This is a bit off topic but I’ve stopped shopping at H&M because they’ve become incapable of taking a decent picture of the clothing they’re trying to sell. Every model is absolutely swamped in massive baggy clothes, the picture is zoomed in on their face and not the item, it’s in black and white or some other nonsense. Scrolling through their website is just such a mess!
My pet hate is those sites where the models look like they've been given a dose of strychnine or something. All contorted into weird positions, very off putting.
I remember in the 90s as a teen size 16. Going to Topshop with my skinny mates, I would just get bad looks from staff & the "it" girls. Of course, nothing would ever fit, but just looking at accessories, I was very uncomfortable. Even when primark came to England, the largest size they did was a small 14, but sooo cheap, tacky looking. Evans & etam was the best.
I 100% agree, I'm only a size 16 - 18, but I am really struggling now to find clothes to fit me... It's ridiculous! I don’t want smocks that look like tents I'm not ashamed of my body, I want to wear the same as someone who is a size 10 - 14. What is wrong with these stores??? Makes me angry ❤
Great video Becky. I’m a 16 and I struggle too mainly I think they believe a size bigger means the same shape and it truly isn’t. I used to use Evans but the prices are hiked up now. And yours I find use cheap horrible materials. Thank you for doing this ❤❤
Becky thankyou for that I couldn’t have said it better I’m plus size also 77years of age but like quite modern clothes within reason but I have noticed you can buy a size 24in Evan’s or marks and Spencer and they fit next and some of the other high end stores a 24is like a size 18 but there is a need for plus sizes in the area where I live in Southport we have very few shops I could go into and buy an outfit unless it is Asda even Tesco sizes are not what they should be but thankyou once again for speaking out for us we do appreciate it xxxx
M&S I bought their tights at Christmas and I am a 16 ish and got the biggest ones they did and they are supposed to fit up to a 26 or something. And I could barely get them on. 😢 it’s a shame. I have snag tights and they are definitely better. Just weren’t in the price range when I needed new tights. I regret it now.
Well done for raising this Becky. I'm 65, 5'9", size 18 and don't want catwalk fashion but just something that fits!! I struggle to get anything long enough in the torso or to flatter anyone with a bigger bust. It's very disheartening. As someone else said, there are racks of size 8/10/12 but nothing much else!
Totally agree and it’s strange out in the sales. There are racks of 10 and 12s but all the plus sizes have already sold - very demoralising and I have totally given up shopping on the High Street now.
I tried to get some linen trousers from Asda last summer, I’d seen them advertised in a magazine, when I got to Asda there was a huge rack of them , but on looking for my size 22 there wasn’t one pair left, no 20 no 24 no 18 or 16s but loads of 8s 10s and 12s, I asked a assistant who said ‘all the large sizes sold as soon as they came in, obviously there are plenty of us who want to buy, but don’t get the chance, I’ve recently bought some tops and jeans off SHEIN, just casual wear but they were really decent!
Agree with you 100% plus size fashion is so hard to find on the high street now so many company’s as you say have stopped doing plus size and those that do charge a fortune ,one sales assistant said to me well it’s because they use more material ..how’s that supposed to make us feel..just because we’re plus size doesn’t mean we want to be fashionable xx
I think the ‘more material’ comment is purely an excuse. Yours clothing makes entirely plus size clothing and they’re clearly doing very well for themselves!
Totally agree Becky, I must admit, I haven’t shopped at Evans as I found the clothes in my local store frumpy, I am so over cold shoulder tops, or tops with slogans, why they think all big girls love these, I don’t know, I would like to see more quality in plus size clothes, great video Becky ❤
I totally agree with you. The fashion industry is ruthless and they have treated the female form as a trend for as long as I can remember. The only way this will change is for young women like yourself to stand up to them. I watched my daughter starve herself from 15-18 and thank goodness she came out the other side. I think if everyone supports the plus size community and votes with their purse it will make a difference. These very thin models (in that is this how they are meant to look?) confuse our young women and I’m sorry but I’ve always thought the fashion industry was toxic.
I'm so glad you've talked about this as it's something I also noticed. I think H&Ms new art direction screams 90s super skinny supermodels. I think the supermodel trend is coming back round which is so scary!
