That couple is the definition of don't judge a book by it's cover. They were literally the realest people I have seen on an TH-cam interview in a LONG time.
@@AntonioAugusto1010why? What kind of comment is this? My husband and I have been together 12 years and we have kids, and every year we only grow closer and stronger. The problem is that people need to realize that feelings come and go. Love is a choice, an action. You have to choose to love your spouse even when you can’t stand them! Love them through the hard times and you will come out on the other side much stronger.

I'm a West Virginian my grandmother is 94 and has lived in Welch her entire life. She has seen the community go from one of the most prosperous places in the state to the poorest in the country. The people there have a hard time and have been so exploited and looked down upon. Thanks for treating those you met with kindness
Awh 😔 that's so sad. Ive always been so intrigued by WV and the Appalachian lifestyle. From what I've read, and the videos I've seen, yall seem like some of the most real and nicest people. I hope you and your grandma is okay 👌
Please get your Grandma’s story recorded. My mom passed at 93 and I’m sure sorry I didn’t do that with her. So much history especially family history is gone.
My grandmother would have been 98. She grew up there. I've heard many sad stories. I bet our grandmother's knew each other. Her dad, my great grandfather, was a coal miner, an engineer, a church of God pastor, and even had to sell moonshine to get by. She said that she was teased a lot for being poor. If she only knew they all were poor.
Being exploited and looked down upon is not an excuse to be an asshole. Sorry but it's not. The majority of the country knows nothing about West Virginia so who exactly is looking down on them?
Drew, you may have unintentionally made a video about one of the most amazing & fascinating couples I’ve ever seen!! I’m sure many others agree. Tess is sooo cute & beautiful in both appearance & personality and seems to mesh really well with Dave and his BURSTING persona! Dave’s over-the-top kindness, generosity and positive outlook, shine a light on that entire region of West Virginia. I really hope Tess & Dave make it as a couple
Dave and Tess are the epitome of "salt of the earth" folk. I've visited/lived in a lot of small towns, and people like them are the heart and soul of those communities. You're a good man Drew, the reason many small town folk don't like "outsiders" is because they get laughed at and put down, but you treated everyone like just regular folk.
Yes, letting folks just be who they are is quite a gift. I've had fascinating talks with best-selling authors and homeless runaways who can't read- everyone has a storythat proves we're all alike, yet so different...
My Grandma still lives in a town like this. Its her hometown and she moved back after retirement. She went on to become a top tier divorce lawyer in a big city and a judge so she lives in modeerate luxury while most of the town lives in intense poverty. She is deeply involved in helping the community and shes leaving land and a lot of money to the town in her will for the local boys and girls club but the town is probably gonna be abandoned in 30-40 years with the exception of a few people who graze cattle.
This video had some type of energy that kept me entertained the whole time. The couple was the best. The realness of everyone else being themselves was nice to see. Great video
yes bro i usually don't watch full length videos but this was super interesting since I'm from northern Ireland its nice to see how the other half live
I am moved to tears. This is probably one of the best things I've seen on TH-cam all my life. What a heartful, BEAUTIFUL video this was. Dave and Tess have touched me deeply and Drew is such a wonderful, curious man. This was something else!
This is the most interesting, genuine and raw vlog I have ever seen on youtube. You let the people of town talk about their place rather than judging. Excellent
Back in 2013 and 2014, I was an “outsider” working in oil and gas construction in WV. I worked in some hollers that were so far back in the hills, you’d have to pipe sunshine in. Let me tell you, those people were standoffish at first, but once they got to know you, they would give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. There are some incredible people, heartbreaking and inspiring stories back in those hills and hollers. I’d love to see the great state of West Virginia be prosperous once again.
I absolutely loved this show! Dave and Tess are the sweetest and I'd invite them to my place here in Georgia just to enjoy their company and friendship. I hope to see more of them in your shows very soon. They seem very genuine and that's the kind of people we need more of in this world! Honestly they made the show 100% better. Thank you for sharing this experience it was wonderful.
I really hope that the government officials get their heads out of their rectums and start doing right by the people of your state. I have traveled through there and met some of the best people. West Virginia gets a bad rep and I'm glad that he's showing that it's just good hearted people that may be on hard times, but it doesn't let it stop them.
That’s right. Southern WV. Northern WV is way different. Like two different worlds apart. Southern WV is called “down hoopie.” That’s anything below Wheeling.
As a French man who spent 4 years in univeristy in small town university in West Virginia I can say that this place will always have a piece of my heart. Despite all the challenges this part of the US has faced and is currently facing, there is something about WV that is magical. Stunning nature, frozend waterfalls, beautiful trails and very friendly people. Wish more was done to reintegrate local communities into a healthy and functioning life cycle. I witnessed very closely the effects of the opioid epidemic and cannot believe that the big pharmaceutical companies that are responsible for it are still operating. Will always consider this place my second home and get into my feelings when I hear "country roads, take me home, to the place, I belong". Much love
Great video! Dave and Tess are the most genuinely friendly and welcoming people. I grew up in Western PA during the days of steel mills. I have seen towns ravished by blight, forgotten dreams, and drugs. This video shows the positive side of life with the people who chose to stay. Thank you Dave and Tess for the tour.
This couple the realest ever. People stop looking up to these popular social media couples that are fake. This is what real love looks like, unconditional! It’s refreshing to see this level of sincerity. I hope they stay together and have abundance ❤. By the way, Drew not knowing about ticks says a lot about his life experiences 😂.
Drew, your not knowing anything about ticks shows us viewers how many places you haven't been just in the good old USA! That was an enjoyable tidbit of info about you!
Dave and Tessa are adorable! And her accent is so cute! I could listen to her talk all day. I’m an odd one out of a lot of people know because I LOVE WV. I went in a work trip once and now I just go occasionally to get away and relax. Everyone I know thinks it’s so weird but if you’ve ever been, you know it’s such a beautiful and amazing place to reconnect with yourself. It’s like traveling to a place in a book or out of history.
Drew Binsky, My name is Chad S. I do apologize for not going with you to show you around, as I was unaware of your TH-cam presence. Glad to be a part of your video, and I wish I would have went with you to show you around. -Chad S.

