The Best Guard vs Bigger Opponents ( w Lucas Lepri )

  • This video I have Lucas Lepri 6x World champion go over some of his key details to the sit up guard. The sit up guard in my opinion is the most efficient sweeping position in all of jiu jitsu. Lucas has used it for more than a decade. In addition the sit up guard works extremely well vs heavy opponents for sweeps as long as you know the small details. Lucas has more content on his series on.

    Master Lepri is my personal pick for greatest Grappler of all time, it's always an honor to listen to him talk Jiu-Jitsu.
    Also, I used Sit-up guard to win my grappling match against Robert E. Lee, and thereby win the Civil War. Now, I'm off to the theater, thanks for the details guys.

      You were a formidable wrestler in your youth, so you really don't need to spend that much time playing guard.
      Hope you enjoy the show. I heard there's a surprise during the intermission break, it's to die for!

    I always find guards that control one leg in any ways are genrally the most effective in control eg: (SLX, Sit up, Half, Koala)

    • @JonThomasBJJ
      @JonThomasBJJ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I especially like Lucas variation of sit up guard it’s so easy to distribute the weight of your opponent off of you and come up.

    hey Jon, do you know why Lucas favour's the lapel grip instead of passing the far sleeve to the other hand?

    • @MizzoniDojo
      @MizzoniDojo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the idea behind the lapel grip is to keep his opponents center of gravity glued to his chest/shoulder at all times, which makes manipulating the position a lot easier if and when there needs to be adjustments, like in the 2nd scenario when he in unable to have the delariva hook in anymore. Having the lapel allows him to total control to rock the weight back up.. the other hand is always free to grip the sleeve as well. That is what I imagine anyways.. oss
