  • Last fall actor and woodworker NIck Offerman (NBC's Parks and Recreation) found himself with some time to kill in New York City while his wife was working on Broadway, so he decided to build a couple of Bear Mountain Boats canoes. After reading Canoecraft, Nick produced this canoe building video as a companion to Canoecraft. This sample focuses on Planking. Visit www.bearmountainboats.com for more info on this DVD.

The more I watch this guy, the more I admire his skills as a woodworker...Nick Offerman aka Ron Swanson is my great American hero...cause we all know, not all heroes wear capes...

I've always liked his character Ron, but I just recently found out that he is an avid woodworker. I went to school for wood processes and I can really appreciate the art now. knowing that he's a master at it, gives me confidence too start my own journey.

He may call himself a student or a mid level woodworker but the way he speaks and his obvious excitement for what he enjoys makes him a true teacher of the craft. I have never worked with wood in a way anyone would consider "fine craftsmanship" but he makes me want to try and that, to me, is a true gift