my problem with merging regular with plus size, even if they do offer bigger sizes on most pieces - is that when they do make them in 3xl-4xl it will just be regular piece sized up instead of having different pattern suited for plus sized bodies. (I hope I make sense english is not my native language) and another thing about shein for me is that they dont ship to my country (they ship to every other country around mine but not my country :/ ), which suck bcs they are in the price range i can afford, standard of living here is much lower than for example uk so when i do shop from uk sites i have to either spend a lot of money (for me) or chase sales. it sucks. im trying to lose weight but it takes time and i have to wear something in the meantime. anyway sry for ranting in your comments 😅
Becky i loved this video. I as a plus size woman, in her 50s i find a lot of plus size clothing very dated. I like to wear edgy clothing. I like to buy from the shops, but i find a lot of the high street stop at an 18. Even in New Look where they say they go up to a 22 its never in the shop, which is really annoying. Our stores like Asda and Tu you cant try on in the stores, i have to drive 20 odd miles to get things to end up driving back to return as they are horrible fits. I really wish these brands would start listening to people like you, that know what your talking about. I also quite like Jess on the Plus size stuff, but again the sizing is weird, i have short arms i find the sleeeves really long, and the trouser length all wrong. I used to love Simply Be i have gone off their stuff as well. Its disheartening. We all cant loose weight or want to get gastric bands. Disappointed now to here that monki not doing their plus size...come on brands get your act together. The majority of woman are a 16/18 plus

Really insightful and well researched video Becky, you really are a wonderful advocate for the plus size community. I can see you as a spokesperson around the marketing aspect of this problem, as you speak so eloquently, and passionately. You are are so refreshing to watch. Someone in the industry needs to snap you up!! Congrats on all that you do to bring this up and put it out there x
Spot on Becky! everywhere seems to be reducing their plus size range. I was really impressed with the price & quality of New Look curve when they first expanded their range now I think the only thing I have purchased from them in 12months was a pair of pjs. I also found Blue Vanillla did a nice curve range during the pandemic now when I check the new in section on their website it seems to be the same items as last season. Loved Evans wide fit shoes EEE width now they offer hardly anything in this fitting & unfortunately the Yours quality in footwear just isn’t the same. I’ll be going out in pjs barefoot soon 🤣🤣 sorry got on my soapbox there lol but 👏🏻 to everything you said xx
Great video Becky. You are so right in what you say. I think generally clothing is getting way too expensive and often rhe quality ain't great. Everything goes in cycles and unfortunately here we go again......thin is " in ". Keep up the good work 👍🏻🤗
You are looking great in this video Becky. I spent a lot of time in Australia pre pandemic and wanted/needed to replenish my wardrobe and found it really really hard to find anything. The place i was living in North Queensland had a fair size community of plus size people and I am sure they must have all gone to the same shop as there was no choice, and if you wanted a bra over size 38 forget it. I was so happy when they opened H & M with a plus size section and pretty much bought everything (there was not a lot). I have heard since that it has shut down, Anyway what I am trying to say is that this seems to be a worldwide problem and I totally agree with everything you said. It seems the fashion industry thinks the people who spend money are teenagers and twenty year olds so they have to be cool by only catering for them.
I think your comment about women’s bodies not being a trend hit the mark, our bodies are so different and diverse and it feels like we were brought out for a couple of years during the body positivity trend but not we are being jaded to disappear. Becky start your own clothing line, you’ve got the marketing experience and the practical experience you just need some designers to colab with 😁
Plus size and a disability that requires extra thought into clothing that is plus size, comfortable, wheelchair friendly a double whammy as you say Yours Clothing continues to grow their is, a demand and money to be spent but honestly their are days, when I feel like styling up my PJs, and going out in them and making it my statement style and lordi do not get me started on Bras and knickers. Well thought through and balanced discussion Becky. 💜
Wheelchair clothing is so challenging! I’m not plus size, but finding the skirt hem is suddenly 4 inches too high (because I’m seated). It is so annoying. I have only been using a chair for about 6 years. Why is fashion almost never shown on a seated model?
@@hattyhide7544 Yep I am 5 ft buy a midi it is so long catches in wheels but buy a shorter dress and had better hope I have found comfortable knickers 🤦♀️ Trousers and tops the blast of cold round kidneys as need a higher waist at back of trousers and longer top but then add needing a shorter version at front so everything is not bunched up. I understand the we never see a "ME" but society wants us I visable but as I say disability is a club you never know when you can join but it is more likely than winning the lottery 💜
It’s about time someone started to talk about this ! While I’m not plus size , I suffer from BD and always buy plus size clothes ..I haven’t found a single item I have wanted on asos in the past 3 years !! Before then I bought at least two items every month 🤷🏻♀ I loved H&M …but over the past year again….nothing , either they didn’t have the size I wanted or …the size I wanted was available but no one …and I mean NO ONE. would want to wear the style ! …this is why TikTok shops are doing a crazy amount of sales , they go from size 6 to 36 and most complete outfits under £50 ….if TikTok has seen it’s a lucrative market ….why are the stores cutting back 🤷🏻♀🤷🏻♀it’s clearly an agenda to only target the kind of shopper they desire
@@BeckyReynolds I’ve bought a few outfits …and I was SHOCKED to say the least !!! Great quality and super fast shipping ….obviously not all shops will be the same ….but so far so good !!
Great informative video. I am 18/20 and tend to buy online because other than M&S and super market brands the choice is limited. Love your fresh make up look it's very flattering and summery.
Fantastic video Becky ! Keep speaking out ! I think it’s upsetting seeing size zero models which looks unhealthy and so unattractive - all stores should cater for all sizes - everyone wants to look nice no matter what age or size
Excellent video on an important topic! I think a factor you touched on bears a slightly different perspective - in the USA, at least, many people added a little to a lot of weight during the pandemic, enough so that everyone was shopping online and buying larger sizes. Now the stat shifts as they lose the weight they gained. I was a size 16/18 US for years and for most of that time there was Lane Bryant, end of options. Then there was a brief "happy time" when more lines offered affordable and stylish options. You hit the changing trends regarding body type spot on - curvy was "in" and now it is not, "heroin chic" is back. Yet the general public remains the same, we are what we are. The stores clearly do not want plus size people to be seen as we might spoil their image.
Great video. New Look are another one who claimed they were merging their standard and plus size range and then removed the plus size range and didn't stock the larger sizes of the standard range in store. Drives me mad that they can claim they are being more inclusive when they are in actuality excluding people they had previously included.
I get so much stick for shopping at places like shien, but where else can i get affordable plus size clothing that doesnt make me look like im wearing a bin bag! Literally no where to go in town now to get that emergency piece od clothing ir shoes. Losing evans from the highstreet was truly kerap because i cant just pop in and try shoes! Great video.
I think my next video like this will be able SHEIN and plus size because I am so on the fence about doing hauls from them. I know they use sweatshops but so does every other brand, plus the value, accessibility and range is second to none.
Brilliant video. I'm so relieved you've addressed this. It's hard to know why they seem to be getting rid of their larger sizes but you may well be right... fat phobia, no longer 'trendy' to focus on inclusivity in sizes, etc. I'd love it if someone did a deep dive documentary into the plus size clothing industry. I love drawing clothes for plus size women, I wish someone would magically take my drawings and work from them or ask me for more. Perhaps the lack of interest in plus size clothing now reflects also the lack of interest in design. Plus size clothes are in the main awful. It's a rare thing for me to find something I like. If only I could sew. A pertinent video Becky. We should start a movement!
