Jeff Jarrett didn't leave WWF to start TNA. He left after that match to go back to WCW. He started TNA after WWE bought WCW and Vince publicly fired Jeff on National TV. Jeff needed somewhere to go and there was no where to go. So he started his own promotion with his dad.
I think it was a joke because this is when WCW was already dying. And it is from the WCW death fallout that TNA was born. Or maybe he made a mistake. Or maybe he was just try to troll all of us by saying something he knew would blow up the comments section. 😂
Jiggle Maballs LMFAO 😂 I don't think they'd need to bring back Vince Russo to do a "pole on a pole" match. With how poor booking has been as of late, nothing about this fantastic, brilliant concept for a gimmick match seems too far outside the realm of possibility. I am eagerly awaiting the "Pole on a Pole" Match. Perhaps we can go one better, swipe out one letter, and do "The Pope on a Pole" Match. Just imagine the ratings and rave reviews! The Pope On A Pole... make it happen, Creative!
By not being a wrestling fan don't know too much about that Bray Wyatt match, but I do know that I absolutely loved the Firefly Funhouse match against John Cena. Best horror movie I've seen this year.
Lethal Lock Down and the Asylum match are very similar to the Lions Den Weapons match in that weapons were hung on the cage and could be used against your opponent . The Lions Den Weapons match happened at SummerSlam 1999 between Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman this match only happened once as well iirc .
As I remember the rules of the match was just essentially you play lucky dip with the boxes, one has the title, the others random items. Now I believe that edition of Nitro took place in San Fran, so I think the naming 49ers match was just a bizarre idea to pop the crowd some how, and justified it by one of the random objects being a baseball glove.
I realize that this is a 2 year old video but I think that the eye for an eye match with Seth and Rey. I also think that the Swamp match between The Fiend and Braun qualifies too.
Kevin Anderson I believe you’re referring to the Fight for the Right Tournament in TNA? If so, it happened twice. The first was in 2006, and the second was in 2007.
The blindfold cage match technically happened more than once. At the first Lockdown ppv Dustin Rhodes and Bobby Roode had a 2/3 falls match where the third fall was under blindfold rules
Man I loved the Duchess of Queensbury rules match, it happened right around when I was getting into wrestling as a kid and it had two of the greatest of all time in it :)
There was the "Lights Out" match between Rock & Booker T in '01 or '02. You won by knocking your opponent unconscious. Basically last man standing without the ten count.
Mulder's Gaming I actually thought the psychology of that match was great! Sure, it was slow by today's standards, but it was a good way to finish their feud and centred on Jake's snake-like 6th sense and him trying to hit the DDT
Actually.. Martel had a blindfold match a few weeks earlier vs koko b ware on the wreslemania 7 superstars and stripes special.. thats where it should have ended.. but obviously the jake/martel match was already anounced for wm7
Jake Roberts and Rick Martel had a blindfold match at Wrestlemania 7. Pretty good match as well, Jake using crowd response to pointing around the ring to find Martel, luring him into moves by making noise etc.
For those of you who don't know since apparently What Culture doesn't, Jeff Jarrett didn't leave WWE to go start TNA, he left to go back to WCW, the idea for TNA wouldn't happen until after WCW went under. The Concept of TNA originated during a fishing trip between Bob Ryder, Jeff Jarrett, and Jerry Jarrett in 2001, i honestly don't know why What Culture doesn't know this but from a lot of the videos that i've seen of theirs and from the comments i've seen on some videos, they seem to focus on the negative's of pro wrestling, i legit hope that they start getting their information right before they start making youtube videos
And regarding the Kennel From Hell match..........I highly recommend watching the version of the match that featured Mick Foley and Kevin Kelly doing alternate commentary for it because it is absolute gold.
Is there a genuine reason these guys never include Lucha Underground on these lists? They make fun of TNA normally and still talk about it, while they've acknowledged LU is a good show but never give it a spot on any lists.
