    I view Claudio as probably the most underated guitarist/vocalist/songwriter over roughly the past 20 years. A true prog rock legend

      I just saw them last night in Houston, my first Coheed show. I couldn't believe the talent on guitar and vocals by Claudio, the whole band was incredible. Finished with a Vaxis medley I'm a fan forever now!

    If this man/ band does not make it into the rock n roll hall of fame I have given up on music. Claudio is a genius and has a musical mind of no other.. not saying he is the greatest but he is up there.

      @Bulletproof_Trump 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In his own right, the dude IS a genius. Who else can create such a deep, rich story and then craft songs around it the way he does that go so well together?

    I'm always blown away by how deep and throaty Claudio sounds like when he talks, then when he sings its like an angel speaks through him lol. Also funny to see how embarrassed he gets when complimented. When he gets anxious and stars rubbing his knees. I know because I do the same thing. Such a humble dude. That's why I love this band

    Claudio really is one of the greatest songwriters and musicians alive. I've been listening since Second Stage and I've yet to hear a song I didn't like. I literally can't say that about anyone else I listen to, past and present. Also, the fact that he still seems nervous in interviews is quite humbling.

      Agreed! Out of all their songs I was trying to think of one I don't like. I guess some I like less and more and some with more replay value, but somehow not a song I dislike that I can think of!

    I've been a fan of this band since a friend introduced me after their first album. They truly have something not a lot of bands have. They really believe in what they are doing, and are fully committed to their creative process, and trusting in that process to create and end result that is so ownable. I think that plays a huge role into the relationship with the fans, and their longevity. They weren't trying to make a specific product, or have a certain sound. They just created, and crafted something incredible. I can't wait to see them (again) with DGD this summer (another band that has mastered their creative process to make something super ownable). What a great interview!

    Great interview. A lot of these interviews are “I heard half a song on the new album it’s great! Go listen!!!” 😂
    I came in on IKSOSE3. I didn’t like the album on first play through. His vocals, and “dry snare” sound kind of put me off to it. That and a”she who shall not be named” ex was really into the band and knew all about em when they were Shabutie. So I had a struggle. But I started listening to the album on my own, and I just loved everything about it. Year and a half later Good Apollo came out, and BLEW ME A- WAY!!!! I saw them live for the first time on that tour and they had the guillotine with wings on stage…My gawd you guys, YOU HAD TO BE THERE. The band has definitely grown and gone through changes. I still love em. They’ll always be a fav. I’m glad to see Claudio still wanting to make music and art, through whatever entity he chooses🫰🏽

    Great interview! A nice crash course for those new and casual listeners who might have heard a thing or two about Coheed, but never checked it out. Claudio writes through a lens of personal experiences so much of Coheed's discography is more relatable than a new listener might realize. The secret to bands with longevity is exacly what Claudio said. You need a culture around your band. Great songs help but a sense of community is what really nails it home. think about ICP. Love or hate them, they don't just make music, they created their own world for fans to be a part of, and it's incredibly niche. People "belong" to something bigger than themselves. They're a part of it. Their fans don't just listen to songs. they live the the songs

    My theory on why I became obsessed with Coheed: I started listening when I would listen to music on my Walkman portable CD player. MP3 players were for rich people. It wasn’t practical to carry around a bunch of CDs to switch around. You picked a cd and you let that shit spin.
    Listening to their albums straight through is like watching a movie. Especially Good Apollo. It’s an emotional journey. It’s not a bunch of random tracks. And every time you listen it’s a different experience. You begin to hear background instruments reference earlier tracks. And even tracks on different albums. It’s a story.
    I don’t think I would love them as much if I discovered them today. I don’t remember the last time I consumed an entire album in one sitting. That’s not a common practice with the convenience of streaming. Unfortunately, you can’t tell your friends to sit down and listen to an entire album. So they will never get it. That’s ok though, they are mine.

      This is so accurate. I bought SSTB when it was first released in 2002. I had just turned 18 in February, album came out in March, and I had gotten a Panasonic Shockwave portable CD player for my birthday. I bought this album at the local record store and I damn near wore it out as it didn't leave that cd player for, well, a very long time. I usually try to avoid cliches but that album got me through a lot of shit.

    They are so diverse. I admit I don’t know much about the concepts behind their albums but on the other hand I love their music. They are all fantastic artists. Claudio is a phenomenal guitar player and song writer. Thank God, because music in general has sucked the last few years. 👍👍👍👍

      Totally agreed. And like they discussed in this interview, you don't need to get into the comics/book/whatever at all to appreciate them. It takes some serious talent to create something that works so well on multiple different levels.

    Am I the only one who thinks describing Coheed and Cambria to someone who never heard of the band is as difficult as describing Star Wars to someone who never watched it.
    The 10 albums, the Amory wars books, theres so much story behind the music where do you begin?
