1990. Was sent to interview her when i was 17. Prepared 25 questions. Arrived and she was having a nap. She woke up and we sat down. I asked her one question and within 3 minutes she'd covered everything i had thought of. What a brain! And she was so charming and encouraging!
I wish I had followed Journalism as a subject, and been asked to do the same thing. However, I would have been very tongue-tied, as I was shy in my youth around ladies like her 😍😎
Started watching Newsnight during the invasion of Iraq. Kirsty Wark and Gavin Estler were my most memorable presenters. Anyone else drop into TH-cam clips from back in the day to remember their early adulthood?
My biggest crush. I have always held her in massive regard for her journalism, and find her incredibly quick witted. I realise this is mainly her Newsnight contributions, but (for me) she is one of the most attractive women in the media. I hope she's still doing selective pieces of work after her "retirement" from this brilliant programme.
A national treasure, Kirsty has done an excellent job over the years and exudes a warmth allied with a sharp questioning mind, not an easy combination to pull off. Hopefully not the last we see of her, happy retirement Kirsty, you shall be missed.
I love Kirsty. Always have. A complete and utter national treasure who has enlivened our political and social understanding for decades. Thanks for everything.
6:55 WTF?! "Cooking with Newsnight"!! It's hard to believe this was the same programme Paxman asked Michael Howard 11/12 times, "Did you threaten to overrule him?" 😤
Now the Tories are gone Kirsty has no purpose. She will have a purpose in the future, however, as we share clips of her, and say this is how our media, ran cover for an apartheid state, while it's war criminals leaders committed a genocide. This is how never again, happens.

Superb, sharp, witty and obviously an adored Mum and colleague. You will be missed Kirsty ❤🎉x

Kirsty was an excellent presenter. Shame to see Newsnight reduced to a 30 minute talking shop now.
Total legend

Intelligent and very, very sharp…..love her!
Happy Retirement Kirsty.

She's brilliant. Well done Kirsty, please do more HIGNFY
I must admit…Kirsty Walk is a fantastic journalist and broadcaster…
Kirsty, like Paxman, evoke memories of an age when Britain, and the BBC, were better - much better.
Always liked Kirsty.

Lovely person
I don't understand why Newsnight would let Kirsty Wark go. Victoria Derbyshire is excellent too. Both brilliant.
She decided to quit when it was announced Newsnight was going to lose much of its budget
@@dlamiss really? I love Newsnight, I wish the BBC would look after it and show it way more love.
the French Dispatch theme goes so hard for every reason
I can't believe they did not include the time she played Sex Pistols God Save the Queen after Newsnight, such an iconic moment
yep. as someone _not_ from the uk, that's how i met her.
Newsnight needs to bring in a fresh round of interviewers - felt stuck on the 90s

I liked Olivia O'Learey but no-one better than John Tusa
apparently there’s no new work… however
i thought she died you bastard. i miss the segue into newsnight review.
Journalist who Holidays with Politicians
