Would you be interested in covering the most efficient combos in the meta, maybe on a yearly basis? I see plenty on trends and sometimes I can be 6 months off MTG and then comeback to find out my 3-piece animate/cat combo is now too slow. Now there's chain of smog+golgaro guy and probably more. Other options are very lean like Finale with the less dead cards possible. My go to is still Nestcraft, not the best but incredibly easy since EC is also ramp.
That is an excellent idea, I'm def use it. I'm planning on expanding it to cover the meta as a whole- archetypes and notable cards in addition to combos.
As an avid Yidris player, not really. I’m just glad I can finally pick up some fetchlands for cheap. The only suspend card (or any card, for that matter) from this set that will make my personal Yidris list is profane tutor (but dauthi voidwalker should be considered). Gaea’s will is garbage if you cascade into it too early. The blue one is not impactful. The red one is actively bad. Sol talisman is not worth the time. The free-to-cast spells are not great because they all cost 4+ mana which is really bad for the ad naus.
EDH has been on a new ''rotation'' for a while. I expect to see another piece of asymmetrical hate like Voidwalker in the next sets too. Not sure I really care as long as they don't ban them, like what we've been hearing about Hullbreacher. The Hierarch is sweet and that's the kind of staples I like to see.
Dress down could be helpful if you want to play turbonaus and there are more then one creatures that stop you. And you have only 1 bounce spell on hand. Or with viodwalker on the field you could play this and not worry about a counter given someone a free naus idk seems a cool card to play in turbonaus list at his worst it gives you a card at best it stops 2,3,4 creatures and you can still bounce the rol
That's a good point, it can clear the way for Ad Naus or to storm off. My thought process was that Ad Naus decks running blue and black are probably on Thassa's Oracle but not Lab Jace, so most Ad Naus decks running it can't win with it out on the field. However, you can always bounce it before going for the win.
If any deck would run it, it'd be Yidris. I'm not sure if it would be worth a slot, but it is an extremely powerful effect that synergizes with its gameplan, so maybe.
I don’t think it’s worth it. It’s a dead draw, cascading into it early is painful because you either send it to the bottom or you have to deal with a self-imposed Rest In Peace for the rest of the turn. It’s free on the naus and it’s a good cascade hit sometimes, but it’s dead 3/4 of the time, so I won’t be including it in my personal Yidris list.
I think it can do work especially considering it cantrips, but since most combos that see play require a creature, so it isn't as effective at dealing with hatebears. If a deck relies heavily on a creatureless combo, then I think it would be worth considering.
I'm really curious as to which suspend cards, if any, will end up making it into Rashmi or Yidris, as they can be bombs with the commander but duds without it.
@@RecurringInsight Yidris just wants the tutor. The other ones are too slow. I already play wheel of fate and that’s a rarity. Suspend cards are considered bad because they’re dead if you draw them. It is feasible, but not fun to wait for suspend 2. Suspend 4, you will never see that spell resolve in a meaningful way (looking at you, gaea’s will)
I went back and forth on those two for a while. My thought process behind Rift was that the targeted and overloaded versions could be compared, while comparing it to Toxic Deluge would miss out on that axis. That being said, you're definitely right, it's going to function most similarly to Toxic Deluge.

The real winners of this set are Yidris players

I feel like Codie is the winner from the suspend spells
Some potential for Rashmi decks
@@SenorCoupon that’s probably the most accurate. But then again, most of that is because of profane tutor. I’m starting to think it’s just the tutor
@@harrisonheppelmann7938 100% agree. Other than that... Rashmi? We'll see if anything happens down the road to make them more accessible
I think that Unmarked Grave will be played. It acts as a second copy of Entomb in non Razaketh reanimators _(although most definitely worse)_
That's fair. I agree that it could see play in that specific niche.
A little tardy to the party, but Urza's saga isn't useless on 2, it still has it's first ability. It just gains the second one on top of it

@@RecurringInsight Most Ad naus are on breach so I think dress down will be a must on those decks.
Gaea's will in yidris?

Dress down is solid, can stop someone winning or play on your turn and turn off all the hatebears

Inevitable betrayal off a Rashmi though! It's niche, but who knows!
