On deciphering the Continental sidewalls: The down arrows designate the Gravity range of tires, the next designation is the circle with 4 dots this is the tire compound, so Super Soft in your case. The last designation is the tire casing, 3 dots in your case designates downhill casing. Still learning it myself as I'm in the process of making the switch. Currently running a Xynotal, DH cssing, in soft compound on the rear, with an Assegai out front.
assegai and kryptotal fr are pretty much the same to be honest, so if you don't care about fashion, then no reason to switch them while the assegai is still good.
@DerDanachDenkende the Assegai is starting to dry rot crack on the sidewall, and beginning to lose a little grip as the rubber gets harder with age. Plus I like the less 'busy' look of the Continental sidewalls. So far I'm super impressed with the grip level of the Xynotal DH casing soft compound on the rear. Literally insane how much grip it has on loose over hard pack, which is pretty much all we have in central Texas.

Ripping as always Jack! I'm a big fan of the Kryptotal's in the DH casing and super soft. Been a long time Maxxis rider and still run them (DHR2 and Assegai) on my other bike, but the Kryptotals on my Enduro have been fantastic here on the slick roots/rocks in the PNW and I think will mostly be my go to going forward. I tried the Schwalbe's a bit ago and found them to be good, just did not love them (did not try the new Tacky Chan though). Granted I cannot push tires anything like the YT mob pro's can so my opinion does not mean much.
In 30 years Thredo has never disappointed. Love your work.
I'd love to see you try Micheling Wild enduro setup Jack, I'd love to hear your opinion on them. For me DH22 and DH34 were amazing combo, very tacky but slower rolling. Wild enduro imho is better than Assegai DHRII combo, so Im contemplating going back to them or maybe trying contis... :D

Loved that... is Mush always a bit of a slow puzzler? Will he ever get the riddle of the down arrows on the downhill tyres?
That said, no idea why Conti has two Downhill designations on the same tyre. If you like the tread worth experimenting with the different casings / compounds - they do a Soft for the rear. Looking forward to the three of you out tomorrow.
That Schwalbe tires are you gonna try out? I'm a Schwalbe guy. I was also considering the Continentals.

Loved the grip on the continental tires but the side wall on the enduro casing failed me twice. Can't justify the DH casing when i've never had a Maxxis DD casing slash on me.
I am surprised. Maybe you were unlucky? I can rip up an exo+ tire in one day. But have ridden kryptotal enduro with impact pro for 1.5 years without any issue. Including big enduro competitons like trans Madeira.
What size are you running for front and rear? Was looking to run these on my Capra for race season this year!
Conti Kryptotals are great, but I had to order 2-3 of each just to get a set that wasn't all wobbly. Maybe that was only an issue with the hard compound I tried, but soft wasn't available last year at least on Amazon in the US. But the grip and rolling speed are really good. I'll try them again we I can get the soft compounds.
if you tried trail casing - it's very thin. I've warped all tires with thin casings. Maxis EXO, Schwalbys
once you get to business and G-out in corners, all thin casings just warp
You need to run like 40+ Psi for it hold decently
@@ostankovalex1176 These were clearly manufacturing defects, replacements fixed the issue, rear took 3 tries and the front took 2. It's not a Conti thing, any brand can have QC problems. Once I got a good set they were perfect and never had any issues. I only switched to DHR IIs because the hard compound was too slippery in wet as fall/winter came around. Once I see the soft compounds in stock again I'll be snapping up a couple sets since I miss the faster feeling roll of the Conti's a lot.
