Lindsey Buckingham is one of the Best guitarist, singer, song writer and poets in the music industry. He completely oozes with Soul…He does this effortlessly and his music touches your heart. Love him standing on his own or with Fleetwood Mac. To me…there is no Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham. Each and every artist made it work. It had to be all of them Together…or nothing. What a wonderful interview. Lindsay is so refreshingly humble, honest and articulate. And in the end it is fatherhood that is most meaningful for him. That says all there needs to be said about this thoughtful loving man.
Just saw Lindsey last December - 2021. Two shows: Dallas & Sugarland (Texas). I've seen him a number of different times throughout the years this being the 4th time (solo tours). I have to say, his performances get better with age. That ain't no joke. The 2021 tour, he was 72 years old and played a non-stop 2 hour show!! (only break to switch guitars) About 20 different songs w/ 3 song encore!. His voice? The same. His guitar playing? Better and more refined! An amazing artist and musician...a living legend in our time.
The sounds that he gets out of that one guitar, from 0:27:58, is astonishing. That whole performance of Big Love is proof, if any were needed, that Lindsay Buckingham is one of the most brilliant, awesomely talented musicians of the last 50/60 years.
I don’t know exactly why, but at the end of Big Love I literally started crying, pretty hard. Took a minute to get it together and I decided to say it in this comment. Thanks Lindsey, I needed that.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview. I have been a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac since The Dance. I watched it with my dad as a teenager and was hooked. I've always loved Lindsey as a musician. This gave so much insight to him as an artist and person as well. And I loved how the interviewer was "fan girling out" like the young people say. I love that he played Big Love and Bleed to Love Her. I also love to hear the behind the music stuff and how respectful he was of Stevie throughout. Gosh this was great.
Lindsay Buckingham is genius, pure and simple. He not only elevated Fleetwood Mac into the stratosphere but has proven he is one of the few greatest, true masters of the guitar. Well done Lindsay, very well done!
Excellent! "Stevie did the middle and I did the edges"-thats a brilliant way to describe it! And I love what Lindsey said about songwriting being like throwing colors on a canvas. Great songs- I love the guitar 🎸 on Big Love! 🦋🌈💜
@@virginiaa4445 that is so true I was just saying that he is like a regular guy on stage and makes you feel like a friend and Stevie is a little weird and conceited she messed up when she voted him out of the band but he don't need the Mac he's a great solo artist that wrote most of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits he is just a great singer songwriter guitarist and I put him up there with Frampton and Joe Walsh
It's funny when he acknowledges Stevie did the bulk of the work. It's also quite evident when you compare them both when they went out as solo artists. This is unlike what some of Lindsey's naive bootlickers would have you believe.
@@scotchwhisky6094 I think he was referring to Stevie's songs when he said that he did the edges, I don't believe he is suggesting that she did the bulk of the work for the band. Both had a lot to offer, you obviously prefer Stevie's work, and in the end, it's all a matter of preferences. I happen to think Lindsey was the glue that stuck all of it together but hey , each to their opinion.
This guy really is the one that made Fleetwood Mac great. I love his solo stuff and I wish he'd kick out a album a year. Richard Thompson and Lindsey Buckingham are incredible to watch play.
He is really not that underrated he has his unique finger-picking Style that you usually only see on a banjo and anyone who has a good ear for good music and good guitar playing knows that he's a unique talent like Frampton or Joe Walsh
I was so concerned you were not coming back to us. You are so talented both vocally and instrumentally. When I got the news of your heart condition,I became more concerned. You look and sound fabulous. Stay well and play that magical music.💕
Nicks and Lindsay were both extremely hurt by each other. I watched a video where Nicks is singing and staring at him, cutting straight through his heart with her eyes, words and emotions on stage, yelling at him that "he will never get away", "time will haunt him and he will never forget her", while singing the song Silver Springs on the Dance Tour. I watched it 5 times in a row, and it really got to me. Watch it if you can as it is truly Amazing.