Thank you for doing this video! I am frustrated with having fewer and fewer places to find good quality clothing on the high street! I’m a size 20 on the bottom and 22/24 on top - as you pointed out M&S seem to putting far fewer 22 and 24’s Evan’s is only online and Yours clothing retail outlets few and far between in the south east where I live. Plus size I may be but I still want a choice of clothes that are fashionable colourful and well made
Great video Becky ❤. Very well said 😊. The places us plus size people can shop in are getting fewer. I love 'yours clothing ' but the clothes don't wash really well and bobble easily. Yours clothing needs more competition! X
I’ve been all sizes 26/28 currently 12/18 sizes are just mad. When I was younger size 20 was the biggest unless you went to a specialty shop. No online then. I loved etam another greens failures. Evans was ok but shops have got better and more fashionable just because your plus doesn’t mean you want a tent. That said sizing in general is so off and if you are petite or really tall ya screwed. So many good points in the vid. I love Joe brown but plus upto,32 is on fashion world or simply be heaven forbid they have it on there site. Matalan im sure they do upto 28 in shop I’m loving them right now. I went to small independent langenlook before I love the style but only made for bigger bodies. M and s no matter ya size has lost the plot trying to sell to too many age groups and poor quality It’s taken me a long time to get here and I’m still learning to love my body and I do feel a privilege of going into a shop and getting off peg in most stores. So many good points the weightloss drugs has sent the world scatty. I love fatface upto 24 as the do short legs I love body acceptance but hate the toxic side and even though fashion has improved so much since I was young your right I think it’s on a cliff edge with a few stars keeping it from falling off. Brands seem to pick a side and ignore real people. For me Roman original dresses are fab but regular should be in the land of giants leg length. Did I sat super vid
Same goes for us tall and plus size women. Sizes are all over the place, things too small or too big and horrible styles. I used to love buy from Dorothy Perkins, now it’s just a bunch of very horrible and old looking clothes. Long tall Sally, that’s another one, and more expensive too. Let’s not even talk about h&m…I’m size uk 16/18 and if I want to get a pair of jeans fitting in I have to get a size 22.
So hard to find plus size clothes, it makes me feel so ugly because I used to dress the way I wanted. Sometimes they have nice plus size clothing on TikTok and Shein like you mentioned but then we all end up wearing the same clothes as each other. When I get paid I always try to get something nice but there is nothing to get. Thank you for making this video x
I am a size 18 but find that some size 18 fits perfectly and some I have to get a 20 and also with leg lengths I always order sort/petite sometimes they are just right other times they are way too long I am sure it’s because they are made in China or Bangladesh.
Hi Becks First off can i say your make up looks absolutely gorgeous xx This video was fantastic and I totally agreed with everything you said, I hope these brands see this video and step up. Would love to see more videos like this from you xxx
I am average size but enjoy your videos. I am very sad to hear this. You have clearly researched this and have personally experienced it too. There is clearly a sinister gradual withdrawal of plus sizes and labels. This does not appear to be good business practice. The fashion industry is very fickle and the way retail is going it is changing rapidly, the High Street and shopping are just not the same. A young generation is going for 2nd hand too. It is very frustrating and it looks as though plus sizes are the casualty. Well done for pointing this out and being a plus size champion!
Great video becky very imformative i can only shop online due to mobility issues which is making me get bigger & like you say anyone over a size 24 your so limited to find clothes to chose from.loving the red lip ❤ keep doing what you do we need it xx
I am a pretty straight down the middle size 20. I started buying from Monki in 2019 and due to their generally oversize clothing I was a L or XL dependant on the size of dress and I always had a lot of room in them. There were several shapes I was obsessed with and I own about 20 of their dresses that are very very regularly worn. I would always recommended them to plus size friends and I knew that some of the shapes went to a XXL, which would easily have fit a 26. For months now they have had nothing good on their site and I now feel like I can't find anything from them. I thought they were just choosing to go a different route, as their clothes were always something a bit different. But now knowing about them reducing their size range sounds like they just wanna exclude some of their long term customers. What a loss.
Very interesting chat Becky. I’m a size 28 or 30 so I do tend to buy a lot of my clothing from Yours now but had also used Evans a lot in the past and occasionally simply be. I recently wanted a new swim dress so looked on Yours as usual and I noticed they had in the option choices they had an Evans section which surprised me but I now know that yours had bought them. I don’t have a Yours branch near me and I did used to have a couple of Evans branches near which I miss so I do shop online now which is frustrating sometimes. Good vlog.
Isn't it sad. I was a teenager in the late 80's always a size 14 to 16. No chance in Top Shop/Miss Selfridge who mostly went to size 14 and occasionally a 16 but always a small cut. I was made to feel huge. So I've shopped in M&S most my life and Dear Old Evans. I have to say I asked a M&S staff member what size were their manikins and its a size 6 😮. How crazy when it's supposedly all about diversity and minorities now, that larger people are still not included. 😢 In fact it's absolutely disgusting/infuriating. Good for you Becky. Keep fighting for us. I agree with everything you say, especially lack of bigger models. I need to look at Yours again and support them as they support us. ❤
Absolutely! H&M has definitely taken a dive in my opinion. I had shopped there for years but recently there is such a poor choice. Why do brands reduce or take away the plus size ranges because “they weren’t selling” My question is if the regular range wasn’t selling would they stop the regular range? Of course not. Vast amounts of money would be ploughed into new designers.
