Love it! This was my mom's era. She loved to dance around the house, and this was her favorite. Every time I hear it, I think of her. I miss her so much. I love this song as much as she did, I think. The dance, the bluesy vibe. It'll never get old.
I was 4 years old when this song was popular but I heard rock & roll music because my oldest brothers were teens. I had no idea there was a dance associated with this; the blaring repetitive saxophones just sounded strange to me - but I always remembered it.
Your absolutely correct but alot of times it was leather jackets jeans casual shoes or baseball shoes it depends on where the setting on for the dance was I suppose
💖😊 Yes! Remembering how much fun we all had back in the Day...So many sweet memories that will last Forever.💞 The Stroll was my Favorite. Great times and wonderful era.🥰
I hate to say it but if everyone thinks that this dance is or looks easy they've got me I'm studying their moves and shuffling around and it doesn't look easy to me this was my late mom's generation and music which was a few years before I was born but I love all of the music of those times pop, country and rhythm n blues and soul music which is one and the same!
Loved the 1st couple the guy had a goatee & striped shirt as back in the day & liked the couple with the guy who wore a cash t- shirt; lots of couples of all different ages dancing, can't beat the 50's & 60's for great music & you can even understand the lyrics. This group The Diamonds wear brought to town a few yrs ago by our community concert group & lots of people were Strolling out in the isles, wear no people were sitting, wear ever there was room to move around. it was great watching all these grey heads (besides me) dancing to a song from our youth. Plus lots sang along the group really appreciated the dancing to the stroll !
Soy chileno , y por casualidad me encontre con el stroll , que cadencia mas sensual y sexy a pesar de ser un baile tan sensillo , y que lindas y adorables se ven las chicas realmenta me ha fascinado . Gracias por subir estos videos.
Man these cats and chicks know how to party. I was about 16 when this came out. Can you imagine Putin and Pelosi doing The Twist or Donald and Angela doing The Locomotion? How about Boris and Brigitte Macron doing the Mashed Potato. There would be peace and no Brexit. Make music not weapons. A salute to our Russian friends in this video.
Good to see the proper Stroll being done. It is meant to be a greasy slow grind like this. Sadly, since the mid 70's there has been another dance pretending to be the Stroll at R'n'R/Rockabilly dances.
In the American Grafitti there is one dancer who IMHO get's this dance spot on, she is in a white top, red tartan skirt to the left of the line up. What she adds to the dance/stroll is a rounding of the hips as she tranverses the stride....
Amen to this how l remeber this like so so real how the feeling of people are so loving and so together ,people were different today you have a little thing and u cough they run mask lol.lol in the 50s there was no doctor on every corner l had something' my gramma would take care of me not a big deal ,l went to.my friends and l started to cough 1time they took off lol ,the one brought her soup and my other friend brought her salad it's all good but from the ,50s there is connection and what l see regection ,not in a bad way but Covid made it happened but the stroll the 50 take me back all the way back to serenity
i saw a great documentary about the how much the Russians loved the Beatles. It was amazing what they had to do to get Beatle records smuggled in. They copied every thing the beatles did
@@gfavgust Wellll, I wouldn't go so far as to say that... Lots of us love Russian culture, such as ballet, classical music, movies, food, you name it!!! I am a former ballet dancer and have always wondered about, and have been interested in, Russian people and their culture!!
You know nothing about russians. We do not forget our communist past. We keep this in our memory as an unforgetable event have had ever could happened with us.
As an American I love this. This was my dad’s generation.

My dad was in the military and they had a weekly dance for teenagers and I remember this more than anything else.
Had forgotten what a cool song this was, and still is!
Who sang this song sounds like elvis
@@sharonnaylor4465 It’s Dave Somerville lead singer of the Diamonds band

Love this song and LOVE that there's some younger folk in those lines
O man! I inherently KNOW these moves. Bring more music on, sweet daddy. 64 and want MORE!
I was 6 years old when my sister taught me how to stroll. . . . I’m 71 now
I'm a rockerbilly biker it so good to see so many people od different ages coming together for his dance the women look amazing in their dresses
Too bad the guys didn’t also dress in period clothes which would have been suits and ties.

@@swifty8538 True, but if they were on camera such as American Bandstand they would have at least a sweater vest over a dress shirt and slacks.
@@ruthmaryrose hey Ruth you fancy a dance lmao 🤣
@@swifty8538 Wouldn’t mind doing the Stroll. I remember that and still know it. I can still cut a rug! 😁💃
I like to re-visit this video from time to time. From my parents' era, too. The gals all look so good with dresses and hairdos!

Those were good days
I'm in my 60s, and my mama taught me all the old dances.
Clean, class, and respectable.

Forgot how much fun this dance was. Notice the women's dresses and make-up. And something about this dance, I learned it almost instnatly.
I remember my brothers and sisters coming back from the dances and talking about this.
Was just doing the stroll with mine girlfriend and she likes it, great to dance

That sax sounds like somebody's gettin' a little raunchy!
This is how we passed time before internet and cell phones.
This song is still cool. Now turn around baby.....
Note: The Diamonds (singing the song) were a Canadian group.
My sister's era... she and I used to do this in the living room... and the slop.
Great job guys wonderful 👍👍
So awesome to see all these lovely young folk doing the stroll. Thanks for keeping it up 🤗

Now, this is strolling at it's best!!!
The clothes are so beautiful. Thank you
We did this at high school dances, but we did it in our socks.
I didn't realize that Russians were so fascinated with post war/cold war American culture.
Well, the Comrades might have had a spot bother imagining ol' Joe doin' the stroll with Svetlana...like a red spot in the Comrade's tunic...