KinamOfMyth How did you wrote that comment yesterday ? But anyway, I haven't watched a lot of L.U. but so far the only things that I dislike are the backstage segments and the intergender match, besides that it's a very good wrestling show
Jules, Jeff Jarrett didn't leave in 1999 to start TNA, he didn't start TNA until 2002, he left for another stint in WCW, where because he was Vince Russo's Golden Boy, he would headline.
There was a match that I think was called a brickhouse battle royal in early 80's WWF. It was a battle royal where wrestlers could wear anything to the ring. Don Muraco had on a Jets Helmet, Mr Fuju was wearing samurai armor, I remember them doing promos for it but can't find it anywhere on the internet.
A couple more come to mind: Raven's "Clockwork Orange House of Fun" match in TNA, for one. Also, last month, TIW introduced the "Treasure Chest Challenge" match, in which the competitors beat each other up while searching for keys that open treasure chests, which contain maps that lead to the next key for the next chest, and once all the chests are opened.......wait for it......it becomes a regular match.
Jake Roberts and Rick Martel had a blindfold match at WMVII. I honestly thought it was a one-of-a-kind match until this list. And it just got made worse with a steel cage lol
What about that tna match where the steel cage was "electric." I remember being excited to see it at the time and when the match finally came on it was the stupidest thing I had ever seen. It was so obvious that the cage wasn't electric at all and it was so stupid cause any time someone touched the cage the lights would start to flicker and the most generic sound for electricity would play on the speakers. Also all the wrestlers over acted and made it just so cringy. I remember the fans in the arena were booing the match too.
Good Housekeeping Match. The match where using the IC title belt didn't count because it wasn't a household item but a guitar over the head does count. And no mention of the Hardcore Evening Gown Match?
Definetely agree that Storm vs Harris blindfold match was terrible but they did have an epic Texas Death match in the next ppv which delivered perfectly what the fans were looking for. One of the best TNA matches imo
Do yourself a favor go and find the video where Al Snow talks about this match. It is quite funny. Al says"your getting trained dogs right?" Russo replies "yeah we are getting dogs." . Al lifts an eye brow.
You shouldn't have put House of Horror match in this list. That match is relatively new and chances are that it can happen again down the road when/if they push Bray.
You didnt mention the "FIGHT FOR THE RIGHT" match, you know: The match which started with a reverse battle royal, then a normal battle royal and then a match between the last two people. Good old TNA
Jeff Jarrett was leaving to join WCW not leaving to start TNA at that time. He only started TNA after Vince bought WCW and fired him live on air while he was a member of the WCW roster.
TNA actually did TWO blindfold steel cage matches. People always forget the Dustin Rhodes/Bobby Roode match from 2005. Good Lord get a load of this. It was called "The Prince of Darkness Death Match" Two out of three falls, third fall is a blindfold match, and all in a steel cage. Good grief.
That San Francisco 49ers match sounds just like a match that happened in TNA involving their women wrestlers. Four boxes on poles with four different things in them, one of which was the TNA Knockouts Championship.
I always thought the 49ers match was a pretty interesting gimmick match. Particularly if implemented with a ladder match stipulation. Never knowing what you going to get is always fun.
I agree that the Duchess Of Queensbury Rules match was 1) awesome and 2) should never be done again. As for one's missed, I'd have included IWA Japan's House Death Match, though in the back of my mind, I'm thinking it might have happened twice. Then again, if you start taking into account various Japanese Death Matches, the list would have to be 4 times as long.
Jarret left to go to WCW, where he became a nWo member, he did not begin working on making TNA/Impact/GFW until the year after WCW was bought out by WWE.
Lumberjack Strap match at WCW Uncensored. Curt Hennig and Barry Windham vs Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, with a load of other guys on the outside. The main difference between this and a normal Lumberjack Match is the guys on the outside got to whip anyone who left the ring with their belts instead of just throwing them back in
There were actually 2 blindfold cage matches. Storm vs Harris is the famous one, but in the original Lockdown in 2005 Dustin Rhodes faced Bobby Roode in a "Prince of Darkness" Match, which was two out of three falls with the third fall being a blindfold cage match. I guess that's different enough that they count as two separate match types, but the point is TNA actually did put on a blindfold cage match twice, because of course TNA did.