Great video. Recently Yours took the decision to take ALL size 30/32 and above out of ALL their stores. Now the only option is to pay for postage and returns. The staff in stores I’ve spoken to said they found it so hard having to explain to customers all the time that they could no longer shop in store with many staff members say they can’t shop in store now either! Just like other brands there was no communication about this at all. I asked Yours about this on their recent insta post that they created to call out ASOS and they deleted my question straight away!
spot on becky !!! its not good enough , there is far more choice in the USA . The market is worth billions so iam not sure why it's like it is ! Yours clothing I find bad quality and old fashioned and Evans used to drive me nuts as it was overpriced with little choice or imagination or style in the clothes , most of them didnt understand the plus sized body and make clothes either far too long or with small cut sleeves or the drop cut sleeve making arms look far bigger !!! . Iam a size 16 / 18 petite and for some reason its as bad as they think just because we are shorter our measurements are not the same as a standard size 16 width ways , they think this in m& s / next all the giants , its so badly misunderstood . Plus sized people dont want to be in boring black with no style or fashion choices . Now the fat shaming has got worse with airlines weighing people !!! I used to be a size 24 because I had underactive thyroid and couldnt loose weight , there is no way I will take drugs or have surgery for being overweight , loosing weight is about health so drugs and surgery isnt healthy and these aren't easy ways to loose weight !
Couldn't agree more with your fab video. Virtually all of my wardrobe is from Yours. The brands like to hide us and keep us having no choice but to shop online. It's tedious having to return clothes that don't fit. Keep up the good work. PS. I know plenty will disagree, but I just cannot stomach the thought of buying from Shein. I watched a documentary about the company and was disgusted.
I actually went to M&S yesterday to look for some jeans and anything else I fancied and I left feeling so depressed and deflated because I couldn’t find anything above an 18 really. Also I felt so embarrassed looking through things as if people were wondering what I was even doing there!
It really feels like the whole plus size fashion industry is going backwards. Genuinely feels like my teens again with all the terrible options / lack of places to shop. I was literally down to one shop for shopping in store and now I’ve heard that even yoursclothing are removing their size 30 + sizes from in store. So being a 28/30 really means i now have nowhere to shop in person. I do live in hope that things will get better because there clearly is a market for plus size clothing.
I have noticed that all of society has become more unfriendly towards plus size people. The comments on articles, pictures and videos are often rude, sometimes downright insulting and aggressive. We need to keep our chins up. Thank you for all your videos Becky! 🧡
I totally agree with you Becky . I'm a size 16/18 and my daughter is a 22 . We both loved to shop online at H&M but now the clothes are depicted like the 1990's on prepubescent models that are extremely thin . It's practically impossible to tell what the clothes look like on a plus sized person. Why can't they show the clothes on different sizes? I call it the "fat pound" not meant to be derogatory , I'm fat and proud but I, alongside others want to spend and I love fashion clothing . "Yours" has proved that there's a thriving business in clothing for people size 14 plus. Also the population as a whole are taller and larger sizes . Women are more sporty too. I weight train and I have noticed that most women that do are classed as plus size
I might be mistaken but I think I noticed that most if not all new arrivals at River Island stop at 26 now as well. Not sure what’s going on. Great video Becky!❤
A really interesting and inciteful video, Becky. I noticed some Evans items in Yours the other day but didn't realise they'd been bought by them. I find you really engaging and you know your stuff. Thank you 😊
I haven't shopped on ASOS in maybe 6 months and I noticed last night that the number of items in a size 20 was shocking. I swear they use to have 1000+ options but it was low hundreds. Personally I think we need a Torrid here. Great video Becky!
Hi Becky, I have definitely noticed a decline in the larger sizes. When M & S did the plus sizes there were more my age group 65+, not the young ppl. I enjoyed listening, was very informative, i didnt know that about Evans. Thanks Becky Patricia ❤ ps love your make up.
I've definitely been sensing a "turn in the tide" which is depressing. As a teenager in the 70s I can tell you it was no fun when the only 'outsize' shop was Evans whose collections were mostly aimed at more mature ladies and very limited. Fortunately my mum was a fantastic dressmaker and could turn out hipster flares and cheesecloth tops that were often the envy of my mates! My teenage granddaughters are both bigger than average girls (it's so obvious this is part of our genetic makeup) and I'm already feeling their pain.
Having been a size 22 you are so right about plus size clothes. They always seem to have huge flower patterns very baggy tent like styles. Yet if they design plus size which help give shape and flatter they would sell like hot cakes. Also their plus size models are not usually actual plus sized they are tall women who wear plus sized clothes but don’t look like a real plus sized woman (I hope you know what mean) they cutting of their nose to spite their face plus size can be very lucrative. After 10months of f healthy eating and some light exercise no fad diets or drugs I’m now a size 12 I’m 4ft 11 in. Finding plus size petite was ridiculous, leg lengths and sleeves that were impossibly long. Im still finding it hard to find petite but not impossible. It’s discrimination. There needs to be more plus sized designers
@@BeckyReynolds I totally agree, just trying to think about how are they justifying it in the boardrooms🤣 It annoys me so much that we also can't find anything that's of good quality. I'm going to a wedding soon and I'm so worried about not been able to find something to wear for it!
I feel like if we have to pay more for plus, then xl should pay more than xs. It's not a valid argument for stores to make.

What really annoys me is that some clothing that looks good on a small woman does not fit properly or look good on a larger and curvier body. One design to fit every female body is just utter laziness on the fashion industries. The Next website makes me insanely angry when i want to buy a size 18 top and i can only see how it looks on a size 6 model. I want to know what it would lok like on me. So thank you Becky and all the other curcier women who lead the way for the shyer women
We had a similar thing here in the US with Old Navy. They made a huge fuss about carrying xs-3x in all women's items, in store and online. Now, plus sizes are gone from my store again and out of over 40 styles of jeans online, only 3 had sizes above 18! I swear, they never restock plus sizes. Then they can say they carry plus sizes but don't actually have to stock them. I have money to spend and nothing to spend it on. I struggle to find anything beyond Torrid and their cropped festival wear.
