Always enjoy this video. I wish there was an American band that inspired such pride and passion from their audience as MOONSPELL does from the Portuguese audiences. Not to say that Americans don't love their bands but never will you see a crowd that size for a non-commercial metal band. Back in the late 80's there were some great shows that I attended that were huge for non-commercial metal bands (Queensryche in 1989 headlining a sold out show at the San Jose Civic during the Mindcrine tour being the best example off the top of my head) but today that would never happen here. Wish I was wrong but Americans today are raised in a culture which being passionate about anything that isn't "acceptable" is considered an unwritten crime and can sometimes actually be dangerous depending on how it's perceived even if that perception is incorrect.

all I can say is long live rock. Thanks again for reacting to bands that are not well known in the US.

The drummer reminds me of Jukka Nevalainen (the former drummer of Nightwish) & the keyboardist headbangs like Tuomas Holopainen. That being said, this is a great song. The lyrics are mostly in English with some Portuguese mixed in.

🤘 I understood them. Sounds like they were singing in Portuguese. Not a fan of the vocal style, but their music is pretty cool. It's so good to see females in the audience of heavier bands. In the '80s, I only seen females at Bon Jovi & Motley Crue concerts. Never at Slayer or Megadeth concerts.🧡

This is Moonspell's most known song. Even Portuguese non-metal-heads will know it, and sing at least the chorus. The fact that the song tells about a "glorious" lost past, and a longing about that past, helps to that involvement, and sense of belonging, if it makes sense. It's like an unofficial Portuguese anthem. Glad you enjoyed it!
    Yeah Ryan! Europe!
Not South-America. I do get the mix-up due to Brazil's official language being Portuguese.
As said by Tarmo Tyyri, the song is in English with the chorus in Portuguese. No spanish. Never spanish. On any circumstance whatsoever.
As for Canada, did you know there is a considerable Portuguese community in Canada?
I'll try to scrounge up something entirely in Portuguese for next month's reaction. Maybe some Fado...

Ryan, my man. I'm shocked you don't know where Portugal is. And Lisbon is the capital. Shame on you. ( Just kidding and having a good heartfelt laugh at your embarrassment). By the look at the venue, I would say it was in a Bull Arena ( Plaza de toros, if it helps). That song is from their 1995 album Wolfheart. And yes, the song is in English with the chorus in Portuguese. I'll give you a link to this song (studio recording). Translation of chorus:
Turning our backs to the world
    Proudly alone
    Glory of old
    Return to us

Could not find the perfect one, but this will do. I've presented the chorus as a 4 line verse, but here it is written as a 3 line with the last phrase separated with a ,.

Hope you like it. Kind regards.