Pretty sure Jeff Jarrett didn't start TNA in 1999.
it was 2002 while on a fishing trip with jerry
evrbody I think he means to start his tna run
I think it was a joke because this is when WCW was already dying. And it is from the WCW death fallout that TNA was born.
Or maybe he made a mistake.
Or maybe he was just try to troll all of us by saying something he knew would blow up the comments section. 😂
Zohn Engelhardt that doesn't make sense
evrbody yep 2001
Judy Bagwell on a pole match.
Exodia Wolfe forklift*
Ry B Shit. You're right lol.
That was my pick for number 1. I'm shocked that it wasn't even number 11 on this list!
came here to write that
Exodia Wolfe Judy bag well on a forklift... uncultured swine
Jarrett was leaving for WCW, not TNA
Danny Todd
You could say Jeff Jarrett had no mercy towards Vince McMahon's check book moving towards dropping the Intercontinental Title to a female.
but in the end it doesn't hurt Vince 😂 it hurt Jarret investing his money in TNA
dayday 0000000
In retrospect, it was Vince McMahon's money which Jarrett extorted that launched TNA 😂
😂 he failed again and again
if vince russo joins wwe i guarantee there will be a pole on a pole match
Jiggle Maballs if that happens I want Calgary Kid aka the Miz to face Vince Russo
Bro on a pole match.
You are just so funny...
Let's take Dr. Pol, put him on a poll with them dogs around him, and call it "The Incredible Pol on a Pole from Hell Match"
Bobby Lashley VS. Sami Zayn in a sister on a pole match please
AussieMenace
A sister on a Pole strap match.
The OSW Review of Lockdown 2007 is worth watch for this match alone, it was such a clusterfuck the needle span all the way round to amazing
i bet you tna is going to make a reversal pinfall match where in order to win your opponent must pin you
Vince Mcmahon
Which is a 3 second last Man Standing whilst laying on your opponent match
Should have had a heel lose to Auska in a match like this. Then they could go and say that they pinned her!
Vince Mcmahon lol
Ben Kravitz
Or push Baron Corbin by having his speciality gimmick match the
"To win you must give yourself a Rock Bottom" Match.
TNA hasn't been in "Let's make dumb gimmicks constantly" mode for about 5 years now. So I doubt that.
Figured the Good Housekeeping Match was made to embarrass Jeff Jarrett and The House Of Horrors Match kinda reminded me of the Boiler Room Brawl.
By not being a wrestling fan don't know too much about that Bray Wyatt match, but I do know that I absolutely loved the Firefly Funhouse match against John Cena. Best horror movie I've seen this year.
Ah yes Jeff Jarrett leaving the WWE to start TNA in 1999. We all remember that don’t we? Those epic wars between WWF, WCW, ECW, and... TNA in the 90s.
Jeff jarrett leaving WWE to form tna... Are you for real???
Lethal Lock Down and the Asylum match are very similar to the Lions Den Weapons match in that weapons were hung on the cage and could be used against your opponent . The Lions Den Weapons match happened at SummerSlam 1999 between Ken Shamrock and Steve Blackman this match only happened once as well iirc .
Russo!!! (Shakes fist)
ROBOT HOOOOUUUUUSSEEE!!!!!!!
But what did the 49ers have to do with that match?
As I remember the rules of the match was just essentially you play lucky dip with the boxes, one has the title, the others random items. Now I believe that edition of Nitro took place in San Fran, so I think the naming 49ers match was just a bizarre idea to pop the crowd some how, and justified it by one of the random objects being a baseball glove.
shepja87 but the 49ers is a football team.
