have to say unless you're running it about Glassjaw.... and if you are you should shut your fucking mouths!!! Glassjaw Owns!!!
i walked away from this show to see suicidal tendencies. i was almost at the stage on the other side of the park when i heard 1:30. it had to be the loudest feedback I've ever heard live. wish i could've stayed to check it out a little longer.
i think after he laid low on glassjaw and worked hard on head automatica. i come to think he approach is more honed in on singing instead of wild screaming,
This was the last best line up they had, chad and Travis are still awesome and a good fit for glassjaw now, but manny and durijah were something else entirely
Very true. To be honest though I was at this show and what you don't see is the wild pit on the right side of the crowd. It was a pretty awesome pit. But it was a pretty damn dead crowd for Glassjaw.
I have to disagree with you. I've been to a few concerts where it's a sea of phones, but for the most part I've seen everyone completely immersed in the music and the atmosphere. And the last concert I went to was an endless mass of crowdsurfing and stage-diving.
When did Daryl start strutting around like Robbie Williams? Comes across very arrogant. It's all a bit lacklustre, this gig. Still, glad to see them still playing together. Their first two albums are outstanding.
In 1981 video killed the radio star. In 2013 the iphone killed the mosh pit, the dance pit, the crowd surfer and the stage dive. Concerts fucking suck balls now.
GJ play shows for all the oldheads that still like their music, myself included. It's not the 90's/early 00's anymore and they've accepted it. Play music for those who still come out to shows who just want to hear some old classics and new jams.
can someone tell me what happened with Daryl? something about his health? what happened to this drummer because when I saw them this year (2016) it was a black guy. they also changed bassists.
Ugh idk about this show its a little mellow like daryl isnt into it same for the drummer. Watch tjose old festival shows then watch this then energy is different

crazy how this is now almost 10 years old. I got into Glassjaw right around when this was uploaded and 10 years before that point Worship and Tribute was still new.
no drum tech, no guitar techs. no introduction...thats fuckin awesome!
They do basically everything themselves, aside from the distribution of physical merchandise.
Nick Thomas actually, they do the distribution themselves as well. merchdirect.com was created by Beck
As I do agree that it's cool that they do everything DIY I do have to admit that I was there for this set and they definitely had the worst sound out of every other band that I watched that weekend. Great set regardless, but the quality of sound could have been mixed much better.

this times one billion. I read a comment that Larry is a better drummer. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks.
They're both good for different reasons. Personal preference means I enjoy Durijah more but it's fine to like both for very different reasons!
You do realize that Larry never appeared on a Glassjaw recording right? Sammy played on EYEWTKAS and Shannon Larkin played on W/T. He was serviceable live, but that's about it.
MrVesanique I feel ya man. Everyone has their preferences.
@@chevin79 Sammy was a late fill in for Durijah who was fired for reasons nobody talks about? Similar situation with Larry Gorman. This is one of the funnest ones we've played in recent memory.
please come to the UK with this set it's fucking brilliant
come to San Diego man, I haven't been to a good ass concert in a long time now.
Holy shit it's the real fucking Daryl Palumbo.
They're coming to San Diego this March btw
ye I know, stoked as shit
I have seen them 23 times and every single time it's been amazing. Every few years their live shows sound different and I love it. Wish they toured as much as they used to.
Only because I lived in Long Island my whole life and was willing to travel as well. I've had shows get canceled as well. They used to play every 3 Months or so.
I love how loud the bass is in the mix for this set. This should be a standard for their live mixes.
Why can't more bands be this awesome!
dude this set fucking killed, i don't know what is with all the grief these guys are getting.
You are the best. You have sets from Chiodos and my favorite, Glassjaw. Keep up the awesome work dude
I wouldn't say it was a weak emotional performance by Daryl, keep in mind he has Crohns disease and it affects him constantly, so to even to get up on stage and give as much as he does is amazing
Thank you!
Hey me and my boyfriend are in this video lol!!!!! We are in the front, he is the guy with the go pro and tattoos!! Love the video
They're old, we're old. I used to mosh to them when I was 15, I'm now 28, fuck that noise. They sound better than ever, I don't want to mosh anymore!!
im 27 and I am not old
blisterpacman seeing them in a few days
+blisterpacman you sure don't act like you're 27
+jerrytimes shieeet. I'm 33, and will throwdown at whatever show I'm at. When I stop getting energetic at shows is when I'll stop going to shows.
I'm 22 and I sure wish I was born in your Era to witness glassjaw in their glory days. Music just isn't as unique as they are
It's Glassjaw, It's Live!! the sound is pretty sweet, i'm one happy Glassjaw fan :D
Flew to this Show from LA. How could I not resist this legendary line up?
They've still got it. So much improv, it's making me want to cry with joy.
Sounds sick. A lot of people are complaining here - I can't see why. What more do you want to hear from a recording like this? Band sounds tight.
glass jaw is on some sort of slow motion nowadays. i thought maybe i was too drunk when I saw them but this confirms it lol
This was amazing!!
Exactly!
holy shit such a good set
Met these guys at a small venue it was crazy amazing
for all those bitching about quality, keep in mind this is recorded on a device not meant for quality recordings, and the fact that glassjaw has barely been a band for the past like, 10 years, with their last FULL LENGTH release being in 2002. AWESOME FOOTAGE
38:25 he hit the cymbal so hard it rolled off the kit!
Dude, they need todd or another second guitarist back. The old songs just lack that punch live now.
hey, is true, and the drummer is bored, i dont like Durijah,
I was at the cd release show for everything.....back in the dayyyyyyy before most of y'all were born I bet. They do still got it though.
Fuck they were soo good. Loved them!!! Nothing like getting blazed and listening to some Glass.
BEST SET EVER!
