I don't even know if I am Haitian (have not taken a DNA test), but I think learning Creole is the best language to learn for the African Diaspora. It blends so many languages like Fongbe, Igbo, and French. With influences from English, Spanish, Portuguese, Taino, and other West African languages. This gives you a good foundation for the African Diaspora to communicate with each other. Whether they end up being fluent in Igbo, or Portuguese, or English to speak to other members of the AD, they will be familiar with it already from knowing Creole.
Haitian Creole has French and African roots-because the slaves that came up with the language were from different parts of Africa and they were interacting with the French at the time... But as you said- it'd be good to connect with the language if you're African. Where are you from? Is there anything similar between your native language and/or the language of your grandparents and Haitian Creole?
@@haitiancreolewithluciano I'm actually African American just trying to learn and embrace the pan-african culture as much as I can 🤷🏾♂️. None of my people know anything. I'm from the US.
This a great video, I'm 22, and in the past 4 months, I've been able to learn how to communicate with my 96 year old grandma❤️ I've learn how to structure my sentences. I just need to work on my words, since theyre limited. Thank you for this video
This is a wonderful video!! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it. I will check out your channel to see if you have other videos like it. Very helpful!!
I’m marrying my best friend next month- and he is from Haiti, moved to the states 3 years ago. ANYWAY I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me say 1-2 sentences in Haitian Creole for my vows. ♥️♥️♥️ please help, I know this would mean so much to him
Hey Tiffany!!!! That’s so exciting! Congrats! I’d be glad to help! Just send me the words/phrases you’d like to say! You can post them here or write me at luciano.latouche@kingswood.edu --
I’m just starting out but the phrase “Sa w vle? Ji oswa dlo” should be “what do you want…juice or water?” In the video, you say “water or juice” but ji (juice) came before dlo (water) in the sentence. 🤷♀️
I don’t know if there’s enough science to back it up- but I used this technique when I was learning English and it made me dream in English 😂- So, I assume it’s helpful!
