She's so great but my favorite thing about this version is that I can actually understand what she's saying. A lot of people who sing this song sacrifice good diction for speed
AND she did the patter part only again in NYC just last week!!! I was there and the audience was blown out of their seats....we were all left speechless..it was impromtu and unrehearsed.
This woman is so freaking talented!!!!!! Her breathing control, her amazing diction, her pristine voice.... A unique wonderful lady! Long Live to the Queen of Musicals!
This QUEEN! Firstly, the glitter people jumpsuit is amazing. Second, she sang all the parts like it wasn't even a big deal. Thirdly, she did Paul's part and the first half of Amys verse without a single breath! And lastly, I heard every word. She is a walking, talking treasure that needs to be held onto. @@johnboys4697 Did you read the comments from 2 years ago? She was singing then. My jaw nearly hit the table when I read that. One of the best version. She makes every word clear and heard while also doing it as fast as it should. Also, while most performances either go too subtle or too over the top but shes just perfect
Thank you for this very rare video! I don't think that song was easy on Dame Andrews' vocal cords, but what a breathtaking (For her too!) rendition! I hope Mr Sondheim was pleased!
yah man, that was some tough growls and screams on her pristine chords. She really put them through a lot night after night with this song and then victor victoria, and before it was My Fair Lady. Camelot was super for her voice.

oh god, she is unbelievable. Every word, every syllable, every note so perfect. how does she do it so seamlessly. Great facility, chest head and blended voice, breath control diction... AND she managed to sing two other o ok arts where she could whilst staying central as the character “not getting married today “. Brilliant .
This was the first version of this song I heard. I had no idea this was not a solo until I stumbled onto another, and read the comments here. She’s amazing
Julie Andrews is really the best singer ever with the most glorious voice! Singing this song the way she does is extraordinary. And she still remembers those extremely difficult lyrics to this day, as she proved in an event for her great book Homework, in 2019. Isn't she a treasure? Bravo, Julie!