Lindsey and Stevie were seeing each other “romantically” again on that tour. Watch the rehearsal of The Dance too. Says alot. If you read a lot of the comments on those clips for Silver Springs (especially on instagram), Stevie’s “girls” always comment and laugh how she put a hex on him during that song.
@@JustanotherMaineryup and he had just found out his gf at the time (who he married) was pregnant so he was going to be with her. The generation who grew with linsey I think we feel so connected and woven into the chain that formed when the Big Bang of Fleetwood Mac was born. Lindsey what a master at putting the pieces together for all to love.
What is so funny is that when Lindsey Buckingham is in Fleetwood Mac it's one guitar player but when he is not with them they need two just to make his guitar parts. That my friends is a true sign of brilliant talent that they have to have two players just to do what Lindsey Buckingham does as one individual.
there are some people that you just can't replace and Lindsey is one of them and he wrote most of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits he's just a great singer songwriter guitarist and Stevia just weird and conceited
@@donaldrobinson6502 Never could stomach her. Have always wondered what he saw in her. I think their "history" speaks for itself. The whole changing line up, and then the irony of him saying he wouldn't join unless they allowed his girlfriend in. Again, ironically, her appeal is what got them on radar.
@Raymond Reid I've commented often on this and the fact remains that for many decades Fleetwood Mac, when Lindsey was in the band, hired guitarists, a keyboard player, a percussionist and several backing singers while performing live. The days of the 'classic five' playing together on stage with no outside help is LONG ago. They've had hired hands in the shadows and behind the curtains for many, many years. If you think Lindsey did ALL the guitar parts in FM shows post Tusk era, you are mistaken.
I witnessed from 75 to 79 in my teens, the greatness of Lindsey, and the whole group..went to the concerts..is far far away of what you get to see nowdays..great guitar player!!
Lindsey Buckingham is so articulate and innovate in a intellectually creative way he has a deep understanding of his musicality and it comes through in his interviews. I also think has been under rated as a songwriter, musician, composer and producer over the years he truly is a musical genius!
This was a beautiful experience. He is supremely gifted, artistic, creative, sensitive and came across as deeply committed to the power of music 🎵 to connect to people and be meaningful in their lives. It was so lovely to here that his greatest accomplishment is being a dad. A rare talent. I came to fleetwood mac via stevie nicks solo 1985 album 💿 Rock A Little. Then went through her back catalogue and then fleetwood mac’s. I really enjoyed learning from him about his creative processes, as well of course seeing him perform excerpts from his own work. The interviewer was great 👍 and so lovely 😊 to see the rapture and joy he brought to the audience of young musicians and producers. I thought also that he was honest from his points of view of things not only about the band but also Stevie Nicks and that he was respectful of her awesome 👏 talent. To say she is ego driven and not an amazing songwriter like some of the comments here is rubbish. Nicks is incredibly talented and a portent performer on stage as well. As Lindsey Buckingham implied her creative process is the inverse of his. That is different to his does not take away from her talent. Come on her solo career is huge 11 solo albums . All of the band members of Fleetwood Mac are incredibly talented artists / musicians. Their music catalogue and legacy both as a band and as solo artists speak for itself. Buckinham is one of the world’s greatest contemporary guitarists and a gifted producer and arranger. Mick Fleetwood is a demon on drums and percussion. John Mcveigh a fabulous bass guitarist. Christine Perfect likewise is a brilliant song writer in the pop genre and incredible pianist and keyboardist. Stevie Nicks writes soulful powerful and image and emotionally evocative lyrics and poetry, has a voice like no other on the planet, and also plays piano and keyboards. You know together and apart they are great.
Another genius thing that LB did to make it nearly impossible for any cover bands to recreate the sound with his finger picking style and the icing on the cake was when he picked up that unique sound of that Rick Turner LB 1 guitar. That guitar has amazing sound especially when in overdrive. Example would be I’m so afraid. Keep rocking Lindsey!!