Dave is one smart fella. He is like an encyclopedia of WV and life. Tess is sweet and kind. I wish them the best is life. Drew, as a black man I never delved that deep into coal country for fear of racial retribution. Hearing Tess say she’s never experienced racism woke me up. I am probably gonna try to explore more of my country now. Thanks Drew!!
I am white and I have lived in Chicago and seen more racism there (in both directions) then I did in my years living in rural America...its just a different world, its not all good not all bad

If he made educational videos about West Virginia I would love it! Like a video about the Tesla proposal in West Virginia. About the water shortages. About the people. I think that’d be SUPER COOL
My mom comes from this area. Dolly Parton once said about Appalachian people “[We] weren’t very educated but [we] were very intelligent.” Sums it up perfectly. I love my Appalachian roots!
@@minounah it's a news desert - if they have any news stations at all it's Fox and the radios and papers are biased , plus most have never traveled out of the area
I absolutely loved this video. So many interesting and welcoming people. My Dad was born in WV but I have never been there. My brother went down there years ago and found the house my dad grew up in. It was basically a small cabin/shack, up in the hills of Appalachia. My dad was not a nice man and he was extremely racist. We grew up in New Hampshire, and my mom raised us right and we turned out okay.
My Dad was born and raised in McDowell County in the 50’s. Every man in my family from his Dad to my Great Grandfather, Uncles & cousins have all worked the mines. When my Dad turned 17 he enlisted in the Army to get out. We’re taking a trip there in November to visit the remaining family I have there and show my husband the history of this place. 🖤 You will find some of the friendliest people in that region.
so much greenery could make for great gentrified tourism resorts with those vintage houses and train rides. why don't hipsters move there? are the so called "hill billies" aggressive or thieving? We have dead villages like these in East Europe as well, and they don't get gentrified because the natives are horrendous. alcoholic thieving lunatics. Plus corruption, setting up a legit BnB is a nightmare, and middle class with spare income won't go to those areas because they're afraid of getting mugged.
My dad's best friend had a similar story, in the 40s. He was 14 when he got sent down the mine in Cape Breton. That night, he wrapped his meager possessions in a rag, climbed out the window, and fled to the city. He got a job working for the railroad with my father; dad was 17 and from the city. They both dreamt of a life on the road, but dad ended up staying in a regular job. Johnny went on to buy his own big rig, and was a very successful owner/operator. I've been to 27 states, and WV is the most beautiful. We got off the I-95, and spent hours driving through those mountains. The people were lovely. ~ from Canada's Appalachia in Nova Scotia x
Dave and Tess are so sweet, and it was generous of them to give you a tour of the area! This is what I love about these sort of videos. You get to see under the surface of different places, and that kindness still exists. I feel like I’ve lost faith in others, so It’s refreshing to see there are still genuinely good people out there!! I laughed out loud when Dave said, “Do you want the long or the short of it?” 😂😂 I wish those two the best! ✌️💚 Edit: And I think you should take them to Portugal!! 🇵🇹
You struck gold with Dave and Tess seem so awesome and genuine. Dave is an absolute gem though. I could see him as a community organizer and spokesperson for the community and politicians. He doesn’t seem like the guy who’d want the responsibility of politics but the person we need in politics. You know what I mean? Lol Friend of the people. ❤
It was wonderful to meet Dave and Tess thru your video and chance encounter. Both filled my heart with compassion for two incredibly genuine people. Thanks for introducing them and sharing your lovely experience.

