Creative idea to pot them to grow in opposite directions...looking forward to see how that goes🤞

I have my gloriosum in that planter, it’s great but you’ll probably need to be repot sooner than you think, mine sized up so much when I put it in that I had to repot within a few months, case of too much success lol

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Okay....good to know. I figured I had some time before I needed anymore repot hahaha thanks Melissa!

Looks great! I don’t have any creepy crawlers, but this is a great solution. Especially planting both together so the pot isn’t lopsided at the start.

Thanks Kris. I hope they both do well and adjust to the new pot. So far so good!

Så smart och inspirerande. Jag har också en gloriosum . Min kämpar att överleva mörkret och min mindre bra belysning i brist på bra plats. Blev så inspirerad nu att plantera om den.😊🙏❣

When they're super long, buy some copper gutter and let it go the extra mile! Lol probably the most expensive pot ever but darn it would be pretty 😍

Holy smokes...that is such an awesome idea!

@@EverythingPlants it would look amazing IMO and if it's gutters, you could literally buy more pieces to lengthen it as you want without having to fully repot. And, of course, you could wall mount it at any height or even along the edge of your desk/table, on a mantle etc. I love the crawlers but can't dedicate space for them to crawl.

I love self watering and those look great. Also just looking at the pots from your link, they'll be great for my smaller crawlers. Because these plants grow so quickly for the bigger ones, I've switched to garden window boxes to get the longer length for less repotting. You might want to add that to your inventory :)

That came out beautifully! I purchased a dragon tail philodendron a few months ago, and was gifted a second one, and I planted them both in such a rectangular pot, one in each. They look very nice and interesting. I’m looking forward to spring and seeing their growth spurt, although there is some growth happening currently, too.
    Thank you for sharing.

  • @MarisaAndChew

I made a chunky mix like that for my mixed pothos pot and I had to add just plain soil on top as even half a cup of water would rush through so fast it would over for the tray 🤣 the soil on top stopped that, but definitely too airy without self-watering or a reservoir. I think the leca was a great idea as it will hold moisture but not an insane amount so you should get some great wicking up!

Hi Jeff :)...love the gloriosum so much.....i bought a long white pot last spring at target for when I need to plant in a longer pot! Such a rewarding plant :) I think they both look nice and they will be happy crossing into eachother :) hope your doing great and have a nice day :)...we are half way through winter!

I can't help but wonder if a large diameter (24" +) shallowish round pot might do for the crawlers if we guide them around the edge..? Am I just bonkers thinking this could work? I always see the rectangular boxes being used - longer and longer... And that self-watering one is especially popular! I'm picturing rows of them with props while a big round planter with the plants set a little deeper in could last twice as long. Maybe. If crawlers are flexible or might turn on their own when they encounter resistance.
I have a young pastazanum that came free with a purchase so I'm brainstorming as she's my first crawler.

That's actually an interesting idea. Think I might get tough once it gets more mature in the stem gets thicker.... But I'm always up for new ideas

I just got gloriosum and verrucosum! Thank you for the pot recommendation. Just ordered it! Now that you have it for 4 months, are you still liking it?? Have you ever used miracle gro orchid mix as well? Wondering if I should invest in promix orchid mix after watching your videos!

That is awesome to hear Khloe. Yes, I'm still liking the self-watering pot. And I have tried Miracle-Gro Orchid mix... It is basically just wood chips whereas promix has perlite and charcoal in the bag... Which I prefer
