How fun ☺️ I picked sewing back up in adulthood 4 years ago by watching your dinner napkin tutorial! It’s fun to look and think back on how far I’ve come since then during this tutorial!
Lovely project. I suppose that, if you made the rectangle much larger, you could make a shawl or scarf to go with whatever you are wearing around your neck or shoulders. If I wore a headscarf like that I would look more Hilda Ogden (a long time ago on Coronation street when it was entertaining) than Gloria Swanson!! You, Gertie, look fabulous in your head scarf.
had to smile when I read your post! I remember Hilda Ogden on CS. Fond memories also of Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell, LOL. I used to follow the series up to the mid-80s in NZ :)
@@kckazcoll1 I stopped watching a few years ago as the 'soap wars' kicked in and the stories became so unreal for a little back street in Manchester. I liked the older episodes. Amazingly they still have Minnie Caldwell's cat in the intro!
Love this!! I'm using, of course, a leopard print scrap I have.. and I used the tip of a seam ripper very gently to pull out the threads. Thank u so much for your tutorials. 💗💗💗💗
New Subscriber here, Gertie. Wow, just watched a couple of your videos and wished I could stay up all night and keep watching more. I have got a simple 1954 Kenmore (White) sewing machine and I got tons of material. With your videos I know I am in for quite an adventure. I fear my knitting and crochet will take second stage except I do plan on incorporating some of it into my sewing projects such as lace and I Cords for handles on bags etc. This is so exciting with some embroidery as well. I gotta go and see your video line-up. Thank you.
I'm wearing the Rose Dressing gown. That's one of the pattern expansions we did for the Patreon. www.patreon.com/gertiesworld/posts. The base pattern is the Charm pattern, The princess coat. charmpatterns.com/shop/preorder-princess-coat/
Hello Gertie Thanks for this makes me finally get my hands on my brand new sewing machine Is there also a tutorial for the robe you are wearing ? Thanks
@@GertiesWorld Gertieee! Wow, thanks for your reply I thought I’d never get an answer ♥️ I just got your ultimate dress book today in the mail so informative and pretty ! I will give it a look on Patreon too! I looove that robe 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 have a great day!
This is not related to the head scarf, but I own all your books.....so far.......hoping maybe you will make more......getting ready to order your charm patterns too. My question is related to your books. What patterns between all the books can be mixed and matched together? Could this be a topic for one of your videos?! Was thinking of using the books like what some of your charm patterns do. But I'm still learning how to understand patterns, how to read them, and how to understand the instructions as well. Which is why I'm waiting to buy the charms patterns for right now. Which makes me think of another question......what patterns do you think someone who has trouble understanding written patterns start with from your books?
The book patterns aren't designed to be easily interchangeable like we do on Charm patterns. It is something you can try when you're feeling comfortable with using patterns. I always recommend the popover dress as a good beginner project.
Super video, Gertie, you sewing silver-screen looking goddess, you. For the picot edge at minute 15.07, could you just use an overedge or overlock foot with the2.5 mm wide and 3 mm long zigzag stitch? I love my overedge foot. I use it all the time to finish seams with an appropriate seam finishing ovedging stitch (stitch number 6 on a Brother computerized machine), but I have seen it demonstrated on a normal noncomputerized machine with zigzag in Oxmanagain's video entitled Why You Will Never Need A Serger Sewing Machine - Learn Overlocking & Overcasting. I wanted to get your opinion on that, Gertie. Please let me know what you think. Are you a fan of sewing machine feet? Thank you for the wonderful head scarf video.

Best sewing channel on youtube.
I’m blessed to live in Gertie’s world 💓

I love how you still show us your stitching at double speed instead of cutting away from it.
Love it… you look so pretty with that outfit and scarf.