Awh 😔 that's so sad. Ive always been so intrigued by WV and the Appalachian lifestyle. From what I've read, and the videos I've seen, yall seem like some of the most real and nicest people. I hope you and your grandma is okay 👌
Every saint has a past Every sinner can have a future
I 10000% agree! They are amazing!
💯
I agree. I like them both tremendously on their own and I think they’re just the cutest thing ever together. ❤
"You can be happy anywhere, if you wanna be, if you choose that".
One man's boring is another's peaceful.
Perfectly said. You cannot put a price on peace of mind.
Exactly why I moved from Salem OR, to Hamlin WV.

I come from a place like that. Never crossed my mind, it could be "boring". Boredom depends on ones mind...
Dave and Tess are the best of us - smart, pragmatic, open-hearted, open-minded, generous, and true to themselves. Great video.
So refreshing to listen to listen to this couple, I’m sure they will do well!
I WONDER IF THEY HAVE A CHANNEL
Yep! Salt of earth folks! The best!
Who else would love that couple to make a TH-cam channel where they travel around and show us West Virginia and beyond!!
I'm ready to cash app them Right NOW 😅🖤🤦🏿♀️

Such a delight to see Dave and Tess. Wishing them the best in their lives!!
Dave and Tess are the absolute sweetest and I wish them nothing but the best
Tess’s giggle and Dave’s beautiful personality❤
I know !!
I'm crying, they're so precious!
@@Yourhighnessnona right!🥰
Dave and Tess are the epitome of "salt of the earth" folk.
Great video
Agreed. Real genuine souls. Such nice people!
Very true! Cool vibes whilst galavanting and traipsing WV. 🤙
Right. I had planned to just watch a few minutes but have decided to watch the full video. ❤
yes bro i usually don't watch full length videos but this was super interesting since I'm from northern Ireland its nice to see how the other half live
I am moved to tears. This is probably one of the best things I've seen on TH-cam all my life. What a heartful, BEAUTIFUL video this was. Dave and Tess have touched me deeply and Drew is such a wonderful, curious man. This was something else!
That couple was the cutest thing ever, I'm so glad they met each other.
Love from Italy ❤
I absolutely love this couple! Ya'll are awesome! Much love and appreciation to all!!🤗🥰💜💜
This is the most interesting, genuine and raw vlog I have ever seen on youtube.
Mot true
Bring Dave and Tess back. Heartwarming couple. One of my favorite videos. Thanks Drew.
Thank you so much for showing southern West Virginia in such a fair and respectful way. It means a lot to us out here.

Much love
Awe i love this... I too spent 4 years ( in Buckhannon) at university. I ❤ west virginia. I go back about once yearly.
I agree 100%. I love West Virginia.
No doubt. ❤
West Virginia gave me my first son In law ( Andrew..God rest his soul ( & my two beautiful twin grandchildren. Aleah and Liam).
The sackler family definitely got off easy.
I did not think I would be so invested in seeing random people giving a tour of West Virginia…
That part 😂 once he found the tour guide Dave and Tess I became invested ☺️
I know Tess said she didn’t want money but i hope they were both compensated for their time and honesty. Very refreshing and kind people ❤
They got all the groceries, lunch and an international holiday
They are beautiful souls, so kind and great humour ❤
He said at the end that they've become friends and he'll take them on a trip very soon 🙂
Grettings from Germany 👍
Dave's closing word were legendary, something straight from a movie: "You made my day, probably my month."
Thank you to the couple to help out SO MUCH!!!
Dave and Tess... man what a couple! We definately need more Dave and Tess, they really made the whole video if you ask me! What lovely souls they are!
The natural richness alone made me fall in love with it.
I love West Virginia. Came here from Pennsylvania and met the most incredible friends. This state really does have its own beautiful culture.
"YOU can be happy whereever if you wanna be" one of the truest thing ever
Right! Life is what u make it
Nope the environment u live in dictates that
We are what we think, that's true so you are all right 😊 Unfortunately we live in a world where we are taught conformity of thought and world view..
@@lynnkesh254Happiness is internal. Your environment is merely a reflection of your internal landscape.