Fucking yeah man. Hope they tour UK soon
drummer is tight as fuck. lacking second guitarist for all the old stuff
Saw them in Houston!!
Missing these guys something fierce!
Such an awesome show. Lennon sounds so fucking sick.
Durijah Lang is a fucking sick drummer.
Bless you
dude nice!
Daryl's vocal performance in this is very impressive, in my opinion. No backing vocals for fills or anything.. There isn't even a second mic...
Que pedazo de banda!
worship and tribute ya hear me
Do you not see the audience in this video? If that's their fanbase, then i'm probably one of the youngest fans and I'm 21. Lots of people my age do not listen to this band, and it's a shame too because these guys are very talented.
The best Ive heard him. Granted he doesnt jump around but that was years ago.
i can see the outline of darryls palumbo...
Im sad he skipped my favorite vocal part towards the end of Pretty Lush... I wish he was healthy enough to keep doing shows. I was always too young to go see them.
Got me bro, got me good.
I think Babe was their best performance for this set. :)
I was so there... Can I do it again.
To be in glassjaw you must hold your instrument at neck level. It's a crazy rule!
Wow, no way, someone give this guy a cookie.
i walked away from this show to see suicidal tendencies. i was almost at the stage on the other side of the park when i heard 1:30. it had to be the loudest feedback I've ever heard live. wish i could've stayed to check it out a little longer.
wish Ross Robinson was there to produce the concert
hahah
watch Beck at 3:40 and be stunned at how awesome he is
Its not a hard technique son, its barely a technique actually. Dont be so easily impressed.
Good band though.
KillSwitch66627 yeah. I'm gonna continue being impressed by Justin Beck
KillSwitch66627 glassjaw's so damn easy, glassjaw's the best. adam's riffs are easy, adam's the best.
+Tim Balch he is telling the monitor guy he wants to be louder in his monitor..
Beck is an absolute BEAST of a player/writer for sure!!! His counter melodies and choice of chord voicings own face!!!
i think after he laid low on glassjaw and worked hard on head automatica. i come to think he approach is more honed in on singing instead of wild screaming,
not many drummers are so predominant in the use of their right hand on the snare.
43:53 feel ya bro, that whole album is amazing and must be played all in a row hahahahahahahaha
True dat. My fault. Didn't put two and two together.
Bring back the line up from everything you wanted.to know about silence ..or least Todd in the mix
Check out the band Love a Lunatic
Http://www.reverbnation.com/lovealunatic
DEFTONES!!!
Is it just me or can anyone else just hear that Deftones element in their music...or at least the old Deftones music? I fuckin love it.
TheIranxican yeah except glassJaw is better
Woulda been awesome if you got pit footage. Try to get a good balance between the crowd and the band next time.
This was the last best line up they had, chad and Travis are still awesome and a good fit for glassjaw now, but manny and durijah were something else entirely
Groove.
I was there as well
To be fair, he come`s good after half a hour.
he kilt the whole set
38:24 bye bye cymbal
fuck XD
daryl w-u rest... no way.
ure a big one daryl y la csm!
That guitar sound at 16:33 is fucking ridiculous
faltaron más del EYEWKAS :(
..well at least they showed up.
+Christian Beaupre Best Comment I've ever seen.
+Christian Beaupre Yikes.
@christian beaupre deserves Daryl’s Chrons disease
Very true. To be honest though I was at this show and what you don't see is the wild pit on the right side of the crowd. It was a pretty awesome pit. But it was a pretty damn dead crowd for Glassjaw.
He looks like Robert Downey jr. Band is still soo badass.
Look at them now and think what could have been. Least they didn't sell out....
Old man still got it.
What song was that , that was right before the 24:30 mark ? Thanks
+mdsvtr It's call Stars. There are many versions of it; they've redone it many times. This version is found on their ep Our color Green
awesome, thank you
Hahahaha he's so baked!
Their first two albums are outstanding.
he looks like zane from one D.
They have been around since '93. So he is assuming most people watching this are less than 21. Probably correct.
Daryl looks like Bobby from Scary Movie here...just sayin
CIDdrums Hahaha holy fuck what have you done?
In 1981 video killed the radio star. In 2013 the iphone killed the mosh pit, the dance pit, the crowd surfer and the stage dive. Concerts fucking suck balls now.
Justin Beck
lol that's me crowd surfing at 45:02 and 55:42
who was there?!
Cool sound ! Not the same glassjaw from 2003 .daryl changed , same as the other guys . Before headautomatica was the best years !
Palumbo's excess of improvisation had fucked up some musics here. And where the hell are the mosh pits? Is this a rock show or what?
I don't think just nodding your head is a big deal. It's better than moshing the shit out of you.
also, most of the fan base are in their late 20's to early 30's. moshing is reserved for metal shows and 16 year olds.
I don't know what's up with Daryl's health, but Manny and Durijah quit last year. They were replaced by the former rhythm section of Glass Cloud
he has crohns disease.
i thought Daryl was doing a pretty mediocre job... until Pretty Lush- He fuckin nailed it.
Would have killed anyone standing side stage who thought they were too cool to sing along just to be there.
All the 15 year old chicks disappeared now mainly gid music fans huh? Cool.
Hope they put out something good soon cuz their last EP sucked
You would have not.
who are the posers on the side of the stage.
There was alot of drugs at Riotfest lol. Security checks were so weak.
the award goes to... WORST CROWD EVER!!!
42:30 - "...I am tied to the whipping post, tied to the whippig post!"
Unprecedented musical group, terrible sound tho ;P
Illuminati
Ugh idk about this show its a little mellow like daryl isnt into it same for the drummer. Watch tjose old festival shows then watch this then energy is different
They're old. haha. After his disease and the changing of members, they're going a more mellow route. He just can't scream the whole set anymore.
