- Here's the next video in the series of my Workshop Tours I've been doing with bikes I have in my collection.
This is something a little special, it's the Honda RS250 NX5 from 2000. The last year HRC made a single-sided swing-arm 250 race bike. There are not too many about that have been left standard. This one is nearly brand new having only done 25 or so laps of Jurby airfield in the IOM!
It is pretty much as it comes from the factory out of the crate, completely stock, Marchesini wheels, Brembo brakes, only the carbon cans have been added and the gold cylinder heads, its just a beautiful piece of engineering. I've never ridden one and can't wait to get a chance to ride this one once lockdown is over!

Good lord, that's a piece of engineering art. I really do love that era of 1-sided swingarm Hondas.
Absolutely stunning machine. I loved watching these machines being raced in 250GP. Definitely one of my all-time favorite bikes.👍
Amazing to me that so many of the current era racers are interested and fascinated by the 2t era production bikes. I raced RS125 Hondas 96-99 and RS250 2000 model similar to the bike shown here in 2002 and 03. Brilliant things too own race and work on. For perspective, a 250GP bike would hang on the tail of a supersport 600, so much faster than road based 250 machines and weigharound 95kg. Bruce Anstey lapped IOM course at 120mph, these things are fast sharp and rewarding to race.

Very nice bike! I had on myself when I was racing 250. I later switched to the nxa and still own it today. But still love the looks of this nx5 bike. Honda made about 350 of these.

Peter you are a lucky stuffy barstool, as you can tell i'm so envious. You deserve all the toys you can afford good on yer mate. I raced TZ's many moons ago and brought up on two strokes , road and race just love em, that two stroke sound is just pure music and the smell is intoxicating. How would you fancy a ride on a Suter .

Completely standard, stick to 4 strokes Pete 🤣VHM heads from Holland Marchesini rim on the front from Italy, rear shock in not OEM either or carbon cans they came with HRC stamped alloy cans.... looks mint though... To think what I sold my various TZ and RS's for and what they would be worth now

wow fast revving 1 to 60 must be quick
Actually not so much, 1st gear is crazy tall because you only have one start per race so by having a tall 1st gear all the ratios can be very close together to keep in the proper rpm range. Very narrow powerband but when it’s on the pipe it accelerates like a rocket and when you put on the binders it stops on a dime and gives you 9 cents change.

If you ride it, it will ruin you perception of every bike you rode previously and thought handled well. Also you face muscles will hurt from the “perma-grin” you will have while riding, 250gp bikes are like no other.

It would be nice to ride anywhere at the moment! To be fair, it would be a fun idea, not sure if I would ride that though at the classic. ✊
@@Hicky60 apsolutly. I see a few national Irish road races are off here now aswell. Shocking. But I can understand where you are coming from regarding not riding this one. The fear off bending it or breaking it up badly is a massive risk. Parts are not common and big Money. Gorgeous bike all the same. Good luck this year Peter look after yourself 👍