I think if I was a big plus-size influencer I would team up with some other plus-size influencers and would lounge my own clothing line, independent of any excisting fashion brands. Like, they could for example team up with an hourglass, apple and pearshaped influencer, create ~10 nice outfits, every outfit in 3 versions that are specifically created for those bodytypes, or even with variations for short, average and tall people etc. People would probably trust them, that they know what's important, what criteria the clothes need to match. And you don't always need a big variety of styles to choose from. Just design some nice mainstream clothes and there will be enough people who are going to like them.
@@BeckyReynoldsYeah, unfortunately for most business ideas you have to have money in the first place 😥 Once you have money it's easier to make more 😅 Thank you for your reply :)
Exactly what I was thinking, I have to really shop around a lot more now. Use to be able to find jeans at all my favorite stores but not really now. I’m a plus size is what I wear for blouses and I’m 6 foot tall and I have big shoulders so I want be wearing blouses this year. I don’t want big flowers on me. I went shopping this past weekend and bought nothing. If what they had out for spring is it. I’ll be saving my money. But I’ll be ordering from SHEIN they have some cute things. You made the best video love it 😊😊😊😊
Hi Becky, great video, very informative ! 2 things stick out for me, I remember some years ago when some plus size models hit the catwalks and we're applauded for their curves but then seem to have disappeared as quick as they came, Sophie Dahl being one, but now she is stick thin and seems embarrassed by her stint as a plus size model !! Also it seems pretty lame for clothing companies to say its more costly to make plus size fashion when the latest trend is 'everything oversized', this year we're told skinny jeans out, flares and wide legs are in ! And some of my favourite influences are now on 'weight loss journeys' or telling us about there gastric surgery. They gain their viewers because of their curves and size and then leave us behind when their half the size they were ! What is coming next ? 😢❤
Great Video, well done you ! I get my tops from Primark 2xl, Matalan too, recently have purchased two pairs of amazing jeans size 24 from Asda. More high end items I get thro NEXT, their joggers, I live in, yours, evans, simply b on their too but very few places on the high we can go these days 👚
Brilliant vlog....Going shopping now with my friend who is size 24.....There is nothing on high street......M&S was terrible.....Also price are so much more.....You're a great voice for plus size......😢😢❤❤❤
Thanks Becky, very intersring, insighful and valid. I really hope your message gets heard far and wide as reataielrs really need to take note. Currently i het everythong from either Yours, TU sainsburys or Seasalt whilst all great, just not much variety and yet i have the money to spend. You can be anything you want on this world, just not fat it seems.
So brilliant video, it’s not only clothing having these problems, I’m not large had a knee replacement 2022 I was ok to have it done then. I was put straight on the list again for the second knee to be done, one year later when I was about the time to get it done all of a sudden I’m overweight. The funny thing I’d lost over a stone in that year due to being able to get around easier size 16. Sorry but I think we’ve all got to be matchsticks
I wonder whether some of this is due to all the controversies surrounding the FA people on Insta etc. It seems (to me on the little I've seen) that what started out as a positive movement (body positivity regardless of size) has become a somewhat toxic arena. Perhaps they want to distance themselves from it? But who knows🙄 Appreciate you speaking about this and doing your research for us❤ Hi to Mum and Dad, hope they're well😊
It sucks! Im a uk 18 and my sister is about a size 30 and always moans about less and less choice out there! And its not just in fashion but in adverts....they have same sex couples, mixed raced families, etc but no one over a size 14!!!! When you walk around in real lfe, theres quite a few of us larger folk you see, yet TV and mags etc clearly live on another planet!! Great video x
Great video! Plus size clothing has always been sparse. We have money to spend too! Wide shoes are also somewhat hard to find and very limited in cute styles.
Thank you for dressing this suitation..plus size are disappearing off the high street . Evans and yours and Newlook were the only ones ..but when i visit Newlook they look at me with pity when i ask if the stock plus size clothes only to be told again and again oh sorry no only bigger stores or only online surprise surprise .Recently i went to yours to be told that they don't stock sizes above 26..😠 online only so delivery charges again ..is it too much to ask that larger ladies might even want to try before you buy its took the pleasure out of shopping. So i buy from shein and temu now not because i really want to but the lack of sizes and availability it forces us to shop elsewhere. 😔
I agree entirely, I feel most if not all brands have pulled back because pre and during the pandemic the body positivity movement was a mainstream thing, hence them making money. Since then I’ve found shopping personally for fashionable clothes near to impossible, and apart from the underwear at yours I don’t want to wear a large cold shoulder jumper 😂 Furthermore the issue with shopping on tiktok and shein you can’t get a GOOD quality pair of true sized 28/30 jeans. The plus size clothing section is a mess and I hope something changes! 💞
So strange, my H&M app (here in America) still has the Plus-size section. Now the stores still only go up to an XXL, which I dislike, but I can at least do online returns in-store instead of having to pay for returns. Although the styles that are currently/recently offered in plus sizes on H&M are pretty boring. And don’t even get me started on the slim pickings offered on ASOS lately. Pretty disappointing. In America we only have about 3-4 brands that actually carry plus sizes in-store, but mostly we have to shop online too. I also wish ALL of the brands would ship internationally so that everyone would have more access to stylish choices…
I think the new change will eventually come to the US - it’s so hard to find items on their website and app now. I’m so jealous of some of the brands you have in the US as well as plus being available in Walmart and Target!

