Some say it was so hard to move out that it sits there today under a pile of sand

Thanks so much for sharing. It is my DREAM to have one of these in my backyard, even better if I could retain the main landing gear as well. Where is this machine sectioned in half lengthwise? Perhaps that was a different burning man 747. In any case, it would really be so much easier and insanely more affordable to fabricate a replica sheet metal shell one piece at a time.

Thanks for the update on the plane. I know that you did your best to get a good/great story but sometimes that just doesn't happen the way we want it to. Coming from a person that only would know about this kind of stuff from open men/women like yourself I am grateful to get to know some of the things that are "behind" the scenes that the average person would not cover and seeing as how my computer is my window into the world of things that I could only dream of attending to me this is all fantastic and I am so very blessed to have found your vlog and I have watched all of your videos. I am looking forward to seeing what you have for us next week and thank you for sharing your life with me, it does mean a lot to me. Good luck out there and see you next week.

I would have liked to see the 747 moving across its walking runway and somebody actually driving it, someone in the cockpit steering it. That would have been boss

Did you get any drone footage of the burnbots around the mans base?

Scott Powers Burnbots? Not sure what those are. Moon or Gini probably did.

@@Shalaco there were 12 different robot art grants that were on the top of the gear surrounding the man.

seems kinda pointless leaving it out there like that.

So, they spent $250K+ to haul this hunk of metal out into the desert? I believe that money could have been better spent on something returning social value....like maybe endangered desert land reclamation. Sorry, not inspired!

I am a bit disappointed with this video. I have seen the 747 on Playa and am familiar with some of the justified and unjustified criticisms that have been bandied about. I was expecting some more meat to this video on how they moved it, people from various camps and institutions coming together in a community to help them out when the move started to have issues. Instead all we got was a puff/propaganda piece that it is off BLM land now and "Hey you people don't come visit it or your bad people!"

If I see an opportunity to do something better, I do my best to inspire it to happen, or I try to make it myself. I'd love to see you tell the story they way you think it should
I hear you. I always want more from my videos. I went out there in hopes of hearing a broader perspective of what was going on and sharing that side of the story. When I got there people from Big Imagination were beat, and members of other camps who came out didn't want to speak for them. First and foremost I respect people when they are working, so I didn't shove cameras in their face, I asked if it was a good time and respected them when they said it wasn't. I prioritize respecting people over making "the best content possible" and when I can do both it's gold, but sometimes things don't always work out the way you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As far as being a bad person, I never said that, I said you are trespassing, which is true. And if you damage the landscape to do it, I would say you are definetly doing it wrong. www.sfgate.com/burningman/article/747-burning-man-plane-on-playa-art-nevada-pictures-13321629.php

I would gently suggest that the chain of thinking to "Bad people" would be Trespassers ->> people doing it are Trespassing ->> Trespassing is a crime ->> people doing a crime are criminals ->> Criminals are bad people. I agree you did not explicitly say it, but it felt like a bit of a dog whistle. I would freely admit it might just be my interpretation of your art.
I completely sympathize with not getting the planned footage. In my own small video creation efforts I too have had film days where nothing works out and you are left looking at unusable footage wondering how you are going to put anything coherent together. Sometimes, the harsh truth is that it could be better to not use the footage, but that is always up to the artist and I try to not judge too harshly.
Anyhow, when I saw the notice last night that your video was coming online at 10am I was very excited as I have greatly enjoyed your previous videos and the insight they have given and was looking forward to something on such a interesting topic as Big Imagination/747. As I said though, I just felt like there was not much meat on this bone. In the end it felt like a couple of drone shots and someone blogging in front a camera. I was left with a large helping of, "meh."

KMDDiver thanks so much for pointing this out - this whole story is about building a wonderful community and coming together, we also had a lot of support from other camps (emotional and physical!) and would be happy to chat about it. Please reach out and we can give you more details if you like