The humble and gratitude acknowledgement of Peter Green along with Mick Fleetwood from him speaks volumes of his respect for the founders and origin of Fleetwood Mac.
This was a great interview (which I think was posted as being broadcast sometime back in 2013). What an amazingly talented singer and guitarist! If Fleetwood Mac ever does a farewell tour, it would be great to see Lindsey rejoin the band. But there's always his solo work.
So beautiful! You are special, Lindsey Buckingham! What a beautiful mind, what beautiful melodies and lyrics... and passion you have passed on to us through the years... all landmarks of all kinds of things in our lives! And jeez, sexier now than ever before! LOL!
This was just an absolute pleasure to get to hear Lindsey's take on all that has gone on through the years. I LOVED Tusk when it came out and always will! Fleetwood Mac was lucky to get him and Stevie was lucky that he wouldn't go without her! I think he was really dealt a dirty hand when he was kicked out of the band because of a supposed eye roll when Mick and Christine were waltzing which was much more of a dig at Stevie's long-winded acceptance speeches. Apparently, it was a thing or it wouldn't have been made fun of at all. Don't get me wrong, because I love Stevie Nicks as much as I love the entire band as a whole. She has gotten me through so many of the desperate times in my life as well as the good and I thank her for that. I just don't believe it was fair to insist either he goes or she does, after everything that happened. Just one woman's opinion. Thank you so much for this wonderful interview!
I'm a new Fleetwood Mac fan, and this was so enjoyable to watch. Especially whenever Lindsey plays. Didn't think he would start singing during The Chain. So cool.
Enjoyed this immensely. Don't know how I missed it. Love his music and creativity as well as his approach. It's about moving forward with the music - not doing the same. He doesn't want to stick with an oldies tour. That being said - the latest Fleetwood Mac incarnation should be called Stevie Nick's Fleetwood Mac. LOL.
I would never go see Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham Stevie Nicks is just too weird and conceited and Lindsay makes feel like an old friend, I saw him on his solo tour in 2007 at the Taft theater in Cincinnati one of the best good time rock and roll shows ever
So interesting his info on the difference in how he composed songs and how Nicks did it: she starts with the words (like a poet) and will stash it away; he begins with the music and supplies the words later. Both producing timeless gems.
He is so grounded and mature. So thoughtful and eloquent. What a life he’s had and the stories! I truly enjoyed watching this interview and hearing things from his perspective. He truly did change the course of musical history when he and Stevie joined FWM. Magic was created and we the fans and the world of music are the ones who benefited! ❤❤PS. How he answers the question regarding his relationship with Stevie is PRECIOUS. It felt so honest and heartfelt. It is clear that they will always have a very strong bond… 💞
Lindsey is a fantastic guitarist! Definitely the substance of musical glue that Fleetwood Mac needed to become the musical legacy it is. I kissed him on the cheek once, and he was just the greatest! Love Lindsey!
Lindsey mesmerises me cannot get enough of watching him, wished l had found this group a long time ago he was way too good for Stevie and so glad he found a beautiful woman and making a family he well deserved this. Love all the music Love Lindsey ❤
You should do a better research about that statement. We all love the artist, but the man was not that great to her. It was not a good relationship for them.
@@yarazadthey were ALL crappy to each other! Drugs was a big player in all that. That’s why Lindsey refused to tour on Tango and wrote the song “I Must Leave”. They all came together and forgave each other during The Dance tour. Fans should do the same, instead of always bringing up the faults.
He is interesting to listen to as well. Most musicians have really nothing much to say about anything. But this guy is very intelligent as well as a great musical talent. He has done stuff and a life we can identify with.
I agree 💯 % !! ....... and they Know this ! I think that's a healthy percentage of why these stupid arguments keep happening. I think .....
