This is an ill thought out concept. I use week on two pages for work, i really do not want a QR code blob on each day. Debden do week on two pages that fit FF personal so I hope they do not start doing QR codes too
Thank you for your input on this issue.
I agree with you. I’m not interested in their reminder app and it probably would deter me from buying inserts from them. That’s my first impression anyway. Oh dear. I am probably just getting resistant to change. I will be shouting “Get off my lawn” next. 😂. Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛
Well it certainly deterred me. I had a note in my diary to check their website, in order to buy next year's insets. But, with the QR codes, it's a "no" from me. And I don't want to pay extra, just to avoid the QR codes cluttering up my valuable space.
Thanks for your feedback as always.
Agreed, I don't want another thing crowding my inserts!
Not sure about the others, but for me personally the whole point of using a paper based productivity is for two reasons:
1. stop heavily relying on a mobile device
2. to become more productive - paper based system is way more productive than any of the digital I've used.
Maybe they are trying to play the both ways, to attract more users, those that are tech heavy/savvy
I agree I wouldn't bother with yet another app - yikes.
An old company is trying to modernize and keep its customers who moved to digital. Instead of embracing the market and offering more options for paper planners, they’re focusing on digital. If you want to try something new, make it an option. Forget the lost space - the QR code ruins the look. The main reason I prefer paper is for the overview and drawing.
I’m trying very hard to be objective about these QR codes, but I really do think they are likely to lose customers over this.
Time will tell.
they are hideous. Hunting for filofax inserts without the codes and can't find them in a5. Dumb! I like their thinner paper and plainer layouts. it's now mid November and I haven't bought next year yet - still working out the "least worst" option.
My gut feeling is that many people share your opinion.
I certainly don’t like the idea of a QR code on every entry and (yet) another reminders application. However, I do generate my own QR codes which I print onto a small label from time to time to provide a link between the analogue (Filofax) and digital systems and I find being able to do that very useful. Works really well if you want to link your Filofax diary to a photo, video, web page, or other digital reference. As an example I have a QR code in my Filofax which links to an Evernote note which contains ALL my vehicle documentation which cannot easily be achieved using a purely analogue system, it essentially expands my Filofax functions.
That is very interesting. Thank you for your input.
@@FlatabilityThe QR code as an Analogue -> Digital bridge. Assuming the user has a smartphone to scan them with, and that’s most folks.
The app doesn't allow you to just enter the date, you have to use the QR code to input anything in to the app. For me the flow of information is in the wrong direction. I tend to transfer information from the digital domain in to my paper organiser, not the other way around.
I will be uninstalling the Filofax reminders app.
I'll probably discuss this a little more, in my next coffee break video, but personally, I also cannot see the need for such an app.
I think I'm torn between two mindsets. I believe they may be a little too late to the game. Rocket book has theirs. I have a Kokuyo notebook that has the QR code and it's been around more than 10 years. QR codes have been around seriously since 2010. I'm sure there's others. The thing is I can do the same thing with free apps and I do not need the QR code. Rocketbook has downloadable PDF files you can use to digitize notes without buying their notebook. Which in turn makes it easy to create reminders and make the notes editable electronically. Then there's the fact that Filofax is actually trying to innovate and I can respect that. In the traditional planner world that's a plus.
It's an interesting thing. Thanks for your feedback.
As with my issue re multilanguage the QR code thing is another irritation. I happen to have the Commercial director's email re my issue with diary 24-68417. This was obtained after I threatened to contact the CEO, Mr Savoy.
That is so interesting. Many thanks.
With regards to the multi language inserts, I'm guessing that they are cheaper to make. But here's the thing - if you were French, surely you would want French inserts, rather than English ones, with some French added. So I really don't get it. I may discuss this in a future podcast.
Big Mistake. So Ugly. won't ever buy them again
I hear you!
I cannot BEAR the stupid QR codes. I'm trying to buy a refill without them for 2025. Sold out everywhere. Hideous, can't bear to look at them. Will just not buy these.
I share your distain of QR codes. My gut feeling is that Filofax will drop them at some point.
Seems a fad to me Neil
I am inclined to agree. I’m all for invention, but I think that Filofax should at least offer the option of inserts without QR codes, especially since many filofax users may not have smartphones or, for security reasons, have disabled their phones ability to read these codes.