Jordy Lont nitro was in san fran, it was a cheap pop move to get people interested in a match that would be shit
The match and the team both suck, that's the connection
Jordy Lont im British, i dont follow american sports, so forgive the theory on the glove, but the name for a pop sounds feasible in 2000 WCW eyes
You completely got Jeff's reason for leaving wrong.
Completely,.
I realize that this is a 2 year old video but I think that the eye for an eye match with Seth and Rey. I also think that the Swamp match between The Fiend and Braun qualifies too.
Reverse Battle Royal?
Kevin Anderson I believe you’re referring to the Fight for the Right Tournament in TNA?
If so, it happened twice. The first was in 2006, and the second was in 2007.
Yes.
*cosplaying as a very happy M. Bison* YES! Yes!
2:45 this guy clearly knows Dean Ambrose...but knows nothing about Jon Moxley...
The fish market street fight was funny! I really enjoyed it. Great comedy match!
That queensburys rules match can deffo bre brought back
Summer Games Relay Match, I think this match only happened once as well.
Good House Keeping Match was epic! I remember marking out as a kid. It was such good story telling.
The House of Horrors match was so bad I forgot about, that is til you mentioned now I’m going to have forget again; thanks man.
good video. most of these matches I either forgot about, or never heard of.
jake the snake n rick martel...thats where the blindfold matches should have ended lol
"Jarrett was leaving to start TNA" instantly loses all credibility.
Yeah majorly
Jake Roberts and Rick Martel had a blindfold match at Wrestlemania 7. Pretty good match as well, Jake using crowd response to pointing around the ring to find Martel, luring him into moves by making noise etc.
No comment on the video's content but respect to Jules for wearing a Cancer Bats shirt
I would talk about the vid, but youre a Cancer Bats fan. All i have to say is, cheers mate!
For those of you who don't know since apparently What Culture doesn't, Jeff Jarrett didn't leave WWE to go start TNA, he left to go back to WCW, the idea for TNA wouldn't happen until after WCW went under. If you ever do a "Celebrities who almost be came/who almost became prowrestlers" please include RiFF RAFF who had Hulkster train him
And regarding the Kennel From Hell match..........I highly recommend watching the version of the match that featured Mick Foley and Kevin Kelly doing alternate commentary for it because it is absolute gold.
My favourite match type that has only been tried once is the 5 star Roman Reigns match
Is there a genuine reason these guys never include Lucha Underground on these lists? They make fun of TNA normally and still talk about it, while they've acknowledged LU is a good show but never give it a spot on any lists.
KinamOfMyth
How did you wrote that comment yesterday ?
But anyway, I haven't watched a lot of L.U. but so far the only things that I dislike are the backstage segments and the intergender match, besides that it's a very good wrestling show
KinamOfMyth bro you made this comment before the video even came out
SkankHunt 43
YOU'RE DEAD ?
What have I done...
I swear this video was here before XD I must've gotten it the second it was uploaded or something^^' Or maybe it was re-uploaded
luke beasley
And he's not even the only one, look at a couple of comments below
Flaming ring match. I forgot who Kane was wrestling against but all 4 sides of the ring were lit with fire.
Simon Miller has head slap thing 😂😂😂
I personally think whatcultere is making a comeback
'Spin the Wheel, make the deal' from Halloween Havoc. i always liked the concept of a 'random match.
Pink slip on a pole match.
JUDITH BAGWELL ON A FORKLIFT MATCH
wstine79 pole on a pole
The haybale truck match from WCW.
That happened more then once.
wstine79 soap on a rope match.
Miners glove. Not Baseball Glove. It was a reference to an earlier WCW storyline.
Umm, Jeff Jerret didn't leave WWE in 1999 to make TNA.. he went to WCW... This guy's an "expert"?..
Rawkstar umm, let me spell that right for you its J E Double F J A Double R E haha Double T! That’s Double J Jeff Jarrett
The reverse batter Royal? Was there more then 1?
What about that match with Dusty Rhodes fighting that guy on a truck as well as that monster Truck match between Big Show and Hulk Hogan?
