Alicent always had a brother. Remember Daemon knocked him off his horse by tripping it in the tourney for Viserys unborn child the very first episode of the show.
The show runner said after the episode, “It’s not that Alicent is unwilling to hear Rhaenyra, it’s that she has no power, there’s nothing she can do anymore to stop what’s coming.” This episode showed alicent has no more power, the men in the council no longer listen to her, otto is gone which weakens her position, and her sons no longer listen to her either. Even if she tried, nothing would be accomplished.

I agree, especially how they have been plotting behind her back anyway to get argon on the throne. So even if Alicent, said welp....it was a mistake, bother Rhaenyra and Aegons children are dead, an nothing is gonna stop the war.
yeah that is true, but she could have at least be sympathetic and acknowledge what she did but instead she insists that there was no mistake. like come on now, u made a horrible mistake and your not even sorry about it. its very hard to feel sorry for her now.
It's her fault. She was turning her kid's against Rhaenyra and her son's for many years. Even when Rhaenyra tried multiple times to make things up. So what does she expect now? 🤣👍
Mair is right! I think a lot of people misinterpreted that last scene. If Alicent could stop the war, she would most definitely do it. But it was punctuated, especially at the council we saw earlier that episode, that she is powerless now. There's no stopping Aegon. There's no stopping Cole and the army. And after being shamed by Aegon and always being that second son, there's definitely no stopping Aemond. Especially after Otto was removed. On the flip side, Rhaenyra can't stop Daemon either. The war is inevitable. There's NOTHING Alicent can do. She is very aware.
Alicient's brother was actually mentioned way back in ep 1 of season 1. He was the knight whose horse was tripped during the joust by Daemon to mess with Otto
I dunno what ya'll are expecting Alicent to do at that point. Cause I can tell you going up to Aegon and saying "Hey darling just a little thing, I was totally wrong about your dad wanting you to be king so could you just set your crown aside and kneel to the lady who had your 4 year old decapitated?" has approximately a 0% chance of working and would only result in Alicent getting kicked out of the council meetings entirely and probably locked up in a tower for going mental. I hate to say it but Alicent is right, it is too late, and it no longer matters what Viserys wanted. We past all that.
Blackwood and brackens have been fighting for centuries. Both of them have larger armies than their leige lords (house tully). This was as far as they are concerned a minor skirmish. Each house can plausibly field over 10 thousand swords. They just really like to kill each other. Don't worry though this is a relatively small part of each of their individual armies you see after the cut.
Yal missed the whole point of the end of the episode Alicent realized she was wrong but understood that it’s far too late war is coming
Alicent had no control over the situation at that point hence why she says its too late. Plus, the green council were secretly going to crown Aegon without her knowledge before she told them anything, so the war is still not her fault.
If Alicent told all those men to stop fighting, do y'all think they will stop? The King wants revenge for his son. Alicent has a voice but is powerless at this point.
I don't think it matters guys, Alicent misunderstanding viserys words isn't what put Aegon on the throne but it's the council lead by Otto whom were already plotting to do it anyway, Alicent cannot prevent the war, Aegon lost a son and want revenge, Aemond want to eliminate all team black, Criston is the hand of the king and Daemond want all the greens Dead, There's no chance for peace.

