How thrilled that band must have been. They just got to listen. Where does Peggy Lee go when she sings this song? It's such a still, beautiful, sad, and reflective place. Amazing. She's luminous and her voice is ethereal.
Third Rate singers. No Garland or Sinatra here!
The words, the music, the atmosphere, the two artists playing it, the memories, the '80s... just wonderful...
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Wonderful Musical !! The greatest!! John Cullum gave a magnificent Performance ! Love it !!!❤❤❤❤❤
one of the best male performances in the history of modern play and film
i love him remo class act a fan
My absolute favorite thing about this video is the captions are definitely from the original broadcast. Whoever transferred this from the tape it was recorded on cared enough to translate the line 21 closed caption encoding into a modern subtitle file, and then included it on TH-cam.
American women used to be so classy. What happened?
Pure talent.
❤❤❤❤
Beautiful lady....sings likes a angel
O wow. Two Legends: Gene Kelly and Julie Andrews. Magnificent talents and true legends of stage and film history.
Estas canciones deberían ir por el mundo para cambiar a la humanidad y tener Paz y amor
Simplemente memorable
It’s ok, but Alan Cumming set the gold standard. His eyes alone elevated the production.
I LOVE how different every Emcee is, it's so intriquing, there really is no wrong or right way to play him, he's just the Emcee, and he's your host
She always had that phenomenal charisma. What a star.
Amazing- he created the role and thankfully reprised it in the movie. Would have been amazing to see him in the original Broadway production!
Ive watched Eddy and Alan over and over the last few days. And they're effective and creepy. But this....this is the Emcee. Classy and creepy and depraved in equal parts. Masterful.
The best!!
louis at the end was louis
Great to see this again here after several years!
AMAZING !!!! so DIFFERENT FROM MODERN VERSIONS
I think the Emcee is still very dark and creepy in his version. The rest of the production is weirdly silly and misses the point, but he's perfect, just as perfect as Cumming though with his own style.
Did you actually see the original Broadway production, of which this is a fragment re-staged for the Tonys, stripped of its scenery? I did. And that production, with its wonderful designs by Boris Aronson and the presence of the great Lotte Lenya in the cast, had an authenticity that no other stage production has been able to match.
came here joyfully from the third episode of the muppet show
Still the best Emcee, though I'd pick Cumming second.
Ganz wundervoll,danke🌹
❤❤
Amazing that they’d put something like this together for a TV show! Wouldn’t/couldn't happen today. Reminds me what crap we’re willing to watch nowadays.
Can you post the show? We lost Steve March 7, 2024. Would love to see Steve and Eydie!!
Steve Lawrence was always a gentleman getting the microphone stand for Eydie.
I just get lost in the color of her voice. Nothing artificial.
Nell carter was effie.❤
Barbara....Never "walked" through a performance. She always came across as sincere.
She melts my heart
Do you have the whole show?
i love when steve and eydie do the whole "any note you can sing i can sing higher" thing! 9:22
Such a brave act to sing like this…still, grounded, real, relaxed, honest.
Thank you for posting. Great capture!
Que increíble registro, gracias por compartir. Y el resto del concierto?. Anteriormente había escuchado a Luz Eliana cantando "That Old Black Magic" acompañada solo por Alejandro Espinoza.
