- Since I can't plant anything quite yet, and my climate is too cold for tomatoes ever, check this out! Meet my parents and part of their garden.
***************************************************************
If you are new to my channel and Fy Nyth (Welsh for "My Nest") in general, welcome! I'm Ariel. I live off grid (as in no physical connection to public utilities) in a tiny house on wheels in the mountains of western Wyoming. I've been living this lifestyle for over four years now and love it! What will you find if you follow my channel and watch my videos?
Real life here. I try to show the good and the bad. The ups and the downs. What works, and what doesn't. The parts I love (most of it!), and the things that suck. Not just the showroom version of a tiny house, but everyday life in a tiny house. Not just the romantic idea of "homesteading" or off grid life, but the everyday details of this lifestyle. I split my own wood for heat, carry my water by hand, and attempt to grow as much of my own food as I can between the weather and wildlife here. I hope to help others learn from my mistakes and make life just a little easier for anyone else interested in pursuing a similar lifestyle.
I live in a somewhat harsh and cold climate, but enjoy the stunning sceanery and wildlife that I am surrounded by on a daily basis. You'll also see videos of of the nature and wildlife around my home. If you are interested in my photography or purchasing a photo, I'd love if you follow that over at Facebook.com/ArielCelestePhotography or ArielCelestePhotography.zenfolio.com!
For a bit of my background, as a child, I was fortunate enough to be able to spend much of my free time exploring and playing in the woods. Little has changed now that I'm older I suppose. I moved to a place with a bigger woods and still enjoy spending my time outside gardening, hiking, exploring, and photographing the natural world around me. As the eldest of seven children who grew up in a homeschooling family, I had the opportunity, not always appreciated at the time, to learn to do quite a bit of work. I've enjoyed a wide range of jobs, everything from greenhouses and flower arranging to wilderness therapy with teens, to milking cows. Mostly, I enjoy doing the kinds of things that I think provide a real service or value to others. Some of my other hobbies include backpacking, hosting people, cooking, preserving food, anything to do with nutrition, reading, journalling, and sitting around a fire and talking to my close friends.

You have good looking parents.
And you can see where your values come from.
Very smart parents
Thank you so much. And please be sure to thank your parents for showing us this. They are very clear and I appreciate it!
I'll tell them!
A huge thank you to you and your parents. Lots of clear and thorough detailing to building a long standing green house. Now I know where your talent at explaining and gardening comes from then shared to many. The quality of fruit sold to restaurants from your parent's land is incredibly worthy. The care and love to each planting season and harvest. Many blessing to you and your parents.
You are truly a reflection of your lovely parents. Thanks for sharing them and their gardening experience with us.
Anybody who grows inexpensive heirloom tomatoes is doing the world a great service. No other tomatoes has quite the texture and taste.
Ariel your parents are lovely! They must be very proud of you ! Your Dad shared some priceless tips on greenhouse construction- good to know ! Can't wait to see part two !
Sir, Mam you raised the most beautiful, kind, hardworking young woman. I'm so proud of her and rooting for her future and I'm on another continent. Praying blessings upon you
One could actually build a fine hothouse with his wonderful instructions!! SO generous!! ❤
So this is where Ariel got her ability to explain things with incredible details! What a talented instructor!
No idea how I missed this video at the time. Glad I have seen it now. That was the most perfect detailed "how to" I have ever seen for greenhouse build etc. Brilliant. Hugs from Scotland.
Would love to see more of your parents, land, cooking etc
Your father impresses me as a gentle giant.
I had no idea that your parents were plain. Thank you for sharing them with us.
I assume you must have some familiarity with other plain folks to even know that's how they refer to themselves. :) Are you from PA?
I absolutely loved this video! I am fairly new to your channel and felt for someone your age, you went into off-grid simple living with quite a bit of experience and practical knowledge. No way all of you know-how came from books and the internet. I had wondered about your background many times. This definitely explains a lot! (Not that you need to explain anything to anyone.) Kudos to your parents for raising such a knowledgeable, strong and morally solid daughter. I have worried about you, but now I know you will be fine. There's a saying, "When you get there, don't forget where you came from." I think your parents can rest assured they provided you a solid foundation and you will never forget where you came from.🥰
Both of your parents are awesome but Dad...wow what a handsome fellow and tall to boot. Much love to you sweetheart and your parents...they done good.
I am Lancaster County raised , your parents are wonderful , great job , thank you , best wishes..

