IM BACK TO RIPPIN! This week take a look at 2023 Chronicles UFC. I’ll talk about what I like and don’t like about this set (including the ultra popular Kaboom cards) Then Ill open a hobby box and see what I can pull. Then I have a bonus rip - two Goble Rookie Mystery Packs!

Din (pronounced Dean) Thomas was an old school fighter. He was in the final 4 in the og lightweight tournament. He's now a commentator/fight analysis for UFC
Fought against b.j. penn, matt serra, caol uno. He was on season 4 of ultimate fighter: the comeback with serra, chris lytle and all those other old school guys

Unsure of the value of the card for obvious reasons, but I did pull a 1/1 National Pride Mateusz Gamrot auto from one of these hobby boxes. Happy about that since he is pretty famous in Poland from his KSW champ days. Not as good as a 1/1 Khamzat pull, but you take what you get.
That’s a great pull!! I like Gamrot a lot. I would love to see him fight Islam.

I like Bo Nickal a lot I think the sky is the limit for him if the UFC takes their time with him, like 1-2 years for him to polish his striking.

I think 2022 Chronicles is the sweet spot with a balanced checklist. 2021 was the same dozen fighters in every set, 2023 is a bunch of fighters that nobody cares about.
Thanks Nate. I did notice the checklist was a little weird this year. And I definitely remember opening 2021 and getting 20 cards of the same fighter.

The Tito comment was hilarious and totally checks out. Congrats on the GSP. Even though Chronicles is hit and miss, with all the card flips it does get you 20% better with rubix cubes 😂
Hahaha. I’ll have to try out a Rubix cube to see if I have improved.

Cool video Joe, Ive enjoyed watching you and others rip some chronicles this year. As you said the origins and also the Obsidian inserts look awesome! might have to find myself one of those! I think the fact you got the Jalin Origins and then the GSP auto made it a worth while rip for sure!

The chronicles cards do look nicer this year but still not tempted to buy any, they just produce far too many designs and variations.
I think Bo Nickal is very talented but he thinks he can beat a Chimpanzee in a fight 😂
That kind of arrogance will be his downfall when he gets top 5 opponents.

I did sell that card before the fight and I would do it again! I can’t stand watching Sean Strickland fight.
Glad you’re back Joe! I really like those luminance, and I’m glad they added the Obsidians in this product. I have an NBA Obsidian card and it’s a beauty in person.

Love your videos brother, but how in the hell do you not know who Din Thomas is?! He's a former fighter but he's better known for his commentary these days. He does a little bit of live commentary during most UFC events & also does a lot of things like post/pre-fight analysis, UFC talk shows, etc. He's also 1 of the top coaches at American Top Team. Also, not to be "that guy" but it's pronounced like "Dean" Thomas
Sometimes it show when someone is a fan of the stars and the celebrities in the UFC, not someone who actually watches the fights or follows the sport itself. I would rather know the fighters personally like Joe, but I will have to settle for knowing things like who Stitch Duran is, and why Dana White got rid of him.

I love this product for all the reasons you don't like it lol. It drives down the price and I love the cruft. I just read a news story about Berlusconi having a warehouse of worthless art his family now has to deal with, and I identify wildly with that dudes issues. I have the same issues. I want it all. I want one of everything. But I won't rip it, when the majority of cards are not worth very much. typical contents of these boxes is worth 20-50 bucks.

I agree with your overall feelings on this product. I think I have pretty similar taste as you in cards. Feels like Pannini is for flippers and topps is for collectors. Good thing is most of the Pannini stuff I actually like is pretty cheap. Ohh and Din Thomas is the guy thats always on the weigh in shows. They pronounce his name Dean. Im sure you know who he is. That card is actually pretty cool. Love his personality.
