Most people in this country can still segregate accents according to English, Scottish, Irish (Welsh not so much cause they sound English a lot nowadays). The typical English accent is pretty much what most people attribute British accent to and separate Scottish and Irish as something else entirely. It's something you realise when you leave the UK and visit other countries and talk to their locals with your accent.

I think that she's just been capitalizing on it more recently ever since the official English Nijisanji channel and the soon coming EN branch.
