I was turning the radio dial and heard Renato Carosone performing Tu Voi Fare L' Americano, so I naturally stopped to enjoy. At the break, the DJ stated he was featuring famous Italian pianists. He described the next artist, Michel Petrucciani as French born but of Italian parents. He played Looking Up and I immediately fell in love with it. I used to be a big jazz fan, especially of upbeat and Brazilian jazz. This song immediately reminded me of Spyro Gyra. Now that I am exploring Michel Petrucciani, I am in awe. What a talent and a gift to all of us. So sad that he had such a difficult life, but so happy for him that he was able to live out his passion throughout his brief life of 36 years.

Just reading through all the comments shows how many different emotions he was capable of conveying from a dimension of its own. This melody is eternal and I just play it and play it and…. When I first saw Petrucciani before hearing him play, I thought he is just another one of those guys that get extra credit from people just because he's disabled. Boy was I wrong. Petrucciani was a man of profound musical genius.