Such an amazing talent. Still hoping he rejoins fm for a tour. Love all his music
Excellent! "Stevie did the middle and I did the edges"-thats a brilliant way to describe it! And I love what Lindsey said about songwriting being like throwing colors on a canvas. Great songs- I love the guitar 🎸 on Big Love! 🦋🌈💜
He's so humble 😌
@@suzannekeith68 why would you believe that when every single other person including lindsey buckingham can admit that stevie wrote songs??
Absolute genius! Master of his craft. Thank you Lindsey Buckingham.
This guy really is the one that made Fleetwood Mac great. I love his solo stuff and I wish he'd kick out a album a year. Richard Thompson and Lindsey Buckingham are incredible to watch play.
Wow wow wow!!!!! love the raw Break the Chain, Big Love, Bleed to love her - musical masterclass. Thank you for an awesome show
He is ridiculously, fabulously, outrageously good with that guitar
What a lovely human being, so gracious. I can listen to him all day
His live performance of Big Love intro with all the finger picking, incredible.
He is under rated as a guitarist.
Not so under rated if we have anything to say about it, hee....
He is really not that underrated he has his unique finger-picking Style that you usually only see on a banjo and anyone who has a good ear for good music and good guitar playing knows that he's a unique talent like Frampton or Joe Walsh
Not anymore
nope he is not ! =)
Said no one ever.
Spot on. It is haunting.
I still believe it was a tragedy Stevie and Lyndsey did not stay together personally.
@@JustanotherMaineryup and he had just found out his gf at the time (who he married) was pregnant so he was going to be with her. The performance of that song was the most hauntingly beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Just raw emotion of knowing that the connection and history you have with someone will just never ever be.
Who knew...? what an accomplished artist he was. One needs to watch his solos to truly appreciate his artistry.
🎸
Who knew? The 50 million people who bought Rumours, maybe.
Hey mate, he STILL is!
The generation who grew with linsey I think we feel so connected and woven into the chain that formed when the Big Bang of Fleetwood Mac was born. Lindsey what a master at putting the pieces together for all to love.
Now that's how you conduct an interview. All TV hosts / interviews should follow this format. Great!!
And the two of them together aren't half as good as Lindsay by himself!!!!
My thoughts entirely. I think the same applies to Don Felder.
Brilliant! This interview format (artiste with instrument) should have been done much, much, more over the years.
That was an absolute treat of an interview. Thank you!
I witnessed from 75 to 79 in my teens, the greatness of Lindsey, and the whole group..went to the concerts..is far far away of what you get to see nowdays..great guitar player!!
I love Lindsey, what a talent! There's no FM without Lindsey, he's half the band!
Fleetwood and Mac are Fleetwood Mac. It's more like Fleetwood Mac featuring Buckingham Nicks if you feel like getting really technical.
Such a lovely, down to earth guy! What a talent too!
There is no Fleetwood Mac without him. Will never see them without him
"I'm So Afraid" is one of my favourites ☺️
Lindsey and stevie have a undying love for each other it will never die
Lindsey Buckingham is so articulate and innovate in a intellectually creative way he has a deep understanding of his musicality and it comes through in his interviews. I also think has been under rated as a songwriter, musician, composer and producer over the years he truly is a musical genius!
As much acclaim as he has, he is still one of the most under appreciated guitarists ever.
Such awesome and natural technique on the guitar + songwriting talent
Another genius thing that LB did to make it nearly impossible for any cover bands to recreate the sound with his finger picking style and the icing on the cake was when he picked up that unique sound of that Rick Turner LB 1 guitar. That guitar has amazing sound especially when in overdrive. Example would be I’m so afraid. Keep rocking Lindsey!!
Great interview. Smart people, insightful conversation without interrupting one another.
Great interview, Lindsey Buckingham is the core of creativity
The humble and gratitude acknowledgement of Peter Green along with Mick Fleetwood from him speaks volumes of his respect for the founders and origin of Fleetwood Mac.
