    These heat sinks excel in optimizing cooling by accommodating higher fin densities than those achievable through extrusion methods while avoiding interface joints that can impede heat flow, a characteristic of bonded or brazed fin heat sinks. Manufacture involves precise slicing of the base's top, known as skiving, folding it back perpendicular to the base, and repeating at regular intervals to form fins.
    The skiving process enables the creation of high fin density and thin fin heat sink geometries, optimizing thermal performance. By maximizing fin surface area within a given volume, skived heat sinks exhibit superior heat transfer compared to other single-piece construction heat sinks, such as extruded aluminum heat sinks. Unlike extruded aluminum, skived heat sink fabrication doesn't rely on expensive tooling, offering greater design flexibility and faster prototyping. Each fin is cut separately using the same tool, reducing tooling costs.
