John Barry's gorgeous theme song is removed from the beginning AND the end of post. The beautiful ending scene is a gradual overhead camera pullaway that is essential to the enjoyment of this movie, in my opinion. If you enjoyed this movie, you MUST watch the whole thing. The aforementioned theme is one of my all-time favorites.

I saw this movie back in the sixties and it's a British comedy of the first order. Keep your eyes peeled and ears open or you'll miss a lot of the subtle humor. The team of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore are spot on, Ralph Richardson is at his best and Michael Caine plays well out of character. The scene stealer is Wilfried Lawson as Peacock, the butler. While it's been a half century, I'll bet 100 USD that Peter Seller' scenes as Dr. Pratt have been doctored, no pun intended.

Haven't seen this in many, many years. Never knew what a tontine was till I saw it. I'm sure the film comes across now as a bit of a relic, needing a more patient and relaxed attitude than modern audiences can provide. This type of character-based comedy takes time to develop, and you have to kind of cherish people for their eccentricities rather than scorn them. I'm going to watch it anyway, as the British always did Silly very well. And, you know, John Mills.

But each participant must die naturally, and it proven by medical means that this was so. Wow. Once that wasn't added, I knew I was in for a good ride. Did yu know the British actually did this until..well, it became quite illegal. The British are nuts lol. But what great history n stories told!

... this movie is one of the best i ever watched, and i'm 58 ... that should tell you how much i appreciated this great movie.
"The Wrong Box is a 1966 British comedy film produced and directed by Bryan Forbes from a screenplay by Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove, based on the 1889 novel The Wrong Box by Robert Louis Stevenson and Lloyd Osbourne. "
@GEM: Film Library : you are providing us some good stuff, it's ok ... but would it be too much to ask you to name all the people who actually made these movies ?
It took me 25s to search and find the "data" ... is it really too hard work for you to be deed ???

othere movies would be " its a mad, mad, mad, mad world " also i seem to remember a movie about a group of forgers that broke into fort knox and printed over a million dollars on their own, the revealling sceen was them in the sewers, in carnival boat floats with swans and other water animals and then escaping, these were hall mark movies that are rarely ever made these days, and few genious directors attempt to try any more, quite likely its the authors of that type have all died off by now.................

They've cut the bit where Peter Sellers signs the death certificate and blots the ink with a kitten. Strange to cut that bit as it's hardly less PC than much else in the film. Very funny film in its day but has dated terribly, quite an achievement for a period piece.

but (not having seen the film for thirty years) I seem to remember Sellars using one of the errant kittens as an ink blotter, which I didn’t see this time. In addition, since there is such a sudden intense dialogue and wonderment (in the NYTIMES anyway) about this issue, here is another worrying example of an actor using a putty nose to flesh out his vision of the character he plays. A technique he seemed fond of over the years.

Please look for a different listing of this film and don't watch this one. This video has bits cut out, including the ending. Watch it for the actors if you're a fan of them specifically, but don't watch it for the story because with the pieces missing, it doesn't make any sense. Too bad. The actors are fantastic.

After watching the "full movie" lasting 1:45:51, i find that the only "missing part" is the final one, where all the people at the burial fight over while all the film credits appear on the screen : this doesn't add anything to the content and the meaning of this screenplay.
