That is the standard for any form of MCB level crossing. There must be plenty of time for the crossing to be cleared of road traffic and pedestrians, and also give time before the train reaches the caution/preliminary caution signal (can be roughly two/four miles away) so that the train is not kept waiting.
@@KarlRobertson1984 I was asking someone I know about this and apparently you're supposed to have a category C license to even ride as a passenger in a truck. I'm not sure if this is the law or just their insurance policy, I hold a category D so I can carry many passengers but with a bus or coach.
Jamie Perks The guy in the orange was probably on the phone to the control room, and told them when it was safe to bring down the gates. I don't think a truck would want to get stuck on the crossing. See how he stops the truck while on the phone, that's when he must have told the control room to bring down the gates.
Either the CCTV Cameras had failed, and he was acting as attendant to inform the Signaller/Crossing Keeper that the crossing was clear once the barriers were down, or due to the carnival and potential increase in the crossing use for the day he was put on watch to assist the Signaller/Crossing Keeper on when to lower the barriers.
Great video! The marching band at the beginning reminds me of when my brother was in marching band when he was in high school.
That’s me and me dad behind the band in the mrb transport truck lol 😂
Oh nice one! Hi! haha
Omg A Ridiculous place for a carnival or whatever its called!
Another Great SCLC Video! 👍
Beautiful country... beautiful people
Wow. Nice. I was expecting this to happen. I guess the Totton carnival couldnt really go elsewhere.
Does Kent have any carnivals? I haven't seen one when I lived there.
There's been carnivals at Deal, Dover, Herne Bay, Margate, Paddock Wood, Ramsgate, Isle of Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Tonbridge over this summer.
Thanks. Warsop also had one. Yet to upload the video lol.
Level Crossings Railway Channel Btw I live there... And this explained my the carnival always stops xD
Level Crossings Railway Channelu
Wow. Over two minutes between gates closed and train passing.
@fiskur tjorn Yes, because it's not an automatic crossing but controlled by a signaller.

Well this was action packed
I've seen videos of a few American parades held up a railroad crossings, but never a British one! I guess this was why the crossing keeper was here!
CrossCountry here to ruin the day!
Great video*
What was the tune that the band was playing?
Where’s the train?
Looks like the organizanised got it planned to perfectly judging by the the guy in the hivis on the right
The song is Easy loveeeee
That song is a highkey bop
This is gonna hold up the carnival parade ,
Well that's probably one of the weirdest carnivals I've seen.
Oh no the other half of the band is left behind thanks to be late to get across the level crossing
I guess not usually crossing keeper?
There's not normally a person at the crossing, like there is in the video, but this crossing is controlled by a signaller in Eastleigh signal box.
Great video

*-*Luigi-** Train interupts the party
I was cycling down here and the gates were down and went, Uhhh. Then I was notified that they were stuck an had to go on a +2 mile detour.😂
Isn't that illegal having people in the back of a truck?
Not on carnival days. I believe they need special permission to do it
