My favorite book! Thank you! I'm trying to get sober from drinking too much, and honestly, this series is saving my life right now. I don't have the concentration to read, which is something I've done since I was a child.... I always loved to read. I have had a couple of very bad relationships, being taken advantage of, abused, etc... I started to drink too much, but I want to read again! It's the one thing that always gave me peace during my childhood/teens/young adult years. I'm now 47, and I'm just grateful for you right now to read this book to me, as it was always one of my favorite books I've ever read. Thank you again. Peace and love to everyone!
Excellent reading. Thank you. I found another nice book writer by Hong Ying Gu: A Shining Star at Night. Publisher: American Academic Press. Hope you can read it for listeners. Thank y very much.
+Chris Holden Thank you, Chris. I know that I have put off adding more videos to this audiobook series but its mostly because I just don't have the inspiration anymore (that, and I've been employed recently). I've going to try to get my act together tomorrow, Thursday, December 11, 2015, and make more audiobooks. Thanks for all your support, everyone!
Thank you for this. I’m doing a read-a-long with you via a digital copy of _The Good Earth_ I usually prefer physical books, but wanted to read this a.s.a.p. after enjoying Peal S. Buck’s _The Mother_ I have absolutely fallin’ in love of her writing and style. Your voice is wonderful. I also appreciate your pace. Also, the touch of hearing you flip the book pages as you read is lovely ASMR :) Thanks, again!
Thank you, Darien! I appreciate your reading this great story! Your voice is perfect for the story of the earth and human being. I hope you are interested in reading James Joyce's Ulysses.
I love this book. I read it as often as I find time, few can truly appreciate the book because they see the chapters and size of the book and Cringe! The greater the size of a book the greater knowledge we can attain and learn to use the knowledge to gain wisdom that can better life as we know it today or in our entire life. This is truly a work of a master mind with great ability to keep us enlightened daily⌛️📓
Hello Darien! I'm currently a literature student and reading the book with your audio was very helpful! I like your dramatized dialogues in some parts. Keep it up!
I thought your reading was excellent. Never considered public reading for amusement before. You tube is a wonderful resource. This was a favorite movie I was looking for it and found your work. Please be encouraged.
The 1937 movie is a beautiful classic! I viewed it first memory very young in the theater called "The Malco". Later in 2010. The greatest events are left out of this movie. It ends with the last chapters missing. Very incomplete! All are left hanging, if the book has not been read? The latter chapters! Wow! Read the last 8 chapters before you decide on putting it back on the shelf! Both are great and very appreciated. Wish we could see the original footage of the filming for 1937 released "THE GOOD EARTH"..🔥😊
usually I listen to thunderstorms and lay there for hours trying to force myself to sleep, see I’m a helpless insomniac then realized I just needed something to stimulate my mind. In all honesty I wasn’t going to listen to you because I prefer female readers but this is my moms favorite book and my dad actually told me it’s one I should memorize lbvs. I own it, but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet and I’m so glad my prejudice didn’t sway my decision on giving you a chance. 15 minutes in and I took note on how your voice is very soothing, if I do fall asleep job well done but I’ll definitely come back to finish. You’ve definitely gained a new subscriber✌🏽&❤️
Have you considered doing the 2nd of the trilogy, “Sons” and “A House Divided”. Pearl Buck lived in China and got the Nobel Prize in literature. Too much is being FORGOTTEN about great literature!!!
Hello! I'm a student in public speaking, so I thought I'd offer a bit of feedback on your video: 1. Maybe you could sharpen your diction a little bit? As I listen to your video I also am reading along in the book, and at some points I wouldn't be able to understand what word you said without having the book in front of me. For my speech class, I've had to practice tongue twisters, and although it sounds really ridiculous, it does help with your diction a lot. 2. I like how you characterize the dialogue from the characters. I've listened to so many audiobooks where it's so hard to listen to the narrator read character dialogue because it crushes your imagination of how the characters are saying their lines (if you know what I mean). Overall, great job with the video! Hope my feedback is helpful and not insulting (that was by no means my purpose).
SunnySprite Thank you for the advice. I've struggled with diction for most of my life. Whether written or vocalized I have incredible difficulty give shape and clarity to what I write or say. My handwriting is incredibly sloppy and because I was born with a slightly overlarge tongue I have incredible difficulty pronouncing and sounding out certain words. Tongue twisters might provide a certain degree of practice for me in this area, but I don't know if I would be any good. I'll see what I can do. Thanks again, SunnySprite. :)
DNA Part three was uploaded yesterday. I've been pretty busy with various school assignments since I am attending university while completing my side projects. Also, each part I do is, basically, one chapter from the book. I will attend to parts 4, 5, and 6, hopefully, over the next week. Wish me luck! :)
DNA Its one of the very first novels I was introduced to during my college career! It may not seem like much, but it is, to me, a work of art that details the struggle of Chinese farmers living in the 1800s. Thank you for your input.
Sorry you feel that way. I read it about 60 years ago and grew to love China. Later I took Chinese in college, went to Taiwan as a missionary, got undergraduate and graduate degrees in China related subjects, did dissertation research in China, and directed libraries in China and Hong Kong. All of this after reading The Good Earth and other Buck books. Her biographies of her mother and father are especially good. Her first husband was a famous China geography professor who taught at Berkeley.
To be honest, i was falling asleep to this. The way you were reading it is so boring. Need to speed up or make your videos fun to listen to. Thumbs down for me... sorry!
Your voice is very pleasing. You are an excellent reader. Thank you for doing this.

Your naration is incredible. In oved the change of voices, I could feel the characters. Thank you!
Thanks for recording this! It's very helpful and useful to me to get reacquainted with the book before I teach it.
One of the first books that I read on my own. Not a school assignment. Loved it and still love it
Hey bro. I love this book also and you did a great job on this. I can’t wait to listen to the next chapter. Thank you. Keep going
It's hilarious that Amazon controlled Audible makes you pay 14 or 30 dollars for what Darien Munden offers for free!

This book sucks. It’s so boring