This is why I never go shopping on the High Street, frustrating and embarrassing! I'm 47 and I still like to dress nice well jeans and horror/halloween themed haha. You should be an asos insider
I went to mattalan and yours a few weeks ago and had trouble finding the bigger sizes in both stores. There’s a definite lack of plus size clothes on the high street,it’s very disappointing. It’s 2024 for goodness sake. I’m 50 years old and remember only having Evan’s to shop with as a teen. I struggle with the ethics of shein but tbh I’ve been shopping with them more and more. Their quality and size range has vastly improved over the years. I don’t shop at boohoo as I find the quality isn’t as good. I hope stores find your video and take note! They just do better x
Thanks Becky. As a UK size 24, I’ve noted the availability of in store clothing is shrinking all the time. I cannot remember the last time I didn’t buy on line. 😔 I really don’t like YOUrS clothing , poor quality and to many cold shoulder butterfly tops for me.
Living overseas, a lot of online shops do not send to my country, so my choice is even more restricted. I used to be an Evans customer - well made and durable clothing. Even BonMarche when they used to sell up to size 30. Then I started shopping with Yours, about 16 years ago. A bit dicey but you could stock up on the basics and use your own accessories to smarten them up a bit. The quality of Yours clothing has gone downhill in the last couple of years. Now I am buying from Temu - their choice in plus size is not vast, and sometimes the designs and very Chinese colours make you wince and the photos quite frankly lie like a rug… but nevertheless I have scored some excellent bargains from them, and postage is free (for now). So make hay while the sun shines there.
I think as retail struggles they phase out the non-mainstream sizes. I’m still not sure why they would claim a plus size market isn’t there. I do know- with the rise of WLS and the GLP-1’s more and more are jumping on the weight loss bandwagon with pretty good success. In fact I can rattle off 4 people I know in the last year who had WLS and are now no longer plus size (oh would it just be that simple for me! I’ve had a complicated relationship with food and dieting and trying to be a good weight). Even Bloomchic- which started off with a bang- now has limited inventory and I wonder WTH happened. 😢
Evans in the past only went up to size 26 and was smaller only 32 in the basics. Time to learn to sew. Some indie patterns go up to a 32 some maybe higher
@@BeckyReynolds look at Tilly and the buttons. Her books on beginner sewing are good but I’m not sure what size the patterns go up-to but are very good for explaining techniques. Lots of sew alongs on TH-cam. Her patterns do go up to a 32 her single patterns. Jamie pj shorts or trousers a good first pattern
A book that teaches you to sew is called sewing the curve. It even helps with what sewing machine to buy. I’ve not got this book but the reviews on TH-cam are very positive.
Excellent video. I’m in my 50s and, whilst I don’t want trends, neither do I want polyester smocks with butterflies all over them. Very frustrating.
Exactly!
I’m at the age now where I want clothes I’m cool in. Bedding feels nicer than most clothes these days
Yes the photos are getting very ‘Zara’
My pet hate is those sites where the models look like they've been given a dose of strychnine or something. All contorted into weird positions, very off putting.
Yes but have you noticed most models are tall long limbed African women what’s all that about 🤔
@@BeckyReynolds zara website has to take the award for the worst ever website and sizing !!!
And the models look like men
I remember in the 90s as a teen size 16.
Topshop is honestly so triggering
I’m not plus size but enjoyed the video, very informative . I never understand why brands think plus size fashion should be all black or floral items.
Thanks! X
I love florals as long as they are small. I hate the big old curtain florals.
Thank you for doing this ❤❤
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you xxx
I’m a size 16/18 and I’ve to buy size xxL tights has anyone else noticed how small tights are made nowadays x
Yeah not just in circumference but in length too.
Oh so it’s not just me. Got some from new from new look, no stretch and very small!
Definitely try snag tights! I have a mini haul on the way!
I got caught on that too, had to wear knickers over the top on xxl too to keep the damn things up and am only a size 16.
Becky, if I could like this 100000 times I would! Spot on and thank you for raising the awareness of this! ❤
Thank you so much!!!!
It’s so rubbish!
Totally agree and it’s strange out in the sales. There are racks of 10 and 12s but all the plus sizes have already sold - very demoralising and I have totally given up shopping on the High Street now.
Same :(
I tried to get some linen trousers from Asda last summer, I’d seen them advertised in a magazine, when I got to Asda there was a huge rack of them , but on looking for my size 22 there wasn’t one pair left, no 20 no 24 no 18 or 16s but loads of 8s 10s and 12s, I asked a assistant who said ‘all the large sizes sold as soon as they came in, obviously there are plenty of us who want to buy, but don’t get the chance, I’ve recently bought some tops and jeans off SHEIN, just casual wear but they were really decent!
Yeah the largest sizes always sell out first!
So true!
Glad to hear your daughter is better 💖
I'm so glad you've talked about this as it's something I also noticed. I think H&Ms new art direction screams 90s super skinny supermodels. I think the supermodel trend is coming back round which is so scary!
It’s very Zara 🙄
Love this and love you - I'm an Australian and a UK size 34-38 and Yours is all I have available that makes me feel remotely human and trendy ....
They do have some really cute pieces!!!
my problem with merging regular with plus size, even if they do offer bigger sizes on most pieces - is that when they do make them in 3xl-4xl it will just be regular piece sized up instead of having different pattern suited for plus sized bodies. (I hope I make sense english is not my native language)
and another thing about shein for me is that they dont ship to my country (they ship to every other country around mine but not my country :/ ), which suck bcs they are in the price range i can afford, standard of living here is much lower than for example uk so when i do shop from uk sites i have to either spend a lot of money (for me) or chase sales. it sucks. im trying to lose weight but it takes time and i have to wear something in the meantime.
anyway sry for ranting in your comments 😅
Thank you so much!
Yeah, at least Evans did leather shoes! I hope Yours will still offer this even at a higher price point.
