    Did or would you buy the Scrambler edition because of its looks OR because you'll actually do some scrambling with it? Leave a comment below

      I wouldn’t necessarily buy this bike. I think it looks cool but not my style of riding.

      I may buy this bike as a daily commuter as well as joy rider with occasional dirt road riding. You can take this off road but you have to keep your speed down because of the lack of suspension travel. I have other bikes that will handle high speed off roading. A big selling point for me is 110 hp and it has no speed limiter like the triumph bikes. I don’t speed often but, Speed limiters are unethical on a motorcycle.

      I did buy this bike and have had it for just on a month now. Exactly same colour as in this video but with Gold Rims. Let me tell you - I just love this bike. It is so amazing to ride. And I can live with the fact there is no gear indicator. Greetings from Cologne, Germany.

    I own the 21 Scrambler in Kalamata Green as well. I added the tachometer that also gives you a gear indicator and a few other bits of info. I was attracted to the bike for its looks, but bought it for its power and raw feel/unique boxer engine rumble. I don't plan on going off road, but am not afraid to go down a gravel road or two. I probably will never sell it. #addicted

    I was hoping you would do a review on this 22' scrambler, I've been on the fence about it, every time I see it in person I lust for it! haha but man there's some things I wish would be standard, I know a lot of people don't agree with the following but BMW needs to slap a digital TFT round gauge like Triumph Trident, everyone is doing it, even HD has it on their new 1200 Sportster S like what?? Get the Program BMW secondly not to offend anyone reading this, but this Bike is bought my mostly younger folks, Millennials and younger because we like the Heritage style with all the new Technology! I agree with you I also dislike that there's no gear indicator that's just annoying AF no fuel gauge another fail! I think someone mentioned this already too, but once BMW decides to use their new 1250 engine on this model and not be air cooled anymore, I mean with traffic like we have in Sol Cal this thing will overheat, there's actually evidence of this too, from other youtube videos! To conclude my rant The motorcycle in my humble opinion is a master piece in its styling, its neither a Naked nor a Cruiser, but somewhere perfect in between. And I may even decide to get one after all.

    • @PetroHead
      @PetroHead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the dial is meant to go with the whole retro theme.. that’s why it’s not full digital. As for the engine, it’s air / oil cooled so not 100% sure about overheating.

      A bunch of bull, you people don't understand what this bike is about so just go and buy something you understand like a HD tractor. Don't try and buy something German just because people are talking about it. Stick to what you know, this bike is meant for perfectionist who knows it's sole man. Therefore people who can become one with this machine. Just buy your HD.

      @@roverroko306 Bro chill everyone of us is allowed to have our own opinion, No manufacturer these days is going to be putting out a bike for the "perfectionist" straight out the assembly lines that's what Custom Bike shops are for I mean it's very clear man that BMW is trying to sell as many r9ts as possible look at how many models there is Pure, Scrambler, Original and GS and that's okay I as much as any Heritage Lover want one too, your obviously judging me the wrong way, I don't even like Harleys haha, I will agree with you on 1 thing they are Tractors! haha As to explain further I didn't start looking at buying the r9t because it was talked about, I knew about this bike when BMW first gave clues about in 2012, and as for my complaining goes for the digital gauge it's all good, I respect your point of view and my complaining stopped the minute I learned about KOSO DL04 multi function gauge for the r9t, clearly this company capitalized on a complaint that has been heard all around the world, some of us simply want more Tech on our Dash, to each is own my guy.

    • @GoodBread
      @GoodBread 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vicorrosiv well, you can do what you want with your bike and the R9T is super open for "making it truly yours". Still it kinda hurts to think about putting a digital instrument on specially this bike. It is meant to be simple and pure without all the fancy stuff you have on modern bikes.

    You know I have seen BMW dry clutches in the late 1990s have that burnt smell. Now I have taken my R9T/5 down the drag strip 15 times and one time 7 times in one hot day and July and didn't experience the burnt clutch smell.
    Honestly I expected to smell it but either mine is more robust, my nose doesn't work or maybe a careful break in helped.

    I would buy the scrambler because of its looks and because it's a scrambler. I'd definitely use it as a scrambler. Because no matter where I ride I always find dirt or gravel roads and even ride off road no matter what I ride. I've even gone off-road with a Harley Fat Boy. Needed a little more ground clearance though. I've never owned a bike with a gear indicator. Don't need one. I turned this review on to see what kid of accessories there are for the scrambler.

  • @sjaisie
    @sjaisie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Not having a gear indicator really isn’t a problem. My Triumph speed triple never had one, and I rarely look at the one on my street triple RS.
    However, not having a fuel gauge would really annoy me and trigger my anxiety! 😂

    Just had a test ride this weekend, I had so much hope for this bike but got really disappointed. I tried Triumph street twin and the handling of that bike was much nicer and the sound was waaaaay better. However the r nine t turned more heads while driving in the city. Personally I felt more in control driving Triumph.

  • @exothermal.sprocket
    @exothermal.sprocket 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Took one for a ride a couple weeks ago. Enjoyed the experience.
    The motorcycle that wanted to be an aircraft. hahaha
    I think it's a matter of time before BMW retires that 1170cc older lump and brings the 1250 down to that model range. Cruise control: throttle-by-wire required, extra cost, lots of development needed to get it functioning properly, extra SKU's in the system for wiring and switchgear, concerns of up-costing with other models in the manufacturer's lineup. That's pretty much why. But I agree, it's an awesome feature. I consider all the uses for cruise, such like evading police radar with unintentional speeding, fuel range and economy, one less mental fatigue issue rolling on a trip over hills and in the wind and around police radar, and finally the whole right arm from the shoulder to the finger tips can rest. I use cruise on my car a LOT. Heated grips however, they don't need all the special equipment, they should be on every single motorcycle (but function properly as well, from warm to scorching and equal heat on both bars).

    • @PetroHead
      @PetroHead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      CC and HG should be on all bikes as standard.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PetroHead Agreed. In spite the additional equipment and cost. If they put the tech on every FI bike, the economy of scale would bring the overall price down.

    Completely wrong man dry clutches don't burn out they are great and very precise as well as durable. Also R9T scrambler is about the worst mode in the range one can buy. The original roadster is the top model and it's the perfect bike. I am the proud owner of the original roadster and would never sell. It's all the bike I need even without the riding mods. This bike doesn't need that it's perfect as is. But the components make the bike man, and scrambler as well as the pure don't get the best, but the top model does. So you chose to test ride the wrong models man.

      @@PetroHead well of course it seams to you a person is not relaxed when one is facing you with the obvious truth, and it’s obvious man you’re just an amateur when it comes to bikes. Plus I didn’t state this bike is bad or crap in anyway. Only pointing out you test rode both worst bikes in the range and obviously highlighted the bad points, things which don’t even matter to people who love these bikes for the real reason. Pure riding experience with an almost perfect machine. Believe me I am the most relaxed person on earth and yoga is a waist of time. Riding is my therapy and pleasure.