Even in a casual setting, he brings it 100%...emotion and commitment with no shyness or reserve
This was a great interview (which I think was posted as being broadcast sometime back in 2013). What an amazingly talented singer and guitarist! If Fleetwood Mac ever does a farewell tour, it would be great to see Lindsey rejoin the band. But there's always his solo work.
Stephanie is a beautiful song.
So beautiful! You are special, Lindsey Buckingham! What a beautiful mind, what beautiful melodies and lyrics... and passion you have passed on to us through the years... all landmarks of all kinds of things in our lives! And jeez, sexier now than ever before! LOL!
A beautiful time capsule of Lindsey ❤️
Loved his strength and commitment 🎸🎵🎶🎼🥰
So cool.
A truly great guitar player and a very unique finger picking electric guitar player -- great talent -
Don't think I blinked the whole way through this interview👏🙌 😍
Amazing, will never tire listening and watching this handsome man So underated. Lucky SN having this man love her. Glad he found love again
Fleetwood Mac's sound IS the genius of Mr. Lindsay Buckingham! 💜🙋♀️
@@donaldrobinson6502 tell me more i love cincinnati
saw him at his singles tour inTampa at
tampa theatreand it was incredible. His guitar skills are sorely underated. Thanks for a great show
Awwww, I saw a flash of a tear at 7:53 ish in his left eye. He really does love Stevie. 💕💔
I still love Tusk.
Best album.
Lindsay isn't just a musical genius, he's a sagacious marvel.
Modesty is a sign of talent, real talent, this guy has earned his place in music history, def a life not wasted.
I’ve loved Lindsey since I was 6 years old, when Rumors came out. I’m still infatuated.
Think I was 16 and still have a crush on him lol he's so adorable 😍
Buckingham is a true master.
He is interesting to listen to as well. Most musicians have really nothing much to say about anything. But this guy is very intelligent as well as a great musical talent. He has done stuff and a life we can identify with.
A genius who for me writes brilliantly musically and lyrically.
I was fortunate enough to see them during their Tango in The Night tour. Huge Mac fan since I was 11.
its so nice to see lindsey do new music. thank you so much . love you man
WOW he's amazing especially when he played big love. Just mind blowing
Fleetwood Mac is not Fleetwood Mac without Lyndsey Buckingham.
Sure, but Stevie solo is superior to Lindsey solo.
@@peterfedulow5491 Stevie rocks on stage and is kind at heart. Your reckless name calling is uncalled for.
Fleetwood Mac was fleetwood Mac before Lindsey , Peter green one of the greatest
TOTALLY AGREE, YOU CAN'T REPLACE LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM JUST AS STEVIE NICKS CANNOT BE REPLACED OR ANY OTHER BAND MEMBER.
I agree 💯 % !! ....... and they Know this !
I think that's a healthy percentage of why these stupid arguments keep happening.
I think ..... Lindsey Buckingham was the BEST THING TO HAPPEN to Fleetwood Mac .
Stevie Nicks is just Silently " Bitter and Scorned " Because Lindsey moved on and started a family.
I think she's just DRAGGING AROUND THIS " T-REX OF HATE AND ANGER " with her .
You never hear about her Moving On and finding her own man ...... Sadly , But she treated Lindsey Buckingham like shit I think .
And that's why he started looking away .... who wants to be alone the rest of their lives ? .
one of the great musicians of my lifetime, able to create pop and retain creativity and that's not easy. What a career, first saw Fleetwood Mac around the Tusk album in Florida, too young to get a two hour ride to Saratoga NY for the Fleetwood Mac aka White album. Add his multidimensional skillset. Hope he remains healthy and with us for many more years.
Fantastic interview!!
I want to Specially appreciate you for being a big fan Thanks for your nice comment on my post, it means a lot to me. I want you to send me a direct message via hangouts using my personal email. They really were a power couple of their time and I hope they can still be friends because the great love they had for each other is hard to achieve in this type of industry.
Interview from 2011 , cool. Posted here April 2021. Just noticed today. Love you Lindsey