A lot of people are quick to call Rhaneyra's plan to speak to Alicent stupid. Where I see their point (I clearly do!), I offer this rebuttal: What is the worst that happens? If Rhaneyra was caught and killed, Jaecerys and Daemon are still alive. The Blacks would still have leadership, and they would be more emboldened than ever to fight on in her name. See, this moment shows that Rhaneyra is gladly willing to die if it somehow means one last chance at peace. It is a testament to Rhaneyra's character and morality. She does not care about her own life. It's truly of no consequence to her when weighed against the slight possibility for peace in the realm. The end result, if it does not work, is war anyway. If only we had leaders who were willing to give up their lives, even on a foolish mission or quest to try to save the lives of hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) in return. Was it far-fetched and foolish? Sure. Was it worth it? Yes. And at least now she can proceed without the weight of guilt on her shoulders. She knows she was never cast aside by her father, she is the rightful heir, and that the war is inevitable now. She can push forward now with nothing lying heavily upon her conscience. A clearer head makes for a better leader.
I didn't how I was feeling about Rhaenyra going to see Alicient but at least Rhaenyra can now move forward knowing Viserys never changed his mind. The score in the last scene was ❤🔥❤🔥
This was a good episode. You can see the role of Hand is affecting the relationship of Alicent and Criston Cole. As they, along with everyone in Green's, come up with a plan to take out the Black's. Where Alicent wants to do things in a peaceful way where Aegon and others want war.
You can see the insecurity in Aegon as he's trying to prove to himself that he's not a weak king but a fraud as he wants to go into battle. As you can see, Larys Strong again in his ear, causing more problems from within the Greens. The BJ scene in the brothel caught me off guard. I was surprised that Aemond didn't punch him.
You can see from the Blacks that the council doesn't have faith in Rhaenyra. I like that Rhaenys sees the bigger picture trying to get Rhaenyra that talking with Alicent would probably be the best way to end the war as well avoid bloodshed. You see Rhaenyra have her kids removed to because they're not safe and to avoid another assassination attempt. Daemon goes to Harrenhal to get an army as only for the castle to be in the worst of shape. Daemon hallucinate as the death of Jaehaery gets to him as we get a cameo of young Rhaenyra. As we seeing Daemon expresses regret as his past is coming back in, not a good way.
Rhaenyra finally meets Alicent as she tells her that the Aegon that her father is talking about is Aegon the Conquor. Even tho both want peace. Alicent realized it out of her hands. Rhaenyra realized that she had no choice but to go to war. But anyway I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care, and stay amazing Mair and Sophie.

We got a little hint of how much the Brackens and Blackwoods have always hated each other in Season 1 episode 4, when Rhaenyra was being courted for marriage, a very young Blackwood was being made fun of by a Bracken, and the young boy killed the bigger boy who had been bullying him. ⚔⚔⚔

The Greens did take the first step to start the war, as stated in their council meeting. Cole is going to the Blackwoods (favor the Blacks), then the Brackens (favor the Greens), then the Riverlands to add to their army before going to Harrenhal. Daemon is already in Harrenhal but they haven't started "collecting" houses to build an army.
Daemon is experiencing "The Curse if Harenhall". He needs to get out of there. Let the Greens have it.

Alicent has no control. The council had already put a plan in place to usurp the throne before she ever told them what the King said. Yes, things have gone too far already. I don't want anyone to tell me but I keep wondering if Daemon is working on Rhae-Rhae's behalf or his own.
Love your appreciation of each other at the beginning of this video! The guy who was with Rhaenyra at the end of this episode was one of her King’s Guard, or I guess I should call him a Queen’s Guard.
In the first episode Daemon chose him as his opponent to joust and did the cheap shot where he tripped his horse

Your very wrong saying Aemond started it, the kids confronting him after he claims the dragon was wrong, the kids didn't understand that no one has a right to a dragon even if their parent rode that dragon, they aren't horses. Dragon's are supposed to be as intelligent as humans and they chose their rider, when you attempt to claim a dragon you are making a bold decision because if they do not want you as their rider they kill you and this has nothing to do with who your parents are.

Brought to her to do with what she wants. She could have kept him hostage and his vhagar would be out of commission. Or, after a few days someone could have told her that its not likely we’ll get Aemond without full war.

What makes the last scene so interesting is that Rhaenyra isn’t actually there to make peace but because she wants to know what her father’s last words were and that he chose her. That’s why she also didn’t offer anything or tried to make a compromise with Alicent. So above anything for her it’s an ego thing (confirmed by the director of this episode).
