Some background info for the song: Yoshu Fukushu loosely translates to "Revenge Prep". The song is about how Ryo (the guitarist) was bullied in school. The song starts with Nao (the drummer) singing how Ryo was bullied in 7th grade, and telling how even his sister couldn't help him, which is ironic because Nao is actually Ryo's big sister. The next part - where Ryo talks into the mic - he says that as an example a kitchen scale's needle points to 100g, but when it goes all around the dial that would mean 1100g at the same place, and it can go around again and again. People just superficially judge others and look down on you, having no idea how many times that dial went around for you, the real weight that you carry (that's why he is holding a knife and a kitchen scale on the picture at the end of that section). Then he goes about decrying hatred and the pain he had to suffer in the hands of pompous jerks, his fight out of poverty, being treated like trash by others. (The manga panels shown in the background is from the actual manga they created for this album.) Then he says he came to show them all, the best revenge is showing them he became a famous rockstar and all his former bullies can suck it. But then he speaks about how the painful memories still haunt him after all, the wounds that never healed. Then he concludes, that all the fame and money failed to heal his soul, so the best solution is just to forgive his former tormentors and move on with his life. That even living life is hard enough, so he doesn't even care if his words reach anybody, he just wants to be done with the past and move on. It's really somber song, and being of personal experience all the frustration, anger and pain on display is very real.
It’s been said by others, but Nao the drummer was/is an inspiration for many of the top female rock drummers in Japan. Akane from Band-Maid has said explicitly that Nao’s drumming showed her that even girls could hit the drums hard, and Murata Tamu (from Nemophila) has called Nao her idol! For other great songs to react to from MtH: Zetsubo Billy, What’s Up People, Maximum the Hormone (self-titled), ALIEN, Hungry Pride, and Let’s Talk about Menkatta Cottelee
Maximum the Hormone!! They are so good, no point in trying to fit them in a genre, they have no genre, they are truly unpredictable. Btw Hanabie, one of the bands you have reacted to used to be a Maximum the Hormone cover band in school, they draw heavy inspiration from them.
True - Akane always mention her and has even made at least one MTH cover; and Tamu said it directly to Nao when she met her years ago - it's funny that now, they both have two kids. Btw, Nao is Ryo (guitarist/singer) elder sister. 10.2 for that song in my book.
Great reaction! Drummer Nao is the queen of Japanese metal drums, but she has a sweet candy voice. Another great metal band from Japan is "Ningen Isu". I recommend their "Heartless Scat" Thank you!
You have the right sense, some 25 years ago they started with hardcore punk. Now they do what they want. Thier "trick" is their own sort of fusion/blend with complete other music styles. With this and with the female drummer Nao, they are very influential to the younger metal bands from Japan, especial the female ones. I´ve seen them lately. If you can go to a live show, do it, they are fantastic. P.S. For the origin of "Hormone" don´t think english, check Wikipedia "Horumonyaki"
BG: You always crush it! Thank you. Btw, Nao (drummer) is probably considered one of the best, and most influential, female Japanese drummers. Akane (Band-Maid) considers her to be her biggest inspiration. (I think there are other female drummers who have said that, but I can't recall-- so please feel free posters to chime in.)
Nice first time reaction to the legendary band Maximum the Hormone. The band that inspired Hanabie, other J-bands out there, and famous drummers from Japan 🤘🎌
Doesn't sound like expected? Don't ever have expectations or even think you know what is going to happen next with this band! They are awesome. And funny. And brutal. They will mess with your brain. Try their song A.L.I.E.N to have your mind boggled. The drummer was/is a massive inspiration to Akane from Band-Maid.
The setting of the video is a Japanese school. MAXIMUM THE RYO-KUN wrote this song about being bullied in 8th grade (中2). His sister, drummer NAO-CHYAN, is the founder and leader of the group.
As an old Australian metal head who lives in Japan I’m a big fan of M.T.H. But also being a big fan of 80s Hardcore I have to agree they are more Hardcore than heavy metal. They remind me of the likes of early S.O.D.
Nemophila do a couple of awesome MTH covers, well worth checking out. Shimi & Zetsubou Billy Do you accept requests in these comments ? If so I would like you to check out Japanese female Djent band LITTLE LILITH - DOUBLE SUICIDE, thanks for the MTH reaction, I hope it doesn't get blocked.
If you've seen "when the drummer is overqualified for the gig" videos where the pink mascot crushes the kit at a kids' concert, that's Nao the singer/drummer from MTH.

thank you so much for your effort of summarizing this very deep and inspiring tale of one of the most amazing songs ever

Maximum the Hormone is it’s own genre
Their drummer, Nao, inspired Akane from Band-Maid and Tamu from NEMOPHILA to play the drums

Why in all MTH reactions someone makes this comment? MTH is way more band than nemophilia
@@eternaltol Just to show how influential this band is
This song is about how their guitarist, Ryo, was bullied in school for being overweight
Great reaction! Drummer Nao is the queen of Japanese metal drums, but she has a sweet candy voice.
Another great metal band from Japan is "Ningen Isu". I recommend their "Heartless Scat" Thank you!
First time listener. This band puts so many different spins on their songs is amazing and they make it sounds great, thanks for the introduction here.
This is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Just pure, raw, unfiltered emotion. Brutal.

Only a matter of time before any J-Rock reviewer arrives at the MTH doorstep. Legends. Happy Days.

You can literally feel the hatred in his voice, don't know if someone said but it's about bullying that one of the band members went through

Who do you mean with S.O.D.?
Or did you just miss an A.?

thanks for the MTH reaction, I hope it doesn't get blocked.

👏👏👏👏👏🤘💀🤘❤ buena reacción amigo👊🤘✌
This is my favorite song from them.
Subbing for Band Maid, MTH and other Japanese reactions.
Him saying what sounded like F U. You don't bat an eyelash. Saiki from band maid dropping the F bomb you didn't expect it
One of their more " normal " tracks and very well known is the Ending of Death Note Season 2 " Zetsubou Billy " .
Wanna hear something harder? Check their song ALIEN!