Great video Becky. You are so right in what you say. I think generally clothing is getting way too expensive and often rhe quality ain't great. Everything goes in cycles and unfortunately here we go again......thin is " in ". Keep up the good work 👍🏻🤗
So true!
I know Snag are coming out with more clothing too, which might be suitable?
Wheelchair clothing is so challenging! I’m not plus size, but finding the skirt hem is suddenly 4 inches too high (because I’m seated). It is so annoying. I have only been using a chair for about 6 years. Why is fashion almost never shown on a seated model?
@@BeckyReynolds
Thanks Becky will keep my eye out for it 💜

Yep I am 5 ft buy a midi it is so long catches in wheels but buy a shorter dress and had better hope I have found comfortable knickers 🤦♀️
Trousers and tops the blast of cold round kidneys as need a higher waist at back of trousers and longer top but then add needing a shorter version at front so everything is not bunched up.
I understand the we never see a
"ME" but society wants us I visable but as I say disability is a club you never know when you can join but it is more likely than winning the lottery 💜
Yeah I might have a look at what TikTok have to offer but I do worry about the quality!
I'm curious now. I'd have never entertained the idea of buying anything at all in TikTok. Have you bought? What's the quality like?
@@BeckyReynolds I’ve bought a few outfits …and I was SHOCKED to say the least !!! Great quality and super fast shipping ….obviously not all shops will be the same ….but so far so good !!
Give them a go …see my reply to Becky 😊 @@amaliagrassi6870
Great informative video. I am 18/20 and tend to buy online because other than M&S and super market brands the choice is limited. Love your fresh make up look it's very flattering and summery.
I’ve noticed that New Look has reduced the sizes available (now only going up to a 22/24 max!).
Great video!
Oh wow!
Fantastic video Becky ! Keep speaking out ! I think it’s upsetting seeing size zero models which looks unhealthy and so unattractive - all stores should cater for all sizes - everyone wants to look nice no matter what age or size
I totally agree!
I much prefer plus size being separate as so often when they merge, most of the stuff doesn’t go to our size and you’re just left disappointed
Plus size I may be but I still want a choice of clothes that are fashionable colourful and well made
I totally agree!
Great video Becky ❤. Very well said 😊. The places us plus size people can shop in are getting fewer. I love 'yours clothing ' but the clothes don't wash really well and bobble easily. Yours clothing needs more competition! X
So true!
M and s no matter ya size has lost the plot trying to sell to too many age groups and poor quality
It’s taken me a long time to get here and I’m still learning to love my body and I do feel a privilege of going into a shop and getting off peg in most stores.
So many good points the weightloss drugs has sent the world scatty.
I love fatface upto 24 as the do short legs
I love body acceptance but hate the toxic side and even though fashion has improved so much since I was young your right I think it’s on a cliff edge with a few stars keeping it from falling off. Brands seem to pick a side and ignore real people.
For me Roman original dresses are fab but regular should be in the land of giants leg length.
Did I sat super vid
Thank you x
Same goes for us tall and plus size women. Sizes are all over the place, things too small or too big and horrible styles. I used to love buy from Dorothy Perkins, now it’s just a bunch of very horrible and old looking clothes. Long tall Sally, that’s another one, and more expensive too.
Let’s not even talk about h&m…I’m size uk 16/18 and if I want to get a pair of jeans fitting in I have to get a size 22.
It’s rubbish!
Thanks for watching! X
I am a size 18 but find that some size 18 fits perfectly and some I have to get a 20 and also with leg lengths I always order sort/petite sometimes they are just right other times they are way too long I am sure it’s because they are made in China or Bangladesh.
Potentially!
Hi Becks
First off can i say your make up looks absolutely gorgeous xx
This video was fantastic and I totally agreed with everything you said, I hope these brands see this video and step up.
Would love to see more videos like this from you xxx
Thanks Jodie x
Great video Becky. Thanks for speaking out.👍
Always!
Yes second hand is a great way to be a bit more eco friendly! Maybe I should do a vinted haul!
Great video becky very imformative i can only shop online due to mobility issues which is making me get bigger & like you say anyone over a size 24 your so limited to find clothes to chose from.loving the red lip ❤ keep doing what you do we need it xx
Glad it was helpful!
It’s so disappointing!
Have they reduced the plus sizes 😭 I used to love monki. Only place I've fitted into a size 8 🤣
Good vlog.
I miss shopping on the high street. I have a Yours near by but it’s in the run down old shopping centre rather than our nice one.
That’s crazy, size 6?! I wonder how many M&S customers are a size 6!!!
Loved this video, you have really hit on a troubling trend
Thank you!
Exactly!!!
Great video Bex! I hope that somebody out there picks up on this ‘fashion disaster’ for you and all curvy people out there!
Thanks mum x
Great video. Recently Yours took the decision to take ALL size 30/32 and above out of ALL their stores. Now the only option is to pay for postage and returns. The staff in stores I’ve spoken to said they found it so hard having to explain to customers all the time that they could no longer shop in store with many staff members say they can’t shop in store now either! Just like other brands there was no communication about this at all. I asked Yours about this on their recent insta post that they created to call out ASOS and they deleted my question straight away!
I think it’s pretty cheap of them to make up pay postage, especially for returns but they’ve basically cornered the market now!!!
spot on becky !!! its not good enough , there is far more choice in the USA . The market is worth billions so iam not sure why it's like it is ! Yours clothing I find bad quality and old fashioned
and Evans used to drive me nuts as it was overpriced with little choice or imagination or style in the clothes , most of them didnt understand the plus sized body and make clothes either far too long or with small cut sleeves or the drop cut sleeve making arms look far bigger !!!
Also having to pay for returns now! It’s a bit cheeky.