Wow. Dave and Tess are some gems. You could not have found better people. I wish them all the best.
Drew Binsky,
My name is Chad S. I do apologize for not going with you to show you around, as I was unaware of your TH-cam presence. Glad to be a part of your video, and I wish I would have went with you to show you around.

There's many stories to be told in small town America maybe he'll be back
Hey Chad, it's nice to see you here in the comments regardless 👍🏻
We're you in the red shirt?
Yes I am the man seen in the red shirt. I was unaware of who he was, or else I would have rode around and showed him my side of this rural area.
Where I grew up, went to school, ECT. Here in mercer county.
Tess's laugh is really contagious. Super sweet.
Yes, I noticed that too 😊
Tess’s laughter is so joyful and contagious! What a lovely couple. 👏🤩
I loved this, you were so kind and didn't put them down or talked bad, that's what we're used to. But I really loved this thank you and you have a bunch of new subscribers now. Come back and visit any time. All our love.
So proud of the miner guy for going to rehab and getting clean! plus major respect for the work that he does! Mining looks exhausting
Thanks for buying groceries for Dave and Tess, they were great.
That's the people we have here all over😊
I am white and I have lived in Chicago and seen more racism there (in both directions) then I did in my years living in rural America...its just a different world, its not all good not all bad
He's on the spectrum.for sure.
@@Paulette-hg8shHe is not on the spectrum. I think he may have ADHD. My friends and family have it.
This is my third time watching this. And I thoroughly enjoy it each and every time. This couple is absolutely amazing and makes me wanna take a road trip to go meet them. So glad you introduced them to all of us. I’ve been watching your channel for sometime now. Love it.
PLEASE GIVE DAVE HIS OWN SHOW NOW. GUY IS A GENIUS, AND FUN
I was thinking the same
Both of them, they are fun
Just wait till the drugs ware off and he's coming down.
Dave and Tess, you are awesome! Thank you for showing us your world! Love from Germany 🌸😃

Man I loved Ruben. What a genuine person. Living rough but still proud.
they're the sweetest. i hope they're so happy and in love still
This man needs his own TH-cam channel, his enthusiasm is contagious 🙏🏽
If he made educational videos about West Virginia I would love it! Like a video about the Tesla proposal in West Virginia. About the water shortages. About the people. I think that’d be SUPER COOL
I'm sure it would help a lot financially
I was thinking the same.
My mom comes from this area. Dolly Parton once said about Appalachian people “[We] weren’t very educated but [we] were very intelligent.” Sums it up perfectly. I love my Appalachian roots!
So coool! And thx for sharing that quote !
That's called " walking sense "
Intelligent..but brain washed. The politics of the people interviewed makes zero sense.

Dave and Tess are such acute couple! This was a great interview. Thanks from an old lady in Ohio❤
I think we can all agree that the couple was the crown jewel of this video. Thank you...
The best part of this story is that you are going to take that couple to another country. What a gift. Both for them and for you.
You struck gold with these two my man..super interesting everyday people...Dave is a tour guide at heart and should study to be a local historian
Drew, Dave and Tess are the kind of friends everyone needs. They are an absolutely awesome couple! Chatty and friendly too. I love this piece!
Can I come?
Who was your dad? My maiden name was Sironko. I grew up in Gary and Welch was where we shopped, partied, etc. I hope I hear back from you
Unless you are a Democrat.
God bless west Virginia
Omgosh! This couple warms my heart. Tess is adorable!!
That man is a breath of fresh air! and his woman is so sweet and wholesome. This is such a down-to-earth documentary.
Lol
Friend of the people. ❤
It was wonderful to meet Dave and Tess thru your video and chance encounter. Both filled my heart with compassion for two incredibly genuine people. Thanks for introducing them and sharing your lovely experience.
Dave and Tess are great people, congratulations on the content!! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷
What a treat meeting David and Tess!! David knows his shit! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
I'm from the Philippines. One of best content I have viewed. It's pure honesty. The couple they are awesome.
Thank you for being so kind to West Virginians you met. This is the first documentary I’ve seen that doesn’t just go to the “towns” and say that there’s no one there. Great job
