Wow, thanks for your you compliment. Makes me happy. Unfortunately, I don't offer song tutorials, although there is a lot of interesting information to be said about the way MJ songs are made, as they have their own scheme etc. It also took me years to get to the level I am at today and my way of learning these things was just imitating them musically and hearing which instruments played which melodies and lines. I can`t make a specific statement `bout hard/software which leads you to a goal, because- as they say "many roads lead to Rome". The most important hardware instruments for me was on the one hand a fine keyboard workstation with natural and synthesizer sounds and on the other hand a sampler in order to be able to use (sample) original parts like drums etc. Today I mostly use software 90% of the time. Here you`ll find a list of my equip I used and use (hard&Software): michaelvancosso.wixsite.com/forcestudios/about In terms of sound (hardware), I have had very good experiences with the Yamaha Motif, which was also one of the keyboards that MJ was often used in his productions and live concerts in his last years. The Motif basically gave you all the important sounds to be able to reconstruct the range of MJ songs. A lot of the things that I used for my remakes at that time also came from the sampler with my own sample library, which makes it a little bit hard to do something comparable with other specific keyboard. Software technical, in order to cover a large sound fund (and it should not be too expensive) I can recommend the following plug-ins: - "KORG M1" from Korg Collection 2 or "XPAND!2" from AIR Music Technology. Both cover a wide range of typical 90's workstation sounds. The M1 has more FM and exotic specialties on board, the XPAND is quite similar to the Motif and has the better natural sounds. - "SYNCLAVIER V" or "DX7 V". Both from Arturia. Both gave you the typical sounds espeically from the BAD era. The Synclavier is much more complex but there`s nothing you can`t do with the Synclavier...doesn`t matter if you want a Moog or the Beat It "Gong" sound (on board preset on Synclavier). The Arturia Synclavier is just a synthesizer and unfortunately it does not have the large sample library of natural sounds that Arturia once announced. - "Complete Orchestral Collection (COC) by Peter Siedlaczek" from Best Service or "Symphonic Orchestra" from EastWest. MJ used a lot of symphonic sounds, especially in his ballads, like huge string arrangements etc. The already mentioned XPAND!2 has very good orchestral sounds on board and they are usually enough, but if you want an even more authentic symphonic sound, then a symphony orchestra is recommended. In addition, there are good pianos that the other mentioned plug-ins so far do not have on board. - "Velvet2" from AIR Music Technology. Tons of legendary electric piano sounds (the largest library I've heard so far) that were also typical of MJ's early stuff. Well, it doesn't really matter which sequencer program (DAW) you want to use, because "many roads lead to Rome". Personally, I prefer Steinberg Cubase because it is quite straightforward and very reliable and most plug-ins use Cubase as a run-time reference. Even the "Elements" version for "beginners" ( but is already professional league) comes with a lot of powerful tools for professional applications including HALion, too. And if at some point it's not enough, you update to Pro. Hope I could help you a little. ...and music in you is an eternal flame ;-) Michael
Hey, Not sure if this helps but in my experience as a sound engineer I’ll try and help. The core of the song at that point carries on from the rest of the song relating to drums which are sampled and structured consistently throughout the rest of the song. The choir sound which you may be talking about is created in one of two ways: The first is to sing the vocal part harmonically with layered harmonies. The second method which I think was used, is to record a harmonic sample and then apply it to a keyboard or synth which then can be played in different pitches and keys to create the desired sound. Hope this helps! :)
The choir in "TDCAU" was a sampled (one shot single-key/multisample) of the real gospel choir from "Will You Be There"... even the TR 808 clap-drums, too (it`s a "LEXICON rich reverb-short gated" sample from the 808`Rim, combined with a decayed 808`Clap). A Lot of MJ`s (btw. T.Riley) "choir sounds" like "aaahs&ohhhs" came from Yamaha (SY-99) and especially from "Ueberschall`s Classic Angelic Choir Sample (Boy/Female)" I think...very famous samples in the 90`s. The strings are sampled "Con Sordino- Orchestral Strings (Ueberschall/Peter Siedlaczek`s "Warm Strings")...which were very unusual at this time in the 90`s (cause totally symphonic)...and you needed a big sampler (RAM) like Synclavier, Fairlight or Akai to have such strings (sample-loops) in that quality. This is no longer a problem today...but back then/in the 90`s, it was the champions league of the champions league ;-)

love u micheal :_(
When this song was first realised I didn't like it. I was about 13 when it was released. I love MJ, always have done. Was my favourite artist before I got into rap music. Then, as a late teen/early adult and in the midst of being a rap music addict, especially 2Pac, i heard this song again and fell in love. I think I understood the lyrics better. Anyway, love the beat, love the song, love MJ
3:08 and why do i always see the number 66 ??
1:22 reminds me of Who Is It
I can write a poem to this beat actually

Compositores: Michael Jackson
Letra de They Don't Care About Us
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, aggravation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Bang bang, shot dead
Everybody's gone mad
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
Beat me, hate me
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Sue me, Sue me
Everybody do me
Kick me, kick me
Don't you black or white me
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
Tell me what has become of my life
I have a wife and two children who love me
I am the victim of police brutality, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate
You're rapin' me of my pride oh, for God's sake
I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy
Set me free
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Trepidation, speculation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Black man, black mail
Throw your brother in jail
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
Tell me what has become of my rights
Am I invisible because you ignore me?
Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of shame
They're throwing me in a class with a bad name
I can't believe this is the land from which I came
You know I do really hate to say it
The government don't want to see
But if Roosevelt was livin'
He wouldn't let this be, no, no
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, speculation
Everybody litigation
Beat me, bash me
You can never trash me
Hit me, kick me
You can never get me
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
Some things in life they just don't want to see
But if Martin Luther was livin'
He wouldn't let this be, no, no
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, segregation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Kick me, kick me
Don't you wrong or right me
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about
All I want to say is that
They don't really care about us