5:14 He's glad it was here.. HAHA, that's so funny dude THAT IS HILARIOUS.
Thong Stinkface match was tight between Terri & The Kat lol
3:50 I LOVED the Duchess of Queensbury Rules match!
Jules, Jeff Jarrett didn't leave in 1999 to start TNA, he didn't start TNA until 2002, he left for another stint in WCW, where because he was Vince Russo's Golden Boy, he would headline.
What happened to the #SouthWestSavage gimmick?
😂😂 Punjabi Prison should’ve only happened once.
no. It should have happened zero times. Then again that can be said about all the matches on the list
No "Judy Bagwell On A Pole" Match? I has a sad :(
I may be the only one but...I need more than one per list. They are TOO funny. I might just be messed up though lol.

I wonder how many of these ideas came from Vince Russo bro
Dutchess of Queenberry Rule match was awesome! But Lance Storm did something similar, in WCW first. It was a Canadian Rules Book match.
Also all the wrestlers over acted and made it just so cringy. I remember the fans in the arena were booing the match too.
You're having a giraffe mate. Nice pun.
The quick having a giraffe me Lolz harder than the regular ones. I need to get the T-shirt

I can't be the only one that kinda liked the San Francisco 49ers match stipulation.
Good Housekeeping Match in ICW was excellent, and TNA made up for the blindfold cage the following month with Harris vs Storm in a Texas Deathmatch
The fact that the Punjabi Prison match has happened 3 times still baffles my mind lmao
Suprised vinny mac didnt do a "divas on a pole" match
Quit giving Vince ideas.
Judy bagwell on a forklift match. Pinata on a pole 🤣🤣 damn Russo
The most important thing I got from this video was that Cancer Bats is a pretty good band.
It was called "The Prince of Darkness Death Match"
Two out of three falls, third fall is a blindfold match, and all in a steel cage.
Good grief.
Jarrett wasn’t leaving the WWF in 1999 to start TNA, he was leaving to go to WCW.
Damn it! Kennel From Hell Match: "Big Dog" Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar at the Greatest WrestleMania. Swerved us again, Vince.
As you were talking about Dean all I could think was "Have you seen Jon Moxley?"
Jarrett didn't leave WWF to start TNA. He left to jump ship to WCW. TNA didn't get founded until 2002.
I LOVE THE CANCER BATS SHIRT!!!
Holy. This channel now.
That House of Horrors match was pure gold if you like live tweeting sarcastic bullshit.
"Taking on Y2J, the pair were locked in a cage that had a roof..." While showing photos of them on top of the cage with CLEARLY NO ROOF!
THE CANCER BATS! AHHHHHHHHHH. Fantastic music taste 👍
I remember when in 2000, Kurt Angle bought up HHH's 1995 hog pen match with Henry Godwinn, to embarrass him :)
Jeff Jarrett left WWE to WCW where he got a huge push. After WCW went out of business and Vince McMahon bought it Jeff Jarrett started TNA. Big facts!
Jarrett wasn’t leaving to start TNA, he left for WCW.
Jarret left to go to WCW, where he became a nWo member, he did not begin working on making TNA/Impact/GFW until the year after WCW was bought out by WWE.
What about that wcw match in a truck on the road?
2:55 says they fought in a cage with a roof.... then shows a picture of the cage WITH NO ROOF. Brilliant.
Yes to your cancer bats shirt,
Theyre dope!!
Wheres judy bagwell on a forklift match 😂😂😂
Lumberjack Strap match at WCW Uncensored. Curt Hennig and Barry Windham vs Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, with a load of other guys on the outside. The main difference between this and a normal Lumberjack Match is the guys on the outside got to whip anyone who left the ring with their belts instead of just throwing them back in
Queensbury Rules Match was done in 1995 Regal v Flair in WCW in a best of 7 series
Oooof, that super nervous chuckle @ 5:15 after he says "I'm glad it was here" - that made me so uncomfortable :(