Ariel, I can't thank you enough for sharing your parents with "us". They seem like such lovely people. I hear you in your parents words.
I definitely can see you in both your parents..they taught you well. Hugs!❤
My gosh. This was such a pleasure to watch. Being addressed by your Dad and Mother via your filming felt so coherent, respectful, peaceful, sane and sober...in the best way. Their energy and knowledge and spirit passed on to you and now to me: I feel more grounded and grateful. Thanks, again, Ariel.
Awesome once again. Please give a big thank you to your folks for this video. They seem like wonderful people.
Dad, the horticultural engineer! Great explanations and design----thanks, Ariel and parents!
Your parents are pros at this! My husband and I have learned a lot from this video and we definitely have some re-arranging and re-adjustments to make. Thanks so much for sharing, Ariel🙂

Aww thank you! Maybe I will when we see each other in person next. We live several thousand miles apart so that doesn't happen too often. :)
Love your parents, as everyone else is saying I can see both of them in you!! Very articulate like you and highly knowledgeable people. Tell them thank you for participating in the video. I am looking for extra work/ideas for when I retire, and this is one.

I don't know if this is appropriate to say, but I love your parents :) they are awesome
Thank you for sharing. What a lovely video ❤️
I just visited this past weekend - Lancaster - to see my Old Order Amish friends! HUGS!
There is another site that had a hoop shop that came to grief with the snow in Nevada. From what I saw of its construction they surely could have used the information that your father so kindly and thoroughly gave. I will pass your site on to them and hopefully, if they ever try again, they will be able to build it stronger.
Your parents are the salt of the earth. Very nice to be introduced to them. Thanks for everything.
Perfect! I was hoping their experiences could be helpful to someone.
I'm looking forward to Part II. Have yourself a lovely day! 🌞🌙🌟🌹
I can tell your parents are very good I can see were your good habits come from
Your dad explains everything well!
Very interesting video. Are your parents Menonites? Learning all these gardening and structural techniques really is a blessing to learn.
Thank you for this excellent video, Your parents are very intelligent and distinguished gardeners. They really know there stuff and are naturals in front of a video camera. I can see where you got a lot of your training and experience, from only the best. There teachings and your dedicated interest, will allow you to pass on there knowledge, for many years to come. Thank You, Ariel & Burley