Totally🙄
I actually went to M&S yesterday to look for some jeans and anything else I fancied and I left feeling so depressed and deflated because I couldn’t find anything above an 18 really. Also I felt so embarrassed looking through things as if people were wondering what I was even doing there!
Jeans are the worst to shop for!
That’s so rubbish!! I hope Yours listens to their customers and starts selling beyond a 30 again.
I have noticed that all of society has become more unfriendly towards plus size people. The comments on articles, pictures and videos are often rude, sometimes downright insulting and aggressive. We need to keep our chins up. Thank you for all your videos Becky! 🧡
I agree :( it’s awful
I must investigate 🧐
Excellent informative discussion Becky, thanks x
You are so welcome!
A really interesting and inciteful video, Becky. I noticed some Evans items in Yours the other day but didn't realise they'd been bought by them. I find you really engaging and you know your stuff. Thank you 😊
Thanks for watching x
I haven't shopped on ASOS in maybe 6 months and I noticed last night that the number of items in a size 20 was shocking. I swear they use to have 1000+ options but it was low hundreds. Personally I think we need a Torrid here. Great video Becky!
That’d be great!
Hi Becky,
I have definitely noticed a decline in the larger sizes. When M & S did the plus sizes there were more my age group 65+, not the young ppl.
I enjoyed listening, was very informative, i didnt know that about Evans. Thanks Becky Patricia ❤ ps love your make up.
Thank you x
I've definitely been sensing a "turn in the tide" which is depressing. As a teenager in the 70s I can tell you it was no fun when the only 'outsize' shop was Evans whose collections were mostly aimed at more mature ladies and very limited. Fortunately my mum was a fantastic dressmaker and could turn out hipster flares and cheesecloth tops that were often the envy of my mates! My teenage granddaughters are both bigger than average girls (it's so obvious this is part of our genetic makeup) and I'm already feeling their pain.
Maybe I should try making my own clothes!
I remember Evan’s outsize as a kid in the 80s the tent dresses they had
@@BeckyReynolds many indi pattens go up to 32
Having been a size 22 you are so right about plus size clothes.
Only place i shop now is dusturbia as they go up to a 20 but i have to be careful which ones will fit
I also wonder if this is about money saving too, because of the extra material needed for larger sizes at the same price point of 'regular sizes'?
Maybe, however the quality of the fabrics they use, I’m not sure it costs that much more 😂
@@BeckyReynolds I totally agree, just trying to think about how are they justifying it in the boardrooms🤣 It annoys me so much that we also can't find anything that's of good quality.
Hopefully my plus size fashion try on videos help!
Yeah I visited Old Navy last year and they didn’t have anything in my size apart from the unisex Christmas T-shirts! Such a shame.
Great idea, it would just require a lot of investment!
@@BeckyReynoldsYeah, unfortunately for most business ideas you have to have money in the first place 😥 Once you have money it's easier to make more 😅
Thank you for your reply :)
That was absolutely fantastic Becky ! Well said 👏👏👏.
Thank you!
I'm finding it so hard to find plus size maternity clothes!!! They seem to stop at a 20. Anyone have any shops that I can get some from?
Exactly what I was thinking, I have to really shop around a lot more now. Use to be able to find jeans at all my favorite stores but not really now. I’m a plus size is what I wear for blouses and I’m 6 foot tall and I have big shoulders so I want be wearing blouses this year. I don’t want big flowers on me. I went shopping this past weekend and bought nothing. If what they had out for spring is it. I’ll be saving my money. But I’ll be ordering from SHEIN they have some cute things. You made the best video love it 😊😊😊😊
I just end up buying make up and accessories when shopping in town!
When you compare what’s available to people size 8-12 to the rest especially plus size, we really have barely any options.
@@BeckyReynolds exactly it's so very unfair Becky
Agree, thanks for watching x
What about ladies with larger than size 8 feet ?
Amazing video, couldn’t agree more!! If any brands mentioned get in touch with you (hopefully) would love to see an update or explanation x
Hopefully but I doubt it!
I wonder whether some of this is due to all the controversies surrounding the FA people on Insta etc. It seems (to me on the little I've seen) that what started out as a positive movement (body positivity regardless of size) has become a somewhat toxic arena. Perhaps they want to distance themselves from it? But who knows🙄
Appreciate you speaking about this and doing your research for us❤ Hi to Mum and Dad, hope they're well😊
Thanks Heather x
I also agree, I feel like I can only get mens sizes or lucy & Yak or yours now tbh
Yeah, I’m also not a fan of the Lucy and Yak style!
Even simple be models are quite skinny now too! I used to like to see plus size models to imagine how they'd look on me.
Same! I think it’s across the board, they’re all using the same ‘plus’ models.
My complaint is Simply Be doesn't ship to the U.S. anymore! I used to love the Joe Brown line. 😢
@@janismacolley2395Joe Brown has their own website and they ship to the U.S
Good on you for pointing this out. ❤
Thank you!
So true! I’ve never been that much into shoes because they’re either too narrow or too ugly 😂
I hate the Yours delivery charge and returns!!
Yours has a couple of cute things, however I want to be able to shop from multiple places!

I hope so too!
Great video Becky…Im plus size myself ,so good on you girl .Love ur style ❤x
Thanks so much!!
It’s just nice to have options!
hi Becky ,
autograph stores here in oz have closed down only on- line now 😊🙏
I love your eye shadow. You have done your make up fabulous
Thank you!!
I shop from yours mainly! & Sometimes from new look. Im a size 20
Wish we had more options!
I went shopping yesterday and could barely find anything over a size 16. John Lewis basically only had max size 14!
Excellent video Becky ❤
Thank you!
I’m tempted to look into sewing!
Really interesting Becky . Thank you for doing this and the research .x
Glad it was helpful!
