Have a friend who thought he was amazing always tellin me that he would take out the computer without losing any stocks on the hardest difficulty less than two minutes. A week later my friend and I went to a local smash tournament and he got bodied by the first person.
Tbh I had a similar experience that humbled me. It happened 3 years ago, I thought I was pretty good at this mobile moba called Vainglory ( game was really popular back then, even had esport teams). I watched pros plays and thought I could replicate their every moves. So I participated to the local tournament and went in confident that I would get 2nd or 3rd place. Actually played 2 matches and got assfucked twice.
LTG actually said something similar, no lie. He claimed that because he was such hot shit at Street Fighter, he could easily dominate at any other fighting game.
The one thing I love most about season 3 is how team structure is completely out the window- there's no anchor, point or mids anymore, it's open season and I love it

I played M.U.G.E.N. once at a minor anime convention and I absolutely DESTROYED everyone there with Zero. When I went to the next one and saw the same guy with M.U.G.E.N. set up, I knew better than to brag. Not only because I knew that it was likely that other people had enough time to play that version of the game and I didn't but also because he could nerf any character he wanted and make any other character broken that he wanted. And man did he add some broken characters that time.

Playing against computers in any fighting game will only make you mechanically good at the game and maybe up your reaction times.
A player is capable of many things, but adding a human player into the mix changes everything

I played M.U.G.E.N. once at a minor anime convention and I absolutely DESTROYED everyone there with Zero. When I went to the next one and saw the same guy with M.U.G.E.N. set up, I knew better than to brag. Not only because I knew that it was likely that other people had enough time to play that version of the game and I didn't but also because he could nerf any character he wanted and make any other character broken that he wanted. And man did he add some broken characters that time.
