    As a broke, self-taught bassist, thank you for this and every free lesson you give. I have stumbled upon all of these techniques, but the way you put them in the context of the overall beat expands my ability to use them.

    I like the way you called it a 'Triplet BASS rhythm' not a TRIPLET rhythm, period. Just in case we cannot identify the instrument we have in our hands?!?! Anyway, a cracking little lesson there, Mr. Devine. Top job!!!!

    You could also move that triplet around, starting with the pluck. Cool trick - thanks!

    Reminds me of the bass that they used to have on the TV show Night Court. I just notice these kinda things. They had a really awesome Bass player on that program.

      The guy who composed the theme for Night Court is the same composer for the Barney Miller theme. Cheers!

    Pardon my ignorance.what kind of glove do you use,and how does it help to play the bass?

    • @devinebass
      @devinebass  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reason Scott sometimes wears gloves is because he has a neurological condition called Focal Dystonia and the gloves prevent him from having involuntary muscle movements. Scott just looks for Musician Gloves on Amazon 👍 and chooses the ones he likes!

    Hey just wanted to ask ....insaw the glove you have while you play ...can you explain what it is ...?? Is it for playing .or a medical thing ...thank you

    • @devinebass

      Thanks for enquiring about the gloves Scott uses.
      Unfortunately he has to use them as he suffers from a neurological condition called 'Focal Dystonia'.
      So... before you run out and buy a pair of black gloves - save yourself the money. If he didn't have to use the gloves he definitely wouldn't be using them.
      If you do have a similar condition - they are simply tight, thin woolen gloves that you can find in most camping stores or on Amazon.

      Hope that helps.

    In the downloaded doc Example 1 it seems tab reports swapped 7 with 5. I'm guitarist but I like your lessons. Greetings from Rome

    Is slapping coming back into fashion now? Felt like for a while it was being vilified for being overblown and cliche.

    • @zamkowicz
      @zamkowicz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it ever went out of fashion then Davie504, Charles Berthoud and the likes wouldn't have million-high sub counts. It's as popular as ever
      It probably gets hate from a certain kind of bass player in the comment sections of bass gear videos, but those guys will hate anything that's not a Motown bassline played on a 60s p-bass

    • @carlkermode899

      @@zamkowicz Like I said, it was just a feeling. Should have clarified that it was not my opinion, as I love slap. Each to their own though.

      Get a squire or sire
      Buy used pups and or preamp
      Run into helix Or hx stomp
      And you can sound However you want
      No excuses anymore
