Definitely Marss' fault getting ZSS nerfed when he beat Leo at genesis
Yet leo dominating almost every tournament for years couldnt get joker seriously nerfed. Seems legit
3:04 I remember seeing this moment of this set and thinking like…I know Dark Wizzy is a top player and all, but even I know get up attack is the single worst option you could have done in this situation no matter what considerations you make
he probably pressed up b twice and it made a buffered get up attack
And for details like this is that Kurama is the new best Mario player.
@Fernando Vasquez kurama just has a wayyyy better punish, dark wizzy never pushed marios punishgame much he just had good neutral
@@2FadeMusic Kurama has optimized tf out of Mario's punish game. Dude also has crazy survivability.
Think he included Mario in the Hybrid purely due to the Ladder Combos

Why can't I pretend I'm surprised? ZSS used to be top tier, but honestly now it feels like a low high tier to high mid tier like Ness, Sheik or Mii Brawler because she's lacking the consistency she used to have.
It's crazy they didn't at least *fix* her to compensate her nerfs
none of her multi-hits are truly consistent, some can be consistently SDI'd (rip up smash)
True that; some nerfs to top tiers were at least accompanied by some minor buffs such as Palutena or Wario. Or some top tiers still got some multi-hit fixes without much else such as Fox.
@@MerryBlind Yeah im really glad my win condition got gutted in exchange for a frame-perfect jablock setup. ZSS mains cry so much over some extra frames on up b while we got nerfed so hard that out of the ten or so top level Wario mains/secondaries only one still plays the character in any capacity.
@@Parthian6 I never said the minor buffs made up for the major nerfs. I just meant Wario at least got something instead of nothing.
@@MerryBlind My point still stands that ZSS mains complain too much over nerfs that could've been much worse. If Marss didn't stop competing as much to focus on content creation nobody would be saying ZSS fell off.
@@Parthian6 Ah yes I do agree on that. The impact the nerfs had seems overblown to me as well, but I don’t play ZSS at all so I can’t tell for sure.
4:54 I watched that set live because it was epic and the amount of people who said Kola was robbed is baffling. That up smash interaction happened twice the second time being that. Marss running into Kola’s shield and not getting the Up-B. That evens it all out. Marss won that set.
Now it makes sense that pikachu was never nerfed. The Japanese think pika is like mid high tier rather than the top 3 rat he is
Or they’ve just been right all along and Pikachu is just overrated in the West.
@@MerryBlind I mean, Pikachu's performance is more akin to Inkling than a R.O.B, with most top players dropping him due to being way too prediction reliant.
That's the problem with Pikachu, it has overtuned numbers but is unable to cover everything in any situation, like a Cloud's Back air on ledge, a R.O.B's down tilt on close quarters, a Grenade on combos or a Mario Up air in landing. Pikachu just lacks the cheat factor that other high and top tiers have.
The west STILL thinking Pika is top 3 is another reason why Japanese players are just straight up more reasonable. The west is on some weird ESAM propaganda. Pika is literally not that hard to beat, the rat statistically loses to the majority of its tournament matchups than what MU charts and tier lists claim, often very disproportionately in some cases. Ultimate Pika might be the most overated character I have seen in any smash game.

I'm unsure what the dev's goal was to make a mid tier even more of a mid tier. Like not even giving her the d-throw combo throw as a means of compensation? They were SMOKING
Honestly the biggest reason I stopped going to locals was the Zss nerf. For exactly the same reason Vars mentioned and Marss affirmed: her power was not redistributed throughout her kit like other characters, it was just completely taken away. And since I was a solo Zss main, I just lost interest in the game. I still am sad about it. A small part of me hopes that the Steve glitch compels Nintendo to patch the game, and while they’re at it, maybe revert some of her nerfs to return her back top tier viability.
Or you could just…be happy playing a character that isn’t top tier. Unless Leo goes to your local it shouldn’t matter that much.

Joker can combo from throw, Shiek can combo from throw, Mario can combo from throw, Greninja can combo from throw

Had they reduced her standing grab by two frames and having less knockback on down throw i think it would have outweighed the nerfs enough to keep her relevant.
There really was no reason to nerf her nair and up b like they did though. Just gutted her neutral and OOS for no reason
@@zake64 the number of times that people fall out of Up B oos is enough to realize they didn't actually test the nerfs fully. It must be about 40 percent of the time or so realistically

5:00 - Looking at the Tier List is hilarious, I basically only use low tier characters.
S - Roy (My 3rd)
B- - Link (My 2nd)
C+ - Robin (My 5th)
C- - Ike (My Main)
D+ - Zelda (My 4th, and was my main for a while)
D+ - King DeDeDe (my Troll/Spam pick if I want to piss everyone off)
In terms of each game, my mains were as follows;
Smash 64 - Link
Melee - Link (Marth & Roy)
Brawl - Ike (Link & Zelda)
Smash Wii U - Skipped/never had console.
Ultimate - Ike (Link & Zelda)
I would just be happy if they made her moves a little less precise. Sometimes it feels like the hitboxes don't match the attacks.

on the whole why they buff/nerf its the same for splatoon they mainly only listen to the jp crowd and ignore NA/EU like i get its big over there but still frustrating no one else really gets a say on the future of either of these games
it's kinda funny cuz splatoon is the only first party nintendo game that sells more copies in japan than the rest of the world combined (see splatoon 3 in nintendo's recent annual earnings report)
like their scene is just bigger & on average higher level than the west, so there might be an argument to be made in favor of how they balance it
it's less true for smash - although the scene might be more concentrated in jp, there's greater parity
but the similarities between smash and splatoon, with the west having a more aggressive style & less successful off the wall picks compared to japan, and then nintendo at least appearing to lean heavily on jp for balance changes, is pretty striking

She already has nair simulator, people were fed up with always losing to her. I think the nerfs were justified, it kinda helped provide an overall better player experience for those who faced palu.

Japan always getting the blame for nerfing characters. Maybe the only one for west was Mkleo Joker.
Honestly, I think MKleo, Cosmos, and Sparg0 were the guys that got Nintendo to buff Byleth, Corrin, and Cloud simply because of the janky performances of their initial states.
ZSS is probably the hardest nerfed character in ult besides Pichu
Why’d they nerf zss so hard
Because she’s basically sonic, with more range to make up for being slightly slower. She is very similar to sonic that she can easily run away from the opponent. She may not be as campy as sonic but she’s still pretty annoying.

Another reason is that now that we have Ridley, ZSS needs to be less powerful to make room for him.
Kinda like how Diddy Kong was slightly nerfed Ultimate, which makes since we have K Rool.

Yeah Vars is pretty off the mark more often than not. His calm soothing voice just gets ppl to listen and not disagree harshly.
