My regret is that I came across your channel and got hooked up to EDC :P Now I have already spent over $1200 within 3 months and I don't know if I should continue collecting or not. But hey, your presentation is high quality and content is super interesting. I love watching your videos. Please making more.

  • @jonnypescado1

I'm not sure what's changed, but your quality & content has improved recently, and it was excellent before. Keep it up!
    My regrets:
    1. Not keeping an "opportunity fund". Missed a bunch of stuff because I didn't have the money at that exact moment.
    2. Thinking "budget gear" & "just as good as" were great ideas. 4 $50 knives aren't the same as 1 $200 knife. I guess we all have to learn what quality is, but we waste so much money (and satisfaction) along the way.
    3. Buying "placeholder" gear. Things that are visually similar to what you want but at a lower price. There is no substitute. Paying for what you don't really want only delays getting what you do.
    4. "Analysis Paralysis" waiting so long and thinking too much until what you want is gone. Don't be impulsive, but don't be indecisive either.
    5. Nobody's really going to read all these so I'll stop 🤣

There’s absolutely no need to spend $200 to get a quality knife be it a folder, or fixed blade. The Benchmade Makes several folders you can find for under $150, Gerber makes some outstanding fixed blades for under $100 as does Condor, and Kbar.

    Top 4 for me
Zt301. I love the big blade and tiger stripes plus it functioned flawlessly
Spyderco pm2 blurple s110v. Had it when it first came out. Ended up buying another one. Scales and blade are badass
Leatherman free p2. I'll buy another one soon. To me it's better than the wave just wish it had interchangeable bits. Side note i edc a Leatherman juice s2 in worn ass blaze orange . Best edc multi tool ever. Change my mind
Hibbens 1965 skinner. Got it super cheap in a bulk buy deal and traded it for a trailer which I sold for $1k.

I've never felt so relatable to a TH-cam video before, the way you describe the regrets of selling certain items I have the same exact feelings. Sometimes I am lucky and also get those pieces back like you did with your second on the list here. I just bought back a flashlight I should have never sold last night! Anyway great video, really enjoyed hearing your explanations and I feel the same way.

I sold my hinderer eklipse to help pay for university bills and have wanted that knife back ever since I shipped it. I still have other high end knives like a large sebenza 21 but I still am keeping my eye out for another red g10 harpoon spanto eklipse. Sold it for way less than it's worth as well because I needed a fast sale.

I sold a pistol to a coworker/friend many years ago to fund the purchase of a pistol that was better for concealed carry. Threw in a nice Galco holster, matching mag pouch and half a dozen mags. I pretty much gave it away too. I regret selling it off and not just saving my money to buy the CCW pistol later. But that feeling of having to have it now kicked in and over ruled that thought process. 20 years later I still have the one I bought as a result of the sale with the vow I'd never sell another one. I definitely need an "opportunity fund". Great idea.

Somehow, I’ve lost my PM2. It wasn’t my most used knife but it was the first knife I modded. It was a beautiful M4 DLC blade with a so textured OD green micarta scales. Hopefully I find it but I’m slowly moving towards replacing it.

No matter which way you skin it, the Damasko is a far superior watch. Whilst I understand you regret selling the Lum-Tec from a sentimental perspective, having a quartz watch means you have the inherent weakness of relying on a battery (vs mechanical auto of something like the Damasko). On the note, I am going to throw another German made watch ‘hat’ in the ring: Sinn. Check them out, used by German military and special ops, a seriously robust and brilliant watch brand. Thanks for the videos and keep up the great work.

  • @jjabberjaw8822

I think most of my regrets come down to buying gear that's missing what I consider a really important feature or quality.
For example, im left handed and always use knives and pocket tools with my left hand. I've bought a couple of knives and pry tools with right-hand only pocket clips and I've regretted almost every one.

Hello sir. Love your content and have some of my own edc regrets. And actually one of them is my small sebenza 21. I saved up for quite a while and purchased it. My most expensive knife at the time. But it never was a knife I really enjoyed. It’s an amazing well built knife don’t get me wrong I just don’t love it on a personal preference level. Anyway I don’t ever use it or carry it and have never figured out the best way to sell or trade it so if you have any interest in it please let me know. Perhaps we can help each other with a regret. I’m not sure you will even see this but hey no harm in putting out there. Cheers!

    • @jdisdetermined
      @jdisdetermined 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I’m one of the few that agree with you. Glad we’re not alone. 😁
The Sebenza was by far the most expensive knife I had ever purchased at the time, and I was incredibly disappointed. Even after breaking it in, the action and feel was very meh for my own preferences. I love drop shut action. If $30 budget knives can do it flawlessly and reliably and still have rock solid lockup, I certainly expect it in $500+ knives. The same goes for good comfortable thumb studs.
But it’s my fault, I didn’t do enough research, just saw everyone and their dog talking about how great it was and pulled the trigger based on that. I learned I’m much more of a Shiro guy than a CRK guy. Shiros, to me, *feel* like what I imagined a $500+ knife would feel like.

    Love the hat bro!
My biggest regret…this might sound crazy, but buying fancy titanium scales for my Bugout. Don’t get me wrong they are great quality and look amazing (critter scales from Rockscale Designs, highly recommend if you want titanium scales) but I just hated carrying my Bugout after I installed them. It didn’t feel like the fun, adventure-y EDC knife I fell in love with originally. It was too classy, too pricy and just didn’t have the right vibe anymore.
I recently swapped to Flytanium micarta scales and have fallen in love with my Bugout again! They cost less, look great, feel super comfortable, have a better grip and are more in line with what I personally think the Bugout should be. I am back to carrying it all the time and added a lanyard after watching your lanyard tying video.
Sometimes the best EDC items don’t have to be decked out with the best possible materials, they just have to feel right for you. Best believe I’ll buy a Bugout in Magnacut though if that dream ever comes true…

If the rumors are true, I somehow ended up with your Marathon TSAR. I'm not a watch person at all (if I need to know what time it is, I'll look at my phone) but wearing an expensive watch like the Marathon does make you feel good so I always put it on if I'm leaving the house. I have a SKX-009j that I had to continuously fix the time and date on so having a battery powered watch is a must, even if those aren't as cool to you watch snobs. :)