I want a dad like yours, he looks so cool, and as already said he has a calming thingy going on, he's awesome! Warm Regards Gary. Middlesbrough. UK.
Your parents are awesome. I would love to see more as I am sure they have many good tips to share.
They made a well-built greenhouse! Thanks, Ariel.
Great details on making a sustainable hoop house. Thank you! Pleasure to meet your parents.
Beautiful parents, I knew you came from good stock and morals. Are they Mennonite by chance? Just curious, I grew up in Lancaster county, between blue ball and Ephrata , Pa. until I was 5 , surrounded by Amish and Mennonite farms, and it's the best country living I know. Both my grandparents were farmers, I spent every summer vacation working on the farm way up in Tyler hill, pa., and To this day, I only live about a 40 minute drive away from there.
I grew up in Lancaster County to though my parents live a few counties away now. :) But no, most of my family is Brethren, a lot of them Old Order River Brethren. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Order_River_Brethren
NICE TO MEET YOUR PARENTS, I LIKE GRENN HOUSE THE TOMATEOS
Nice videos! Those Cannas are beautiful!
Thanks Ariel. Blessings.
It is nice to meet your parents. Great information. Thankyou for sharing, and thank them too.
You have incredible parents! What a legacy you come from! 😊♥️♥️♥️🌈
Priceless! Thanks for those tips, I didn’t know about those tools and I plan to get something similar for my vegetable garden as the winter is long here (living in Quebec, Canada, zone 4)
Your Dad and Mom are good teachers. I enjoyed this, thanks!
So nice to listen to your Dad talk . Thank you for sharing.
Fascinating!
I love the hoop house. I thought I would build that first. Live in it while building my cabin. The RV gets to be a little confining at times. At my advanced age, I would never be able to stand small spaces enough to go to Mars.
It's pretty easy to see where you get your great attention to detail. Nice presentation on greenhouse details and your parents' overall operation.
Nice to meet your parents 🙂
The perfect type of parents. Cool as heck!! Self sufficiency. That's where it's at.
Thanks for sharing your parents and their greenhouse. I can see where you get your vast knowledge of horticulture.
Very concise.
Really Really very nice Ariel ' so educational so well spoken ' your parents are so articulate '.
lots to setting up and running a green house ' thank them for their loving efforts to teach us .
peace craig
Thank you for sharing your sweet parents with us. It was a pleasure "meeting" them. I learned a lot!
Great parents. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic people 👍
Makes you want to run to the store and start building your own greenhouse, just like this one!🏃🏽
:)
Awesome video Ariel, I love your parents, I appreciate all the valuable information about the construction of the green house, it will come in handy when we build our own greenhouses. You have beautiful parents, it was so nice to meet them ♥
Best wishes with your own setup!
@@FyNyth Thank you Ariel ♥
Attention to detail, love that, I’m already thinking of a few people I want to share this video with who have a hoop house but not this secure.
Your parents are very lovely you are blessed
I really enjoyed seeing and learning from your parents' experience! thanx for sharing :)
Nice parents.
Great video.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SHARING!
Wow lots of good information awesome
Cool parents. My hat is off to them.
thank you for sharing
Very happy to have stumbled upon your channel today. You have excellent videos and I admire your lifestyle! It is encouraging to see that you've not only made this way of living work, but have stuck with it (for five years now?)! Hope you have many more happy years to come.
Thank you so much for sharing Ariel. I can now see where your intelligence and patience for when things go wrong comes from.
Wonderful stuff
Ariel, Thank you for sharing this information from your father. He is very good in explaining the construction of the hoop house. I with I could build one here but I don't think it would survive the winds. I just put a cherry tomato plant out so the tomato information will come in handy.
Yeah I think you would need a shape designed to shed wind very well. And very sturdy if it were going to stay upright there!
Nice to 'meet your parents! I miss mine so. 💙
Lived in Lancaster County for over 20 years. Best food in the whole country comes from there.
I can see where you get your smarts from Ariel. I've said it before and I'll say it again you have a lovley family Ariel xxx
I love it! Mom and Dad need to start a channel their advice is solid and obviously They have vast experience to share! I've not heard of this form of tomato growing but it makes so much sense! Being under 5 ft I can see using this method to get more production at my height! You should encourage them to start a channel they have so much knowledge on homesteading gardening healthy cooking etc I for 1 would watch every upload!
I'll pass that on. :)
😂😂😂 yeah maybe just guest appearance is best!
This is so interesting. Thank you for sharing it and thanks to your parents!
Ariel now I know why you’re so smart that was a great video do the plants survive year round you have two beautiful parents be proud of God bless you
The tomatoes? No, while southern PA winters are quite mild compared to my area, they do have killing freezes and some snow.
What a great video! So much information - can’t wait for tomorrow’s info on pruning. Side note- I know you can not grow tomatoes in your garden, what about visiting when the are ready to harvest and jar their tomatoes. You would have it all winter and it would be a small piece of home. My friend jars hers and we all call it “liquid gold”. Yumm
We always canned a couple hundred quarts of tomato products when I was growing up and my parents and other siblings who live in in warmer areas still do. :) They are however growing these to market. And if I happen to make the 4000 mile round trip there in a vehicle at a time of year when tomatoes are ripe, I'm sure they would be happy to share some of the ones that have blemishes that prevent most folks from wanting to buy them. But transporting home canned goods that distance is a bit tough to do without breaking the seals. I do normally purchase tomatoes from a local grocery here and can my own sauces etc. though.
Excellent video - your parents are very good at explaining what they did. I will try what of this I have room for in my garden next summer. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks!
Great stuff. Thank you for sharing this information and thank you to your father for clearly explaining his design.
Excellent content, very informative 👍👍👍😃
Thank You, your Da is a very good teacher and explainer, this was exactly the information I needed. Please Thank your Da for me.
Such a wise man. I would like to see more videos with your parents.

Very informative. Your dad put a lot thought into building the green house. Your parents influence shows in your work ethic Ariel.
Hi, neat! I was thinking your family was mennonite. I read the link. I Homeschooled my family until my divorce 8 years ago. I loved Rod & Staff math and the newsletters 💗🌻👍now I can totally see the basis for your vlog and lifestyle 💗🌻💗🌻
Great informational video on the hoop house construction.I hope part 2 will follow with pruning and trellising.
